Update 1.0.4.0



Hello Wanderers,
while it might have been silent around the Striving for Light development, there is a lot been going on behind the curtain.

[h3]Timeline for Season 2 Content Update[/h3]
We are heavily working on the extensive content update for Season 2. As we are leaving no stone untouched, there are fundamental improvements we can't hold back until Season 2!

So lets talk about what 1.0.4.0 holds in store for you!

[h2]Major Features[/h2]
[h3] Performance Improvements[/h3]
This update holds one of the biggest performance breakthroughs till date!
  • The combat, skill and collision system was completely rewritten for buttery smooth performance.
  • Fixed performance degradation over time when having damage numbers active
  • The performance on boss encounters like Noctelle was improved

In case you have run into stutters, hickups or framedrops, you will most likely enjoy this update 🙂

[h3]New Projectile Animations[/h3]
All projectiles now have smooth vanishing animations instead of simply poping out of existance.

[h3]Further improvements[/h3]
  • Meteor Visual Improvements: The meteor impact crater is now smaller and not overlaying important elements like the player or enemies.
  • Vareth Visibility Range: Vareth now has larger visibility range


[h3]Bugfixes:[/h3]
  • Fixed a rare crash when trying to receiving server times, and server was receiving too many requests
  • Fixed projectile shield not spawning projectiles around you as it should (which resulted in no visible projectiles at all)
  • Fixed meteor animation sometimes gettings stuck
  • Fixed not possible weapon pickup in coop mode when playing with 2 controllers
  • Fixed bugs in interacting with npcs in coop mode when playing with 2 controllers


We will very soonTM start sharing more details on what awaits you with the Season 2 content update, which is keep growing in scope. As we want to ensure that this massive update is an enjoyable experience we do not want to rush the update out, especially as SfL is now fully released and we want to schedule in enough time to thoroughly test new mechanics and fundamental changes. Currently we are expecting Season 2 to be released early next year.

  • Enhanced borderless fullscreen mode for improved streaming/recording software compatibility

Borderless fullscreen mode is now optimized for streaming. Enable taskbar auto-hide in Windows for best results

Update 1.0.3.0



With Update 1.0.3.0 we are adding major changes to our companion movement and enemy targeting AI as well as our approach for construct aiming. Additionally plenty of AoE skills that are cast to a random area have received buffs and balancing changes.

Plans for Season 2

We have already started production on Season 2 and we expect to launch it in 2025. We do not have a fixed date for the release yet but we will keep you updated and share some news on what new content you can expect for Season 2 (soonTM).

New Features


[h2]New Companion AI[/h2]
We spent tremendous time improving companion and construct behaviour. To make companion and construct builds more satisfying and less frustrating to play. We also spent a lot of time optimising the new algorithms to come at a low performance impact.

Companions have gotten smarter and can now track enemies and predict enemy movement to more accurately follow moving targets.

[h3]Melee Companions[/h3]
Melee Companions now continuously track targets instead of charging in the direction of the current enemy position. They as well predict enemy movement now and move towards predicted enemy positions instead of chasing behind moving enemies.

[h3]Range Companions[/h3]
The same enemy tracking behaviour was applied to range companions. Furthermore, the range attacks now as well predict enemy movement and aim towards the predicted enemy position for immensly improved accuracy.

[h3]Range constructs[/h3]
Range constructs now predict enemy movement and aim at the predicted position instead of the current enemy position which has lead to accuracy issues on moving targets.

[h2]Further improvements[/h2]
  • Improved crafting tutorial description for shorter description and more clarity.


[h3]Balancing:[/h3]
  • Phoenix Egg Utility Trinket Companion now has increased attackspeed of 1/s (was 2/s). Phoenix companion also has increased movementspeed as well as faster projectile speed.
  • Meteor Skill damage has been increased to 40 (was 30)
  • Discharge skill AoE damage has been increased to 30 (was 20)
  • Lightning Strike skill AoE damage has been increased to 20 (was 10)
  • Fissure skill AoE damage has been increased to 30 (was 10)


These balancing changes have also been applied to the embedded legendary weapon abilities.

Update 1.0.2.2

With Update 1.0.2.2 we are further improving and optimising performance of the new loot drop and damage number algorithms.

  • Continuous Loo Drops: Loot drops are now continuous instead of instant for improved performance, better visuals and better loot positioning
  • Performance Improvements and optimisations for new damage number spawn algorithm
  • Performance Improvements and optimisations for new loot drop algorithm

  • Fixed a potential overflow when having the game open idle for a long time when having camera shake option enabled
