Update v0.8: Farm buildings, Year 2 creatures, Summit and more!

[h2]v0.8 Update Notes[/h2]

[h3]Major Feature: Farm Buildings - Build, Move, Demolish[/h3]
  • Players can unlock Farm Buildings as they progress through the game.
  • From Theo's Shop, players can build, move and demolish Farm Buildings.
  • Added Farm Building: Dormancy Barn, which can store creatures.
  • Added Farm Building: Storage Shed, which can store placed items.

[h3]New Content[/h3]
  • New Introductory Quest: Creature Traits
  • Added 4 new creatures that only appear in Year 2: Glimmoth, Pupu, Grillex, and Woolblu.
  • Added 2 creature research books (Special Creatures Vol. I and Vol. II).
  • Added 'Summit', a new unlockable area in the Peaks.
  • Added Birch Trees, Birch Sapling, Birch Leaves, and Birch Water.
  • Added insect: Treehopper.
  • Added Equipment: Tamer Charm.
  • Added Equipment: Feeder Ring.
  • Added Main Menu OST (composed by TomΓ‘s Palazzi and Victor Yajure).
  • Added second OST for Mushroom Forest (Spores).

[h3]QOL Features and Changes[/h3]
  • Added Creature Compendium, which unlocks the Creature Tab.
  • The Creature Tab displays all tamed creatures and their details.
  • Creatures can be sorted by Date/Type/Bond/Status from the Creature Tab.
  • Creatures can be moved to and removed from Dormancy Barns from either the Creature Tab or their individual UIs.
  • The first creature players tame that can have a Vege-Lover will definitely get the Vege-Lover trait.
  • Creature and Fish research books show a seasonal icon where applicable.
  • Auto-Collectors collect creature produce only after the first produce (which is required to complete research) have been obtained by hand.

[h3]Balancing changes[/h3]
  • Chroma-tiered items now give more charge to the Magic Forge as compared to basic-, silver-, and gold-tiered items.
  • Fishing spots now has a chance to spawn in 'Circular' mining floors.
  • Auto-Tappers now have a chance to drop an insect.
  • Shaking trees on non-rainy days in all seasons now have a small chance to drop an insect.
  • Reduced energy cost of chopping stumps and small trees from 2 to 1.

[h3]Other changes[/h3]
  • Added Steam Screenshots (F12).
  • Reworked localisation files.
  • Minor edits to some NPC dialogues. In particular, several NPC introductory dialogues have been rewritten to make their speech flow more naturally.
  • Minor localisation improvements for Simplified Chinese.
  • Most creatures have been given unique dormant sprites.

[h3]Bugfixes[/h3]
  • Fixed bug where player could enter the Treehouse from the back of the building.
  • Fixed overlapping cursor for entering a door and patting a creature.
  • Fixed text sizes during Snowball Frenzy for larger screen resolutions.
  • Fixed being able to open the Signboard UI and creature UI at the same time.
  • Teagan's dialogue while playing Darts is now different when they're at Green Hearts and above.
  • Fixed item description of Soil Acidifier.
  • When hovering over both an NPC and something that a tool can break (e.g. trees), the NPC dialogue is prioritised.
  • Fixed Timid creatures that do not notice when there is a Predator in the same pen as them.
  • Fixed Snowbun perk getting used once more when reloading a game with the player in the mines.

[h2]Greetings, Researchers![/h2]

It's been a while~ Quite a bit of things happening behind the scenes, and I wanted to make sure things were working as intended before sharing a devlog! We plan to launch this v0.8 update in early May.

[h2]Major Feature: Farm Buildings - Build, Move, Demolish[/h2]

This is a big one - letting players have the ability to build Farm Buildings from Theo's shop. This includes building, moving, and demolishing the building.



[h3]Farm Building: Dormancy Barn πŸ’€[/h3]

We hear you - there are so many creatures to manage!

There'll be 4 new creatures this update (more below), which makes 29 total creature types in the game! We need something to help with the many creatures players will tame throughout the game.

The Dormancy Barn is a storage area for creatures, where you can keep your critters. Stored critters will not require much upkeep - the player will not need to feed them (there's already food in the barn), and their bond and happiness will remain unchanged.

[h2]New Content and QOL Features[/h2]

A new introductory quest has been added. All players will be able to get and complete the quest (even on an old save).


[h3]4 new creatures! πŸ¦‹[/h3]
We've added 4 creatures that only appear in Year 2! One of them is a Glimmoth - look how cute!


[h3]Added 'Summit', a new unlockable area in the Peaks πŸ—»[/h3]
Players will be able to unlock an additional (small) part of the map, called the 'Summit'. There is a mountain spring where you can soak a little~



[h3]Creature Compendium πŸ“–[/h3]
Players can obtain a Creature Compendium, which shows all tamed creatures and their details.



There are a few other smaller changes which I'll list in a patch note once the update is live!

Hotfix v0.7.11.1

- Fixed Vallee getting stuck with a bugged dialogue that states 'Bug: text cannot be read from file ID: -4.' Players would need to sleep in bed for her dialogue to reset and return to normal.
- Fixed some collision boxes in the Tavern's second floor rooms.

Hotfix v0.7.11.j

Fixes
- Fixed Eira's House Visit Quest still showing up in questlog even though quest has been completed.
- Fixed Suo'e not attending the Winter Festival if player hung out with him the day before.
- Fixed a crash that happens if player talks to Teagan during the Winter Festival if Suo'e did not attend.
- Fixed Hangout Events end time.

On the side, I'm still working on the next content update! The focus would be on creatures + creature management - I'll share more when ready!
