Early Access Roadmap & Release Date Announcement
Don’t Die in the West will go into Early Access on November 9th, 2023

The journey so far…
Since the start of the playtest, this little game of ours took more twists and turns than a tumbleweed in a dust storm. As more players joined our community and played the early beta versions of the game, we’ve been very grateful for your help through feedback, bug reports, and ideas. The game’s quickly grown and is soon to be ready for Early Access.
The stage is set, what’s on the horizon?
With the Launch in Early Access, we reckon that the pillars of the game have been established and are now ready for everyone to join in on the fun. During Early Access, we’ll keep our ear to the ground, listen to your feedback, and make sure we implement changes and features that make sense for the game’s state at the time and align with community feedback.
Where does the path of the Wild West go next, partners?
To guide this journey, we put together an Early Access Roadmap that lays out both your suggestions and our ideas for the future of Don’t Die in the West.
Dread Valley
We kick off our first content update “Dread Valley”, exploring a new part of the prairie. On your journey, you’ll discover new resources, and learn new recipes. Fight off new enemies, and even meet ghosts. Are they friendly or hostile? You’ll have to check that for yourself.
Forest outlaws
Our second big drop will be “Forest Outlaws” with a whole new slice of wilderness, which we’re calling “Westwood”, for now. This update is packing lots of new content and improvements. Such as:
Frontier Life
Next on our trail, we’re exploring life on the frontier with fresh new characters and quests being introduced to the game. Although quality-of-life changes will be made constantly based on your feedback, we might take some time to make some bigger changes to give you a smoother gameplay experience. Plus, we’ll also introduce additional encounters based on your feedback.
Friendly fire
While every adventure might kick off solo, it’s always more exciting to have your friends riding by your side. We definitely noticed how much fun you had in co-op during the playtest, so we are aiming to expand on all the co-op mechanics that we have, we want to introduce mounts and setpieces that can support multiple players at the same time. And we’re throwing in an emote wheel to let y’all express your feelings - be they anger or happiness.
Though we still have many more great ambitions and ideas, this is as far as our eyes can see for now in our journey. In between the big updates, we’ve got a lot of other ideas we’d like to implement when we get the chance.
When you have so many ideas but so little time you have to make choices on what to implement and what to switch around. So, please keep in mind, partner, that these features and release plans might change based on a lot of factors, especially depending on feedback from our trusty community.
Now that the map’s been drawn, we’re super excited to get this rodeo started!
We’re looking forward to sharing the upcoming new content with you! A huge thank you for your feedback - without y’all, we couldn’t have come this far.
Warm howdies,
The Don't Die in the West team

- We will be adding new outfits that will grant you a variety of effects. Also, you will now be able to change outfits during gameplay. A true greenhorn always aims to look sharp.
- Worktables will see overall improvements and include new crafting options.
- Last but not least, we will add more building elements and deeds so you can make your dream ranch even dreamier.
