Chilly DevLogs from Alaska ! #32
Welcome to thirty-second DevLog for Alaska Gold Fever!
Hello travelers!
Greetings, adventurers of Alaska Gold Fever! Today, we're thrilled to share the captivating process of bringing the our iconic character Cormac Sullivan to life in stunning 3D, using the incredible Blender software (and others).
Meet Cormac Sullivan - part 2
Cormac is a weathered and rugged Alaskan prospector, his appearance reflecting a life of resilience and determination. Surviving in the harsh environment has made him a guiding star for other adventurers seeking gold.
However, he remains tight-lipped and untrusting, only willing to share his knowledge with those who prove their worth through mining gold themselves.
As players complete quests for him, they may earn his trust and gain access to his valuable expertise, but only experienced adventurers stand a chance of earning his respect.
Cormac's form takes shape
In the vast digital world of Blender, Cormac's essence began as a simple sphere, a blank canvas awaiting transformation.
With unwavering determination (like Sullivan), we embarked on a sculpting adventure!

So the first thing is of course a body. A body type. and i assume it not about fat or thin character but more like "what body type i need" . Will i need a HUMANOID? or some BEAST? But if it beasy so what shape of beast? a wolf-like? dragon-like? Hopefully we just need a himan character so it's easy for this time :D If a game have more diverse range of characters (enemies and such) a 3D sculpting can take a much more. In Alaska we just need some humands and few animals so its nice.
What is "Default human face" ?! Who have it??? A first human? So it should be monkey-like :DAttire of the experienced PROSPECTOR
Cormac's pants in 3D are a sight to behold!
They're practically the eighth wonder of the world. It's rumored that the modeling software couldn't handle the sheer ruggedness of his pants and had to take a break to recover (we recently had some RAM-emergency in our company ;) About any PC equipment - remember kids: always push it in very carefully ! ).

Details about details
Cormac's attire spoke volumes about his resilience.
We shaped the clothing to accentuate his rugged charm, each patch and wear proudly revealing the trials of his Alaskan life. Remember: The details are important! ;)
And there is a way to not burden performacne too much even with little details like little buttons

What is it? a texture used on some bushes in Alaskan wilderness?

Not exactly :D It's a moustache!

Nowadays making such details is easy (well not THAT easy) but in 90' there was no way of adding such detailed hairs and moustaches. Rememeber PS1 era?
Respected and famous but... something is amiss
Despite the harsh Alaskan environment, Cormac's appearance is nothing short of legendary.
Some say he looks like "Yes-Chad" decided to go off the grid and survive in the wild. Just look at this similarites :D

And that's all for today!
Remember our game will be minig-related but also don't forget to uncover the secrets of the Klondike and forge bonds with NPC characters!
