Chilly DevLogs from Alaska ! #67 - Use Your Tools Wisely

Hello, explorers and adventurers!

As you venture deeper into the wild, gold-filled landscapes of Alaska Gold Fever, you’ll need more than just a dream and a good pair of warm boots.

This time, we’re talking about the real stars of survival: the Pickaxe and the Hatchet! The ultimate tools of destruction, creation, and sometimes… even desperation.


Using Blender and other 3D tools, we carefully crafted the pickaxe model, making sure it has just the right amount of wear - because let’s be honest, no real prospector keeps a brand new pickaxe ;)

We took the time to sculpt the perfect balance of "looks like it could mine gold" and "feels like it could crack a skull".









A miner’s best friend and a rock’s worst nightmare.
Primary Use: Smashing through rocks to find those sweet, shiny gold nuggets.
Secondary Use: A pretty decent melee weapon - because sometimes, the wildlife (or bandits ) don’t play nice. You will be equiped with a shooting weapons too but pickaxe is your primary melee option.





Some say the hatchet (or axe) is just for chopping wood. We say it's a multi-purpose survival tool!!!
Did you know the vikings used their axes not only to smashing their opponents skulls but also for daily needs?
You’ll be able to upgrade your tools (as seen in playtests) to make mining (and survival) a little easier.
And watch out for durability! Almost every tool will have limited time of usage. So use them strategicaly ;) Or you will go do town every few minutes for a new EQ !
