DevLog: How about the clothes?

Dealer, as a true businessperson, you need to make yourself presentable. So, what do you dress in, you ask? Well, let’s see!

First of all, you gotta customise your character! And yes, you can already do that in the demo. You can change your shoes, pants, tops, hats, backpacks and jewellery. And they’re not just a decoration: your clothes do impact your stats.

What stats get impacted by your great looks?
 • Agility – impacts your overall mobility and performance of parkour;
 • Visibility – impacts your visibility to others;
 • Comfort – impacts the duration of status effects, both positive and negative;
 • SWAG – helps in your negotiations and gaining more respect;
 • SUS – affects how suspicious you look.

Some items of clothing can also add more storage slots and quickslots. And some clothes also add secret slots, which are handy when you get accosted by bandits trying to steal your stuff. All the items stashed in the secret slots are less likely to be discovered and taken away from you.

To buy new clothes simply visit the clothes shop. To change, interact with a wardrobe in your hideout or with the changing room in the shop.

What look will you be going for?

DevLog: So what’s the hideout?

Dealers, time to look into one of the most important aspects of being a businessperson: your headquarters!

And in this case, hideouts.

You start your adventure with one hideout, your trusty bunker you wake up in. As you progress through the story, you unlock the option to buy more locations. Obviously, you’re not buying a pig in a poke – before deciding to spend your hard-earned money you can get inside the prospective hideout and take a good look around.

And take a good look around you should, as the place’s size and location is not the only thing that matters. Some hideouts will have running water which allows you to grow cannabis there without having to run to the nearest shop to buy some. Some hideouts will have phone cables you can use to set up a telephone and gain the ability to listen to recorded messages. It’s a very important decision you gotta make there!

As any good businessperson, you will want your headquarters to look their best. And be functional, duh. You can furnish your hideout however you like. If you invest in a bed, you can sleep in it to skip the time at night. And if you place the correct types of furniture, you can increase your handy space.

What is the handy space?
It’s a storage of a kind. But it gets better – handy space is available everywhere in your hideout. You don’t need to interact with a specific box to get things out. Just open your inventory when in the hideout and you can move things from the handy space and into your own inventory. Neat!

Another important feature of your hideout is substance storage. You can upgrade that storage to hold more varieties of substances by placing additional containers.

And there is also the very real-life matter of bills and waste! You make produce – you produce waste along with it. It’s gonna take the valuable space in your hideout so you will need to get rid of it. No littering and polluting the environment tho! We’re eco. Pay for the fee and professionals are gonna remove the trash for ya. And, of course, as you use water and electricity, you gonna pay your bills. If you don’t, you’re gonna lose your reputation very quick.

So, are you ready for furniture shopping?

DevLog: Vroom vroom! Wait, what’s that ride?

There’s something brand new for y’all, Dealers.

There are now a lot of ways you can move around the map, and all of them have their pros and cons. You need not run everywhere on foot anymore if you don’t want to.

Time to show your status and buy a boat! Or something else.
Walking
Pros: It’s free. You can get like that to nearly every spot on the island.
Cons: Takes time, duh. Also, you might encounter bandits who will try to rob you. Not fun.
Busses - Quicktravel
Pros: Travelling by bus is relatively cheap and you can move between bus stops.
Cons: Busses drive only between 6 am and 10 pm, and there are not a lot of bus stops, actually.

Remember to buy a ticket!
Powerboat - manual control
Pros: You can pack your entire coop party into the boat, there are no time restrictions, and you will not meet anyone who wants to rob you of your living. Oh, and you can stash some dope in your boat, too!
P.S.
There are different types of boats (smaller, bigger). In some of them you will be alone, sad but true. You have to earn a bigger boat.
Cons: Boats are EXPENSIVE. And if that’s not enough, you do need to refuel occasionally and you can dock only in permitted areas. Bummer.
Mainland transportation (car, bike) – Quicktravel
Pros: Just like with a boat, you can travel with people, stash things in the car and travel at any point in time without a care in the world.
Cons: And just like with the boat, they are expensive, need to be refuelled, and you can’t just park anywhere.

So, time to sell a lot of dope and buy a boat! Or a car. Or you can be a cheap bunny and run everywhere on foot. The choice is yours!

DevLog: Dealer, how to deal?

Yo, so what’s the deal? Or, how do you deal?

In DDS2, dear Dealers, you will become a true person of business. And, as a person of business, you will need to set meetings with your clientele. To do this, use your trusty early 2000s phone. You know, this indestructible little brick that’s eternally burned into your memory if you ever had one.

You can meet your clients between 9 AM and 8 PM. If you respond to their messages quickly, you will earn more reputation, but if you ignore them, you will lose reputation. JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE.

Reputation is generally a thing you should care about. If you are slow or don’t deliver at all, you’ll lose clients. You can’t run a business without clients!

On the other hand, if you take care of them, and maybe give them something extra, then they’re going to love you.

But how to wrap your mind around meetings with these dummiyour beloved clients? Well, every business shark needs a calendar! And you do get one in DDS2. Just take a look.

It's not that easy to cater to everyone. Each region has its preferred products. Once you get bigger and expand, you'll need employees to handle deliveries. Just select where you want them to work on the map, and leave the product for them in a deaddrop. Your people will take care of the rest and give you money once you talk with them (or invite them to the hideout).

However, the dealers you hire will get a share of your proceeds! Yes, the life of a dealer isn't easy. At first, it ain't much, but it's dishonest work. Only after working hard you can reap your rewards and live a life of luxury.

Taste a bit of it in the demo - incoming December 18.

DevLog: Incoming demo and the PRODUCT *wink wink*

How are you today, Dealers? Y’all ready for the upcoming demo? Good news: it’s almost here! On December 18, you’ll get a free sample of goodness to come. Make sure to play it, because this time it’s a time-limited demo. It’ll be up until January 2.

The demo will be LONG, and it will have a lot of things we planned for the full game. In the next few days, we’ll talk about what’s in the demo, how it works, and how you can use it.

Let’s start with…

THE DRUPRODUCT!

First, the facts.

In the demo, you will find 2 types of products (there will be many more in the full game): cannabis and amphetamine. You can either buy the product to sell or prepare it yourself.

If you choose to prepare the product, you can do it at a hideout.
So how to produce pot?
• Buy the ingredients: water, fertilizer, seeds.
 • Plant the seeds (e.g. in a growbox) to grow the plant.
 • Use the drier to dry the herbs.
And how to make amphetamine?
• Buy the ingredients. Different ingredients are needed depending on which recipe you choose. You can see the recipe in the cooker.
 • Buy a cooker and a pot.
 • Prepare the amphetamine base (amphetamine salts, according to one of three recipes).
 • Prepare the amphetamine using the cooker.

The above is a simple recipe, you’ll come across more advanced ones as you develop your cartel in the game.

However!

Making the product isn’t enough. You need to portion and pack it, too. To do it, you must have a laboratory tray, plastic bags or stretch wrap, and duct tape.

PSA: We do not encourage you to try this at home. You will fail anyway because these are not 100% accurate production processes. This is a game. “A great game!” you might say, and we would nod with approval. But still, just a game.

Have fun! And let us know how your chef career went in the demo. We have a special place for feedback on our Discord.

Remember – December 18 is the day. See ya on Isla Sombra!

Release date little FAQ
Q: When?
A: Q1 2024

We decided to push the premiere to the next year. We know you're waiting eagerly to play it, but here's the thing: we want to make the best game we can, and that takes time. We want it to be polished.

We're having the closed playtest, soon there will be an open demo. The goal is to get your feedback and apply it. This takes time because DDS2 is much, MUCH bigger than the first game. You'll see it yourself - the demo alone should take hours to complete! We hope it'll show you the scope of what we're trying to do, the care that we put into the game, and the reason why we want it to be just right.

Q: So, why?
A: The above. Also,
