Lushfoil is available now!

It's the end of a long road, I'm exhausted. It's intimidating to finally put Lushfoil out there, but I'm also overwhelmingly excited to see what people can create with it. I hope the game falls into the right hands, and that those people with a sense of experimentation and creativity can surprise us all with what they've taken. I've put a lot of love and intention into the environments created in this game, and now it feels like time to pass it on. I can't wait to see the photos you take!

Lushfoil Photography Sim review


Primarily, Lushfoil Photography Sim is โ€“ spoilers โ€“ a photography sim. Then itโ€™s a walking sim. Then itโ€™s a photography sim again. Then more walking. Then itโ€™s a photography teacher, and a very calm and cool one at that; the kind that would lay down in liquid mud to shoot a daffodil at just the right angle, then get back up and say "Ahhh, that's lovely" in a gentle New Zealand accent.


This specific quality accounted for much of my initial interest, being someone who owns a DSLR yet has no clue what half the buttons are for. Lushfoil Photography Sim is a pretty effective instructor, though by choosing a series of stonkingly gorgeous natural beauty spots as its classrooms, itโ€™s even more effective at provoking a general wanderlust that has โ€“ repeatedly but quite happily โ€“ derailed my studies.

Lushfoil will be released 15th April, 2025

Hello all!

Proud to finally announce that Lushfoil will come to Steam on April 15, 2025.

Thanks to the extra time, I've been able to include plenty of new additions, such as animals, vintage camera choices, in-depth camera tutorials, environment manipulation tools, and other secrets.

To those who've been here waiting, I'm very grateful that you have stuck with the project despite my presence and progress being so inconsistent. I've learned that game development work has the potential to become extremely long and exhaustive, and it can be difficult to remain creatively iterative when buried under loads of technical jargon and issues. It has been tough to adjust to, I'm usually the kind of person to just hit upload on any finished work, avoid over-iteration, call it done and work on something new.

But through the last 6 years, I've tried my best to stay true to the core design philosophies and ideas that make Lushfoil so enjoyable and relaxing. This project was created out of the nostalgia and idealization of my first few travel experiences abroad. I have really tried to culminate all my technical and creative skills to bring these places to life in the most immersive way possible. Even after so many years I still enjoy the game as it is, hopefully you'll feel the same.

New Lushfoil Demo Launches Today as Part of Steam Next Fest

A ton of progress has been made and Lushfoil Photography Sim is nearing completion. Starting today, as part of Steam Next Fest, a new demo is available for all to play. This timed demo includes three locations from the final game for players to explore at their own place and capture with a huge suite of photography tools.
