2024.13.1 Update Release

A small, but very important update to fix a number of the top runtime/in-game issues reported after the original release.

For all of the details, please see the 2024.13 release notes page.

2024.13 Release

GameMaker 2024.13 is here, bringing UI layers, the Prefab Library, and SVG Support.

Also:

  • Code Editor 2 has received numerous stability improvements and bug fixes
  • Marketplace integration has been removed from the IDE and any uploading and downloading of assets must be done through the website - you can then drag your downloaded packages onto GameMaker in order to import them
  • The new Project Health window now warns you if the source images for any sprites are missing from the project
  • Camera access and tilt support in GX.games exports
  • And much, much more... (Seriously - this is a massive release!)

For more on the headline changes briefly mentioned above, see the blog post for 2024.13

And for all the information, please see the full release notes for 2024.13

As mentioned above, this is a very large release, so please do review the release notes carefully and be aware that not all fixes/changes are listed.

If something is behaving differently in your games now, please search the release notes and the changelist for the name of the function that's now working differently and see if a change has been made that you now need to react to.

Similarly, ensure you're using the correct tools and Game Options values, as some of these requirements have changed - see the release notes for specifics.

Happy GameMaking!

2024.11 Release

Welcome to the 2024.11 release of GameMaker!

Alongside a wide array of stability and performance fixes, this one introduces:

  • The option to enable a beta of the new code editor if you want
  • The ability to have unused assets not be included in your game export packages
  • New export packages in the form of Windows ARM architecture support and being able to export a .zip from the GX.games target so that you could host the game on your own website
  • New functions for manipulating your game windows on desktop OSes, plus for inverting a matrix
  • More error-checking on audio functions and new error dialogs/warnings for other functions as you use them within your games, so coding mistakes can be caught and fixed far more easily

And a lot more!

2024.8 Release

GameMaker 2024.8 is here, bringing a vast number of stability fixes and performance improvements.

There have been several IDE fixes for stutters when moving windows or writing code, and also for startup crashes on some user's systems caused by OS permissions problems or antivirus/firewall applications.

On the runtimes side, Android and iOS developers get important additions to avoid submission problems and there are a number of new in-game functions added for Flex Panels, scissor regions, HTTP timeouts, and more debug GUI controls.

The release blog highlights a few key changes and a much fuller list of the important fixes and improvements is on the Release Notes page for 2024.8.
