Chilly DevLogs from Alaska ! #19
Welcome to nineteen DevLog for Alaska Gold Fever!
Hello travelers!
Welcome in Alaska!
Today we will learn some interesting facts! Not only from our upcoming game but also from human history!
Who are Innuits ?
As Wikipedia states:
Inuit are a group of culturally similar indigenous peoples inhabiting the Arctic and subarctic regions of Greenland, Labrador, Quebec, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and Alaska. Inuit languages are part of the Eskimo–Aleut languages, also known as Inuit-Yupik-Unangan, and also as Eskaleut.
Inuit Sign Language is a critically endangered language isolate used in Nunavut.
Pretty interesting !
I really recommend checking other articles of Innuits on other sites ! You can find it in web for free!
We also have an interesting book about it but we will show title only on our Twitter account, check it out :)
So today i gonna show you some details about making an young Innuit's woman from concept art to 3D model !!
Concept first!!
Concept art first of course ;)
Nice and colorfull !
Our graphic team have done some research on those people to better exhibit them in media !
Details are important!
Body and soul
"My body on monday"
Just kidding! I love my job ! :D
First shaping a body. Most humanoids creatures ( like, well... uh, humans) have the same body shape so it's standard procedure ;) Making a troll or orc is much harder !!!
You can play with this 3D body on it's own, sometimes funny glitches appear ;)

Interesting stuff about making a more complicated clothing ( a robe or coat in this in this case )
First you gonna make a "patterns" in 2D and then well add them to the model. Sounds weird i know, just look at the GIF and you will see what i mean :D
Legwear
Boots, shoes - some philospher once said that is the most important piece of wardrobe a human can wear. It measure where you live (warm or cold climate) and what you do (expensive boots or poor boots). Are you agree with that?
See a details of fully rendered boots here
Face and hair
When i first saw this material about teeth i was like "whoah!!"
These teeth really creeped me out ! ;D

Here we can see some face and hairs from different ankles!

Oh, and don't forget about some little but important details!
This spear was specifically shaped to resemble an real ones that Innuits was using.

Almost ready ;) She looks really cool !
So what will be her role in the Alaska Gold Fever?
I can't tell :D But important NPC is important NPC !
More devlogs coming soon!
Every garage sale be like:
"I got this old pants for sale and they are worth 8 $ "
