In this development log, we want to share with you some of our original visual concepts related to Spooktober. Let’s take a quick peek at the secrets in the abandoned gold mines.

As a cowboy in search of money and fame you discover an abandoned old mine. Imagining piles of gold you waste no time and rush in with your gang.

Soon you discover that getting rich won't be easy as you are surrounded by swarms of venomous spiders and rats ready to eat you.



After you get rid of the mine vermin you continue your search only to discover a green shimmer of light in the distance. This is when you get to meet the original resident of the mine old Joe Dynamite!



He is the spirit of an old miner obsessed with finding as much gold as possible and he is ready to put up a fight if you try to steal it. Because of this he has been unable to move on to the afterlife and is forever bound to the mine.

We look forward to sharing more about the mines with you as we reveal more information about the game in the future.

Don´t Die in the West dev team

Howdy folks!

As we are steadily moving towards the first Closed Beta we are making a lot of changes to the game. With this update we want to take you on a quick ride to meet some of the residents of the Old West.

Welcome to Tumbleville! Population…you. As the slickest cowboy in the West, you must also have the best look.





We are working on implementing a character customization feature where you will be able to show off all your cowboy costumes. You will be able to customize features such as hairstyle, outfit, colors, and most importantly swap different hat styles.

Up next we have the good ol’ Gold digger. He is a pretty lonesome guy that likes to hang out in the wild. Make sure to find him, he might have something valuable for you. Oh and please don’t try to rob him, he is not a big fan of thieves and will definitely teach you a lesson.



Keep messing with the wrong people and you will quickly make acquaintance with the Soldiers. Commonly known for upholding the law, they don’t shy away from bending the law in favor of the highest bidder. Make sure to plan your next move carefully and avoid any fights with these tough guys.



After a long day of gathering, building, and shooting you can always drop by the saloon in town. Here you can meet the owner - a welcoming host but a very short-tempered fella. He can sell you some valuable items if you have enough gold. Whatever you do, DON’T touch his pianola!



To become a famous cowboy in the West you need to accomplish great feats. To do this you could test your luck and challenge the Dawson gang. A dangerous group of bandits hiding in the shadows of the mountains outside of Tumbleville. Do you have the guts to fight for glory?

Howdy folks!

With a long journey behind us, we can finally reveal the passion project that we have been working on. We´re excited to announce that Don´t Die in the West is present on Steam.

The development of Don´t Die in the West started with a small team of western movie fans. Inspired by the worlds of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Django Unchained, and other classics - we thought that an open-world multiplayer survival game is a perfect fit for the genre.

Explore the wilderness with up to 4 friends. Plan heists, bank robberies, or hang out together by the campfire. You and your mates choose how to build your legend and become the most notorious gang in the West. Or choose the path of a lone survivor and create your legacy.

Synopsis

After a successful heist back in New York, you and your gang escape by train to Dead Hill frontier town. Dreaming of fame & fortune you remember the good old saying: "There is no honor among thieves" as you get shot in the back by your brother-in-arms Van Cleef. He steals the famous Rock-a-Fellow diamond from you and throws you off the train. You survive and wake up in the middle of the desert... explore, survive and choose your path to becoming the next Legend of the Wild West.
