Forever Skies - Exploring Ruined Skies Trailer Unveiled!
Greetings scientists, our latest trailer just landed! You can check it out here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6xvaromGe0
We took a slightly different approach with this new trailer compared to our previous ones. With the Exploring Ruined Skies trailer we wanted to convey to players exactly what they will be doing in Forever Skies, by showing off more gameplay than we have ever done before. So let's try and break some of this down…
Exploration & Locations

As the VO said in the trailer, when designing the procedural world of Forever Skies, our goal was simple. Create a world full of wonder & curiosity. Wherever you are in the game, there will always be something or some place you can see that you will want to take a closer look at.

In the trailer you get a closer look at some of the locations you’re able to land at and explore. One of these locations, the tech bay, we have already shown in a previous dev blog. But you also get quick looks at other types of locations too! Such as destroyed signal towers, and overgrown structures. In later areas you will be able to gather plants and fruits among other resources.
Tools

Some of these tools you will have seen previously such as the Extractor and Repair Tool, but you also get a quick glimpse at some new ones too! These include the survival knife and crossbow tool. The knife comes in handy when harvesting crops and the crossbow is useful for knocking down valuable items from high places, like fruit off of trees. Oh…I guess they’re both good as a method of self defence too :p
Threats

Forever Skies is full of many dangers, both to you and your vital airship base. In the trailer you see the airship taking damage from both drifting debris and lightning. Both of these issues will reduce the performance of your airship, in speed, altitude and more.

You also see the scientist get attacked by a creature when they’re trying to harvest plants at an overgrown structure. This attack causes the player to contract one of the many diseases in Forever Skies. These diseases needed to be diagnosed and studied in order to create a cure. In the trailer you see the player climb into a diagnostic station to start this process. This is a really cool mechanic that we can’t wait for you to see more of!
UI

This trailer gives the first real look at the games UI design. We tried to keep the basic HUD simple and easy to understand. With a compass at the top, food, water, immunity and health bottom left and quick item select at the bottom centre. You also got a glimpse at the Scanner Tool and 3D Printer UI too.
What did you think? We hope you enjoyed the new trailer. As always, feel free to ask us any questions.
