Community Update - September 2025

Hey Explorers, we hope you're having an awesome month. We don't know about where you are, but the weather seems to be cooling down and it finally feels like we're heading into autumn. We've had some awesome comments from the Core Keeper community on our social posts this month and some great builds and fan content too!
Core Keeper's First AMA
We took to Reddit for Core Keeper's first official AMA. Over the course of three hours, we answered all your burning Core Keeper questions! It was such an amazing experience for us as developers and we can't believe we had over 500 comments on the thread! Read through it here.

We also had a couple of cheeky Explorers ask for a little teaser from our next major content update, and Fredrik delivered! Any guesses on what we're showing off here?
We ♥ Ore Boulders
From humble copper all the way to powerful pandorium, which ore boulder do you think is the prettiest? Tell us in the comments! We also asked this question over on X and Bluesky, and it looks like there's a lot of love for Galaxite and Solarite (justice for Tin!).
What Pets Would You Like to See In Core Keeper?
There are plenty of adorable pets in Core Keeper already, but we thought it'd be fun to ask the community what pets they'd like to see in the future. There were some awesome responses over X, Bluesky, and Discord, and we can't list them all, but here are some of our favourites both in terms of cuteness and creativity!

 • "I just want a really really big frog." - squib (Discord)
 • "Im gonna need a dinosaur. A lil trex. Just a lil guy. Who eats everyone." - Anime Profile Pic (X)
 • "Hard boiled egg" - ‪Skele₊ ⭐⚪️💜⬛‬ (Bluesky)
 • "What about a little and colourful cloud that gives you movement speed on karts?" - chloryne (Discord)
 • "Holiday/Event Variations of All Pets" - Acronell (X)
 • "Pets that are a miniature version of all the bosses in the game" - FernoVT (X)
 • "What about like a magic book, constantly flipping through its pages? That'd be kinda cool" Firecat (Discord)
Find the Hidden Halloween Item!
We hid one item from our Halloween seasonal event in this otherwise very summery base. Can you spot it?
Malugaz & More by Bear
We LOVE this amazing Malugaz fan art by Bear. We wonder if that's their base or where they imagine Malugaz might once have lived?
Grim Armor and Tome of Decay by Artistbeancrafts
Core Keeper feels like it was built for artists to throw their original characters into all kinds of wacky situations!

"I like throwing my character Maya Kelling into different universes- in Core Keeper she'd be a summoner with a crossbow (crossbow not pictured)" - Artistbeancrafts
Desert Murals by Atlas
Atlas has done an amazing job of capturing the flora, fauna, and geology of the Desert of Beginnings. 10/10 would use as our desktop backgrounds.

If you're creating something to do with Core Keeper don't forget to share it over on our official Discord channel or tag us in a post on X and BlueSky!

Join Us for Core Keeper’s First Reddit AMA!

Hi there Explorers. We're hosting our first-ever Reddit AMA tomorrow on September 10th from 16.00 to 19.00 UTC. Join us over on r/corekeepergame to ask us, the developers, your questions!
What is an AMA?
"AMA" stands for "Ask Me Anything", and a Reddit AMA is basically an informal question-and-answer session that takes place within a specific Reddit thread. We'll be hosting our AMA in the r/corekeepergame subreddit and the relevant thread will appear at the time the AMA starts (that's 16.00 UTC!).
How do I join in?
You'll need a Reddit account to join in and we recommend becoming a member of the r/corekeepergame subreddit by clicking "Join" in the top right-hand side of the subreddit page. The AMA thread will go live at 16.00 UTC and all you have to do to join in is open the thread and post your question in the form of a comment. We'll do our best to get back to you ASAP, but it might take a few minutes if the AMA is particularly busy.
Can I really ask anything?
Just about! You might want to ask us about our experiences developing Core Keeper, the inspiration behind the game, what our favourite biomes are, etc. You could also ask questions about how we got into game development, what other projects we've worked on, or even whether we think pineapple belongs on pizza. We're excited to hear what you come up with, and there's no such thing as a stupid question...but do keep 'em clean, folks.
Who will be participating?
Four of the core (pun intended) development team will be on hand to answer questions. You can expect responses from Fredrik Präntare (Game Director), Sven Thole (Lead Producer), Herman Appelgren (Tech Lead), and Alexander Ma (Gameplay Lead).

Your friendly neighbourhood community manager, Bridie Daniels, will also be on hand to help moderate the AMA (they might also be able to answer community-management related questions if you have any!).
How do I know I'm talking to the actual developers?
We'll make sure to list the usernames of the developers in the AMA thread when it goes live so that you can be sure you're speaking directly to us!

Phew, we think that's everything you need to know for now. If you have any questions...save 'em for the AMA!

1.1.2.4 Post-Update Stability Patch
Gameplay:
• Dedicated servers now support joining by using IPv6 address.
 • Improved –ip arguments description on dedicated servers.
 • For clarity, changed GameID to Steam GameID when server provides the connection info to player to emphasize that it can only be used by Steam client to join.
 • Join-game menu’s Game ID field now allows the use of 0 in GameIDs
 • Ra-Akar's homing projectiles now despawn when the boss is defeated.
Graphics:
• Flower Vessel destructibles in Azeos’ Wilderness now correctly leave flower debris on the ground when destroyed.
Modding
• ModIO mod-collection menu now displays mod size in localized “megabytes/kilobytes/bytes” text whenever unsubscribing from a mod.
 • Mods that are automatically installed because they are dependencies of other mods are now marked as dependencies in the mod menus. They also can no longer be uninstalled manually unless you first uninstall all mods that require them as dependencies.
Miscellaneous
• Gravestone markers now visually appear over Waypoints and Portals on the map.
 • Added an “-activateallcontent” argument for dedicated server to automatically activate all available content bundles. If you include this argument in your startup script, you do not have to activate new content bundles individually when the game receives an update. See ARGUMENTS.txt for more information.
 • Reworded the Crossplay option in the gameplay settings to clarify that this only affects playing with PC players who bought the game on a different storefront. The game currently does not support crossplay between PC and consoles.
Performance
• Fixed lag spikes that would sometimes happen when bosses temporarily went off-screen.
 • Improved how menus are initialized to reduce the game’s load time.
 • Fixed an issue that would cause a lag spike every time a new dungeon started generating. This issue was especially noticeable when starting a new world on a device with few cores.
 • Fixed a lag spike when connecting to a world using a new character.
 • Improved how the game finds converters, reducing the game’s load time.
 • Clients now receive and process animation triggers from the server in a worker thread job instead of on the main thread.
Bug fixes:
• Fixed issue that caused connections not work if player cancels the join process immediately after starting.
 • Fixed memory leak when using Thai language.
 • Fixed discord causing crash at the start of the game.
 • Fixed dedicated server printing GameID twice to GameID.txt file.
 • Fixed dedicated server creating some files (GameID.txt, GameInfo.txt, CoreKeeperServerLog.txt) into the folder the game was launched from rather than the folder game exists in. Now the files should always be created to the game folder.
 • The map is no longer initially blank when opened at high zoom levels using a gamepad.
 • Poison Berry Walls' explosions should now correctly apply the poison effect.
 • Fixed a bug where recipe slots would not highlight at the correct times during the in-game tutorial.
 • Gravestone markers can no longer prevent you from teleporting to a Waypoint or Portal.
 • Newly hatched pets that have been dropped on the ground are no longer deleted when the world is reloaded.
 • Fixed a bug where some Abiotic Factor loot was not dropping.
 • Closing the map using the “back” button on a gamepad no longer triggers offhand item effects.
 • Caveling Gardeners now pursue targets at a range that allows them to use their melee attack effectively.
 • Fishing in normal water in the Shimmering Frontier or Passage biomes no longer causes the player to get stuck when trying to pull up their catch.
 • Fixed a bug where the "caught fish" chat message did not appear if you immediately threw the hook back into the water while having a bait equipped.
 • Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented the Starlight Nautilus achievement from triggering.
 • Projectiles should no longer deal damage for extended periods after they've collided with environment.
 • Minions should now be correctly slowed by mold ground.
 • Moving during the Core Commander's death animation no longer causes some particle effects to appear in the wrong location.
 • The skill tree selection SFX no longer has significantly lower volume than other UI sounds.
 • Getting disconnected from a server while a popup dialog is displayed no longer results in menus still being open in the background when returning to the main menu.
 • The minimap no longer stays visible in the main menu after getting disconnected from a server.
 • Pressing Cancel on the Join-Game screen immediately after starting to join no longer causes future join attempts to timeout.

Notes From the Underground #006

Adventuring in the underground is a lot of fun, but it pays to be prepared...and it looks like our wayward Explorer has been neglecting chores back at their base! Thankfully, they seem to have a knack for problem solving, and they've come up with all sorts of ideas to make things like farming, fishing, and collecting resources much easier!

A transcript of this journal entry has been provided below the image.
Notes From the Underground #6 - Chore Day
I have been on some incredible adventures lately, but boy am I ready to spend some time relaxing at my base! There are just a few chores to tend to before I can really unwind, though. Crops to tend to, fish to catch, and so on. Hmm, if only there were tools or machinery that could reduce the workload a little? I think it’s time to hunker down with a Cave Coffee and come up with some ideas!

How to Harvest?
I’ve so many delicious crops growing, but they tend to sit unharvested while I’m out adventuring, and that’s precious time that could be spent growing more food! Perhaps there is some way I can augment the design of my patented Robot Arm to assist with gardening?

More Efficient Fishing
Is there anything more relaxing than fishing? I’d spend all day fishing if I had the time! I suppose I wouldn’t be making anywhere near as many discoveries if I did that, though. There’s no way I’d ever fully retire my beloved fishing rod, but it’d be nice to come home to a net full of tasty fish after a hard day’s work. Something to think about...

My Aching Back!
I’ve been making good use of the Laboratory Table lately, and the explosives I’ve been crafting have been a real boon when it comes to exploration and gathering resources. An unintended side effect, however, is the pain I’m feeling in my back every time I bend down to pick up the loot I’ve been uncovering. I thought I might train my Subterrier to fetch me items, but he thinks it's a game and won’t bring them back. Maybe this is a task better suited to a machine…
