How To Migrate Your Save Files From Xbox to Steam

[p]Hey Exofarmers![/p][p]Since announcing that we'll be leaving Xbox Game Pass on March 15th, we've seen a lot y'all making the jump to the Steam version of the game. We've had many questions about transferring save files, so we thought we'd put together a guide.[/p][p]Currently, there is no way to directly move a save file from Xbox to Steam. However, you can make Shared copies of your save files and share them across platforms. This requires owning the game on both Xbox/Microsoft Store and Steam. Here's how to do it:[/p]
  • [p]Load up your Xbox/Microsoft Store version of Lightyear Frontier[/p]
  • [p]Go to Multiplayer > Host Multiplayer, then find the save file you want to transfer[/p]
  • [p]Press the F key or Y button (default bindings) to Create Shared Copy of the save file[/p]
    • [p]The Shared copy will appear under the Shared tab[/p]
  • [p]Host the Shared copy of your save file as a multiplayer session[/p]
    • [p]Check your invite code in the pause menu[/p]
  • [p]Load up your Steam version of Lightyear Frontier[/p]
  • [p]On the Steam version, use the invite code to join the multiplayer session[/p]
    • [p]Joining a Shared save file will give you access to the save file, even while the original host is not around[/p]
    • [p](Optional) Create a Standard copy of your Shared save file(s)[/p]
[p]And you're done![/p][p]All world-based progression will be carried over, including day count, completed deliveries, available Mech Power, crafted items in storage, built Constructs etcetera. Items in your personal inventory and character-specific progression like crafted Mech Parts and Mods, loadouts, and some completed missions will not be carried over. For all intents and purposes, you are joining your existing save file as a new player. To make this transition easier, we recommend recycling your Mech Parts and Mods and putting the resources (along with everything else in your personal inventory) in storage so you can easily craft everything again.[/p][p]This oughta get you right back to farming and crafting with minimal interruptions. Thanks for making the Automation Update a big success, everyone![/p]
