Battle Train News

Battle Train is rolling into the station with an explosive new update!

[p][/p][p]Hi all! [/p][p][/p][p]We’re super excited to tell you all about the giant mega update coming to Battle Train on September 4th.  It’s basically two updates in one, both with substantial new stuff, along with a couple fixes to some bugs reported by the community (thank you!)[/p][p][/p][p]First, we’ve got ENDLESS MODE!!!  Endless Mode is just what it sounds like: as long as you survive, you can keep crushing your enemies.  Here’s what you’ll be seeing in game:[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]A new submenu for the “play” button, to keep the main menu nice and uncluttered[/p]
  • [p]The Endless Overworld, balanced to make opponents more difficult as you hit each subsequent map[/p]
  • [p]Additional map boards for minigames, to keep things from getting repetitive for those super long survival runs[/p]
  • [p]An Endless Mode Leaderboard, because honestly, it’s all about bragging rights, isn’t it?[/p]
[p][/p][p]As for bug fixes, we’ve addressed the following:[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Your display name should now fit on the leaderboard[/p]
  • [p]Each train part slot should now only have ONE part assigned to it for the daily run[/p]
  • [p]Your incredibly long, high damage locomotives should be able to finish hitting your target without timing out now, which was causing catastrophic mayhem (to turn progression, as well as to the enemy outpost).[/p]
  • [p]Run durations should now properly reset, which was previously leading to a series of issues.[/p]
  • [p]Cards should show consistently as the correct type[/p]
  • [p]And some translation corrections[/p]
[p][/p][p]Then, as if that wasn’t enough, we are also releasing our first DLC, Revenge of the Puffin!  Do you love the Battle Train story?  Do you want… more?  How about more opponents, more puzzles, and more maps?  Well, friend, we have got you covered!  Revenge of the Puffin includes:[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]A new chapter of the Battle Train story[/p]
  • [p]A new custom Overworld, where player progression is saved, and players can take multiple runs at challenging bosses or puzzle levels.[/p]
  • [p]A new champion and new grunts[/p]
  • [p]New cards, trains, stickers, and hats![/p]
  • [p]New custom maps, designed to provoke your problem solving skills[/p]
  • [p]New custom Explodathon puzzles[/p]
  • [p]A new Snowy Environment[/p]
[p][/p][p]Frankly, we cannot wait to see how you all like it.  We think it’s pretty darn neat.[/p][p]Battle Train Endless Mode Update and Revenge of the Puffin DLC will be available on Steam on September 4th, and Switch on September 5th.[/p]

We’ve got a Hotfix for you!!!

[p][/p][p]Hello, Battle Train players! [/p][p][/p][p]First and foremost, we’d like to thank every single one of you who has played Battle Train and reached out to us with your feedback. Your positive comments mean the world to us, and your constructive criticism helps us make the game better![/p][p][/p][p]On that second point, we’ve got some updates we think you’ll be excited to see.[/p][p][/p][p]●       We’ve updated the way we are tracking Door of Worthiness progress, as well as the frequency of story nodes, to address feedback from you all–progression should be much, much faster and players shouldn’t feel as penalized for not choosing story paths now, which helps with some (although not all) of the story-gate feedback we’ve received[/p][p]●       You can now rebind the keyboard’s directional keys for camera movement/card selection[/p][p]●       We’ve made it more obvious when the player has a connected route and can attack, so that players are less likely to accidentally end their turn without attacking[/p][p]●       You can now view the enemy exhaust/discard pile.[/p][p]●       Battle cards are now smaller on handheld devices, allowing more of the map to be visible[/p][p]●       We fixed the AI getting stuck for a long time when trying to place a Deployable type of object[/p][p]●       We removed a hidden mana cost penalty for the AI playing the first card in a turn[/p][p]●       The hat shop will no longer spawn in segment 1 of a run, since no one ever has enough gold to buy anything at that point.[/p][p]●       The “impossible-without-bombs” card rush maps have been edited to… well… not be impossible…[/p][p]●       Some Trinket Route modifier issues should be resolved, allowing them to correctly apply every time.[/p][p]●       Smoke Bomb card effect reduced to 1 turn[/p][p]●       AI no longer has access to barricade track cards[/p][p]●       AI no longer has access to the Build-A-Mine card, which was causing softlock issues[/p][p]●       Trinkets that give a healing buff on win should now have a visible effect[/p][p]●       Trinkets that give a random chance for extra mana have had their seed fixed.[/p][p]●       Edited the icon for the Power of Love buff[/p][p]●       For our Steam Deck players - external controllers on the Steam Deck should now properly handle secondary controller inputs[/p][p][/p][p]Thank you again for being part of the Battle Train Community. We’re continuing to add to the game and are happy to see such enthusiastic players! We have NEWS!!!

We are incredibly thrilled to finally be able to let you in on the latest Battle Train News!

While we initially set out to self-publish Battle Train, our goal is to make the best game possible. We've had many opportunities cross our paths, and one such opportunity felt too good to pass up. That said, we're proud to announce that we’re now working with Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. to bring Battle Train to more folks in a couple of exciting ways.

You’ve probably heard of Bandai Namco Entertainment. They’ve been around about as long as our entire industry and are known as the publishers behind everything from PAC-MAN™ to Elden Ring™ to Katamari Damacy™ (AKA, the silliest game with the best game soundtrack ever made).

Look, we know Battle Train is good. Our friends and family know Battle Train is good. But getting word to the general gaming community has been an uphill battle for us, so having Bandai Namco Entertainment on board to help increase our visibility is awesome… but while marketing is crucial, this news is about more than just marketing.

With Bandai Namco Entertainment’s support, we were able to extend development and add more to the game, polish the heck out of it, and really make this game sing. We’re really pleased with the results. We’ve added extra cards, extra trains, extra trinkets, and extra time making sure Battle Train is an amazing gaming experience.

ALSO, we’re not just releasing on PC!!! We’ll be bringing the ludicrous action of Battle Train to the Nintendo Switch™ as well! Surprise!!!

Now, for those of you who have been waiting to get your hands on the game, we also have a release date to announce! Battle Train will be available for purchase on June 18th.

You can check out Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc.’s official write-up about this news here:

Thank you for your support. Thank you for your patience. And, as always, thank you for being part of the Terrible Posture Games community.

SUGOI Showcase!!

Battle Train is delighted to announce our participation in the SUGOI Showcase on March 27th!

The showcase is spotlighting games that live up to their name – ridiculously awesome. Games that show new angles on beloved genres, go off the rails and break the rules a bit, or are just so odd that they leave a mark. Battle Train is gonna fit right in.

They'll be streaming live on YouTube as they kick off the Steam Event, and you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cud7vqpdEoA
