Tales & Tactics - Alpha PVP Update now live featuring a 20% Discount

Hello Tacticians!

We are back with another exciting tales & Tactics update! We have been working on some big things since our last update based on your feedback! Not only do we have a new exciting update, you will also be able to pick up Tales & Tactics with a 20% discount during Steam Digital Tabletop Fest, so don't forget to tell your friends and challenge them to the new PVP mode!

We are launching our Alpha PVP mode ahead of the full PVP mode in the 1.0 launch! To make sure this is as good as it can be we will iterating throughout the Early Access development based on your feedback. You will now be able to participate in unranked PVP where you will be able to face off against other players in asyncronous battles (no lobbies, no time limits). Custom lobbies and ranked play will be coming in future updates.

We have also been hard at work with creating new unlock system. This will help direct players with the meta progression of the game in a more linear path instead of the former free-form grid of unlocks. Existing players, be sure to skim through for some new unlock options!



And finally we have given the game a fresh lick of paint and rebuilt the main menu UI from the ground up. This is not only a cosmetic change - we felt it was worth the time investment to give you all a much smoother experience for areas that have been identified as rough around the edges, such as the Unlocks screen, Difficulty selection, Community Codes, Draft selection, and more.

Hello everyone! If you were wondering where the Tales & Tactics Discord went off to, it unfortunately was destroyed by a malicious user after hijacking a developer account back in December. It took some time to restore the account, but unfortunately, the server deletion was unable to be undone.

So, we've rebuilt, better than ever before with new features! We'll be starting up more community events once we've had enough time for everyone to get back.

For those of you that participated in Experimental updates, the next patch is ready for testing in that branch, with patch notes, bug boards, and feedback threads ready to go in the brand new Discord.

Hotfix 0.3.4

Fixed the last several Units (from the October update to now) not having correct Hat placements, and not having good positioning in the Compendium when viewing their 3D model.

Fixed some small black horizontal lines appearing when viewing a Unit’s model in the Compendium.

Added safeguards to fix various issues where the Giving Ring could function while all Receiving Ring holders were dead, causing effective immortality.

Fixed an issue where Devil’s Deal wasn’t granting its rewards.

Fixed several issues where Combat Recap UI could be put into a bad state, breaking the game’s interactibility.

Fixed several issues with Kevin’s interactions with various special Traits.

Fixed the end of run tavern ambience playing even if the volume was turned down.

Added some more missing Chinese translations.

Winter Update Hotfix 0.3.3

  • Fixed many issues regarding Chinese localized text showing color formatting tags, such as

  • The Hardcore modifier fix from Hotfix 1 was accidentally removed from the build. It is now actually fixed.

Winter Update Hotfix 2 Patch Notes

The Legendary achievement now only requires 2 Legends to complete.

The Purge button in the Unlocks screen now disables itself for 3 seconds when clicked, ensuring no possibility of an accidental double-click when confirming the Purge.

Fixed the Purge warning text referring to being able to Unlock All. This was a feature we were considering when we added Purge, but decided against it in favor of increasing Mastery gain rates.

Fixed enemy Tier 4 units being added to the Banish list.

Fixed an issue where the End of Run Mastery total tallied up each badge rather than only the highest tier of badge earned, which was the intent. Fixed this by actually just making it work the way it looked like it work, that each badge is additive to its previous versions, but reduced some of the mastery rewards per badge.

Fixed a softlock that would occur if you very quickly double clicked on the ‘continue’ button in the Random generated elements popup when a run starts. The button can no longer be clicked twice.

Fixed Master Trollgar no longer having any negative effect when the Protection Totems died.

Fixed Shred-O-Matic not gaining buffs from Charge Totems.

Fixed Nimbus’s skill no longer functioning

Fixed issues where the Merge Book could get stuck open and become impossible to close.

Fixed an issue where, when benching a unit disabled a Trait, that Trait effect would still apply to the Benched unit.

Potentially fixed a rare (hard to reproduce) issue where closing the Combat Recap screen would make the rest of the UI unclickable.
