Available on Steam June 20th!

We're thrilled to announce Summoners Fate will be releasing into Early Access on June 20th 10AM PT!

Summoners Fate has been in development for the past 6 years. Turn-based tactics games are my lifelong passion, and developing this game has been the culmination of over 15 years work since I started my journey developing turn-based games professionally in 2006.

My team and I are so excited to finally bring Summoners Fate to the Steam community, and we hope you enjoy playing the game as much as we've enjoyed making it!

Why Early Access?

One of the core pillars of our design studio is "community driven development". Player feedback is at the heart of what drives us each day. It's our goal to create the best possible turn-based tactics roguelike deckbuilder experience, and we want you to be a part of it!

Consider our Early Access as your chance to be a game designer on our team and shape the future of what Summoners Fate will become. We sincerely want you to share your feedback about the design, suggest new ideas for cards and characters, and engage in discussions with us about mechanics that work or don't work and why.

Are you for real?

Yes, absolutely!

Prior to our Steam debut, we’ve been actively engaging the player community since 2016. In fact, our game concept was first pitched and brought to life during a live chat discussion on Google Hangouts with players of our first turn-based tactics game, Hero Mages.

Since that time, we've involved players in the process across Kickstarter, social media, and in person at events like PAX and Dreamhack. We’ve even live-streamed our development and created viewer directed content.

Players have directly impacted the game in notable ways including:
  1. The ridiculously funny Treant “super slap”
  2. A Druid who hurls squirrels at her enemies and breeds them into an army of mutant hulk squirrels
  3. Creative character names like “D’Orc Slayer” (the orc chief)
  4. The dreaded horse demon who offers incredible powers but demands a sacrifice.
  5. A mischievous red imp who steals characters from the opposing team to join you, but then defects to the enemy team.

We fully intend to continue this trend throughout the development, and we're so serious about it that our game even comes equipped with an in-game feedback tool that automatically adds your ideas to our development backlog.

We hope you join us for the Early Access launch of Summoners Fate and become an integral part of helping to create an exceptional community and game experience.

Kelly Streams Summoners Fate

It's been an amazing "Going Rogue" with you during the Steam event. It's been an exciting week for Summoners Fate. We've had the pleasure of welcoming so many new members to our community and even the honor of achieving the #1 most downloaded Roguelike demo earlier this week. We'd like to thank all of our players who supported us by playing the demo and Wishlisting the game, as well as our new partner, WhisperGames who did an exceptional job with localizing and introducing the game to Asia.

With the "Going Rogue" event coming to a close, we have one last amazing broadcast in store for you: D20Studios marketing manager, Kelly, is going to introduce you to the exciting world and gameplay that awaits you in Summoners Fate.

Kelly plays several roles on the D20Studios team, including marketing, social media, art directing, and creative design. She's responsible for many of the awesome ideas in Summoners Fate. She's written lore storylines including those for the Vampire Lord and Pharaoh. She's designed original characters such as the Steampunk Celestial Timekeeper Rats. And she brings her charming sense of humor to the game and our newsletter.

Kelly has a strange sense of gaming humor...

But she owns it and our fans love it!

Kelly's an avid fan of video games, and some of her favorites are Diablo, Halo, Knight Squad and of course, Summoners Fate.

Watch the broadcast on our store page or broadcast page and also be sure to play our demo before the event ends and Wishlist Summoners Fate.

We hope you enjoy the broadcast and look forward to answering your questions during the stream.

Roguelike Gamers: The Next Generation

Roguelike Gamers: The Next Generation

The turn-based roguelike genre was born at the dawn of PC gaming. Roguelikes were once the only gaming option for the early computer enthusiasts who braved booting up these classic titles on DOS. But in today's world of fast paced first person shooters, physics-powered beat 'em ups, and well... Minecraft - how can the turn-based roguelike genre possibly hope to survive in the future?

Our solution: We need to introduce this genre to the next generation of gamers. One things that's particularly awesome about Summoners Fate: even though it's a hard-core, deep, and highly intricate rules driven game, we've designed it such that it can be picked up, played, and enjoyed by all ages.

As one of our recent players put it:

The is right on par for the type of game that I like to provide for my daughters, as entry level RPG gamers. It has an exemplary balance of accessibility and depth, making it a game we would equally become enthralled with. That's the ideal. Shared interest enables meaningful discussion that builds bonds. Kudos to you for some fine work.

Indeed, Summoners Fate is a family-friendly game and a perfect way to introduce the next generation of gamers into this genre we all love and grow closer together.

Introducing Wesley

Wesley, my son, has been helping me play test the game since I started development, and he's been instrumental in finding and fixing bugs. His passion for games has been evident since he was 2 years old, mastering games like Geometry Dash, Bad Piggies and Crossy Road on the iPad, creating worlds in Minecraft, and beating Terraria on hard mode.

Join us tomorrow (Friday) at 9:30AM for this special broadcast featuring Wesley, who take you through the experience of Summoners Fate :)

Dev Gameplay Streams

In addition, I'll be hosting a few developer streams so you can check out some of the additional content that's in store for you when we release the game. Over six years of blood, sweat, tears and a lot of love have gone into the making of Summoners Fate, and I can't wait to share our latest update with you.

Our first stream starts tomorrow at 8:00AM -> 12:00PM MT. I'll personally be playing the game and answering any questions you have in our chat channel here on Steam.

I can't say for certain that we may (most definitely will) get to attend a goblin birthday party :)

Hope to see you there!

Cheers,

~Ross

Summoners Fate is NGDC 2021 Game of the Year

We're excited to announce that Summoners Fate made it to the NGDC Grand Finals and won the competition to receive their prestigious Game of the Year award.

The Nordic Game Discovery Contest is an exciting, competitive challenge where selected game projects are showcased live in pitch competitions. The grand finals were broadcast during the Nordic Game Expo 2021 on November 5th, 2021. The NGDC selected 12 finalists games from around the world during qualifier events held throughout the year. To make it to the finals, Summoners Fate first had to win the US Qualifier held at Dreamhack Beyond in July 2021. Then, to make it to grand finals, Summoners Fate was selected along with Project Haven and There You Are by the judges from the 12 finalists to compete in a live broadcast at the Nordic Game Expo.

Each team was introduced with a video tour of their game studio. Here's ours:

During the live broadcast, we had to answer rapid-fire questions from the judges in a gameshow like fashion. These included questions about the game's design and our business model. Finally, each of the three teams had to present a final "last chance" material to convince the judges they were worthy of champion. We captured the judges' final votes with a video montage of our players reacting to their experience playing Summoners Fate:

It was an honor to compete with such talented game studios across the globe, and we are proud to take the win!

We're planning to release our game on Steam later this year, and we're looking forward to sharing a new demo with you during the upcoming Steam NextFest that will run February 21st - 28th.
