Sandwalkers 1.0.1 - Hotfix #1 -

Hello everyone!

First of all, thanks for playing Sandwalkers! We already had some great feedback and we cannot thank you enough for taking the time to post them
Here's a first patchnote about what's been fixed and what we're still working on!

Patch 1.0.1


[h2]Hotfix[/h2]
  • Temporarily changed “Insidious Seed” attack from the Botanist as it can cause crashes.

[h2]User experience[/h2]
  • The “new run” button on the title screen will no longer offer to erase your save. This has been changed to either start a new run, or continue a run you've started but not finished yet.
  • You can still reset your save through a dedicated button in Options>General in the title screen
  • Reworded some skill tooltips that weren’t clear enough
  • Fixed misleading descriptions on Shield upgrades in the Cristal library, since it’s not giving +20 flat Shield but +20% max Shield


[h2]Balancing[/h2]
  • Red ant speed has been nerfed from 6 to 4
    Having two angry ants playing before you could do anything was a bit frustrating.
  • Starting max supplies are increased from 15 to 20
    While we want the desert to be challenging in early game, we feel like adding 5 Supplies will slightly help most players in their first runs.
  • Increased Supplies gain on Desert cactus & animals
    Again: we want you to be challenged, not to suffer from neverending starvation


[h2]Localization[/h2]
  • Korean language is now named correctly in the language settings


[h2]Bugfix[/h2]
  • Fixed the dynamic counter in the description of the “Repairs” quest
  • Double clicking the “Leave Place” action for the first time was hiding the UI sometimes
  • Effect stacks not decreasing correctly in fight (visual bug only)


[h3]Mac[/h3]
  • Fixed issues related to specific resolutions, preventing you from closing some screens (like the Map)


[h3]Linux[/h3]
  • Cinematics will now play normally


As a precision, the changes on Mac are more general and the game should now have the right resolution everywhere, including Steamdeck. Even if not officially supported yet, this and the tweak on the Linux version should make the game playable on Steamdeck


[h2]Coming soon[/h2]
This is some stuff we know about, but that couldn't make it into this patch without threatening either the integrity of the game, or the integrity of our hard working developpers :D
  • We’re aware that the introduction cinematic is missing some subtitles and are working on it: it will be tackled in the next hotfix!
  • We’re tackling a memory leak issue causing freezes and performance drops the longer a play session lasts. As a workaround, you can save and restart the game ; this should make things better even if it is not ideal
  • Still working on improving the attack tooltips clarity
  • Steam Cloud support
  • And more!

We've faced quite a few challenges internally, but after closed betas, two free prologues, a successful Kickstarter campaign, devlogs showcasing the game's progress, and tons of feedback, we are proud of where we're at now. And it's all thanks to you, so a big thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way!

Gorgeous strategy roguelike inspired by Final Fantasy gets free demo

Fantasy as a genre has often been about heading out the door, following your feet, and exploring the world. Many of the greats are inspired by the simple pleasure of going where your legs take you, across rolling fields and through dark woods. Not all exploration is quite that pastoral and in games like Sandwalkers you never know what you'll find out there in the forbidding wastes.

New free prologue out now!

Hi everyone!

As we are closer than ever to release, we wanted to push the game one last time with a new prologue version!
Unlike Sandwalkers: The Fourteenth Caravan, which was an introduction to the game lore, this free prologue is more focused on gameplay and is more balanced than the latest demo.
