Chilly DevLogs from Alaska ! #76 Building and Functions

Welcome to another development update from Alaska Gold Fever - our survival/simulation game set during the legendary Gold Rush in the wilds of Alaska.
In this devlog, weโre focusing on three new structures weโve recently added to the world: the Bank, the Shed and the Weapon Shop.
Here's how we built them in 3D and what roles theyโll play in the game!

๐ง 3D Development:

We designed the bank as a classic wooden structure from the late 1800s โ complete with a large signboard, a front porch, and reinforced doors. We took inspiration from historical photos of Dawson City during the gold rush.
Modeling was done in Blender, using a combination of custom meshes and PBR materials (weathered wood, metal details, dirty glass) to create that gritty frontier look.

๐๏ธ In-Game Functions:[/h2]
-Safe deposit for storing your gold and cash โ protects from theft or accidents.
-Loan system โ take out loans to purchase better tools, land, or upgrades.
-Loan system can be usefull to prevent "softlocking" by players (when you lose all your gold and EQ)

๐ง 3D Development:[/h2]
This building was created as a modular structure - easy to adapt into different uses like stalls, small workshops, or repair stations. The core design is open, with wooden shelves, crates, and a handmade sales counter. The style is rough, functional, and fully in line with the DIY nature of frontier life.

๐๏ธ In-Game Functions:[/h2]
-Buy/sell basic supplies โ food, tools, machine parts, and fuel.
-Hide from snowing.
-Future upgrade paths: expanding the shed into a full-fledged store or outpost.

[h2]๐ซ Weapon Shop
๐ง 3D Development:[/h2]
The weapon shop was built to match the rugged aesthetic of the game โ think timber-framed exterior with reinforced windows and a secure interior for storing firearms and ammo. We placed special attention on lighting and interior space so players can inspect gear up close. Interior will shown later in future devlogs ;)

๐๏ธ In-Game Functions:

-Purchase weapons โ rifles, pistols, shotguns (for defense against wildlife or hostile NPCs).
-Buy ammo and upgrades
-In the future: hunting licenses, gun customization bench, and rare weapon drops.
