More Ways to Play With Friends Using Dedicated Servers!

Hey there Explorers, we’ve just launched a patch for Core Keeper that includes a cool new update for dedicated servers!

Traversing the underground is always fun with friends, but up until now, Explorers playing on dedicated servers all had to be using the same client to run the game. Well, we’re pleased to report that PC gamers can now play Core Keeper together on the same dedicated servers, whether they’re running the game on Steam, Epic Games, GoG, or the Microsoft Store!

If you want to run a dedicated server that supports players running the game via a different client than the host, you’ll find instructions on how to do this in the README.txt file located in the folders associated with your dedicated server. This is typically found at the following file path when running a server via Steam: "SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Core Keeper Dedicated Server\README.txt". You can also follow these instructions to open up an existing dedicated server to players running the game via other clients too.

You might be wondering how this update impacts the way mods work on dedicated servers. We’re delighted to report that your mods should still function as intended when playing with folks running the game via different clients so long as all players have the same mods installed.

We hope this will bring even more Explorers together for adventures, base building, boss battles, and camaraderie (or competition, for those who prefer to play PvP!). If you’re looking for folks to play with, make sure you join our Core Keeper community Discord and visit the #🔍-lfg-matchmaking channel to meet your fellow Explorers.

Community Update - July 2025

Hi there Explorers! Gosh, it's been a hot minute since we've had a community update. We were doing these weekly at one point, but we think a monthly cadence will be a little more enjoyable for those of you who wish to keep up with all the lovely things going on across our community spaces without these updates dominating your Steam news feeds!

As many of you know by now, the development team takes a little time off during the summer to rest and recuperate. That doesn't mean that there's not plenty of Core Keeper activity going on across our Discord, X, Instagram and BlueSky accounts, though! The community team is still hard at it, bringing you the Core Keeper content you know and love. So, let's take a look at what we've been sharing and what the community has been up to!
5-Set Fishing Bonus
Here's a top tip for all you fishing enthusiasts! Equip the Diving Helm, Kelp Mantle, Scuba Fins, Neptune Necklace, and Goldfish Ring to take your fishing sessions to the next level. Not only will this armour set increase your max health and armour, it'll also offer a bonus to fishing, improve your chance of hooking a fish, increase the odds of a rare fish bite, add 24% of your fishing skill as range damage, AND improve the odds of bait not being consumed when catching a fish. Phew, that's a lot of fishing fun!
Abiotic Office
Have you stumbled upon any scenes from our Abiotic Factor crossover yet? We'll give you a hint! These spawn in the Forgotten Ruins. Perhaps there's some temporal weakness here that allows dimensions to crossover more easily? We can only speculate...
What Your Fave Core Keeper Background Says About You!
YouTuber Prowl8413 is a full-time Minecraft player trying their hand at Core Keeper for the very first time. We think it's pretty safe to say that, if you like building, crafting, survival, and the option to play in creative mode, you'll love Core Keeper.
Dakon Bakes Jingle Jam Cookies!
We're not the only ones who look at some of the delicious dishes in Core Keeper and think "wow, I'd sure love to try that in real life", and now you can! At least with our Jingle Jam cookies ❤ Check out this all-new video from Dakon's Bakehouse and find out how you can bring these tasty treats to life at home!

1.1.2.2 Post-Update Stability Patch
Miscellaneous:
• Fixed an issue that prevented some mods from loading correctly on non-Steam PC platforms.
Graphics:
• Cattle Feeding Trays no longer clip into walls.
Performance:
• When a world is loaded, the game now despawns some mobs if there are more than 500 mobs in a 4x4 area. This scenario can typically only occur if mob farms have been left unattended for an extended period.
Bug Fixes:
• Robot Arms no longer leave invisible dropped items on the ground if they pick up items when the player is not nearby. This could previously cause severe performance problems if Robot Arms were left unattended for an extended period.
 • Fixed an issue where the Atlantean Worm sometimes created an extra map marker that wouldn’t follow the boss.
 • Pets can now appear on bridges.
 • Pets should now teleport to the player after a few seconds if there is no viable path due to a closed door.
 • Root plants no longer break with a single hit.

1.1.2.1 Post-Update Stability Patch

Gameplay:
 • Adjusted Electro-Pest’s hitbox to correctly reflect its size.
Miscellaneous:
 • Fixed a few text and translation issues.
Graphics:
 • Smoke from Furnaces, Campfires and Cooking Pots will no longer be visually in front of other objects.
 • Adjusted the sprite of the grey coloured Drohmble Calf to correctly display an in-palette chest.
 • Emissive parts of the Glass Smelter will no longer be rendered in front of other objects.
Performance:
 • Improved performance of the sprite atlas packing, reducing the initial black screen while the game loads by several seconds.
 • Some systems that are only needed for mods are now disabled when no mods are installed. This improves the game’s initial load time.
 • Particle effects are now loaded in a more efficient manner at the start of the game.
 • Initializing fonts no longer causes excessive memory allocations at the start of the game.
 • Fixed a minor memory leak caused by plants.
Bug fixes:
 • Fixed an issue that could cause mouse input to get stuck.
 • Plants now continue to grow when no players are nearby.
 • Fixed an issue where the Earie’s Provoked Swarm talent and the Electro-Pet’s Territorial Fallout talent had been swapped. Pets already affected by this issue will also be automatically fixed when the save is loaded.
 • The “Beam Me Up” achievement now also triggers when teleporting from a Waypoint to a Portal.
 • Fixed an issue that could cause some ranged enemies to continue to walk towards their target even after entering their usual attack range.
 • Fixed a bug that caused some Orbital Turrets to only shoot one single laser beam without deploying their shield.
 • Fixed an issue that caused Core Sentries to be invisible.
 • Fixed an issue that caused Core Sentries’ projectiles to deal lingering damage after hitting a wall.
 • Removed the ability to spawn Nimruza, Queen of the Burrowed Sands by using a Nimruza Figurine in the Materializer.
 • Fixed an issue that caused Core Commander and Nimruza's end dialogue to appear after respawning.
 • Fixed an issue that caused multiple copies of the Blast armor set pieces to drop from Locked Copper Chests.
 • Fixed an issue that caused unlocked Iron Chests to be fished up in The Forgotten Ruins instead of Locked Iron Chests.
 • Scrolling the UI settings menu screen in certain languages no longer results in settings being displayed outside the intended area.
 • Fixed an issue that could cause some Pets and Minions to not be able to go through doors.
 • Characters will now only be vulnerable after the screen fades back in when teleporting between Portals/Waypoints.
 • Fixed an issue that caused critters to “float” above water or pits when the ground beneath them was broken.
 • It is now possible to sleep when next to a Purple Slime or a Blue Slime.
 • Dodos now correctly drop meat when killed.
 • Health regeneration for non-boss enemies is now correctly interrupted when they take damage.
 • Life on hit effects should now work correctly against bosses.
 • Visual outline effects should now be correctly applied to enemies.
 • Minions should now follow movement commands even if recently stopped from a previous command.
 • Minions should no longer randomly stop when doing turns in their movement path.
 • Damage caused by the hydra boss’ scream attack should now be correctly blocked by walls.
