Dear Survivors!

We've been working tirelessly since launching the experimental update, fine-tuning and improving every step of the way. Your incredible feedback has blown us away, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the response from the community! The full release for .916 is on the horizon, and trust us—you won’t want to miss it. Stay tuned, and thanks for being part of this epic journey!

Please make sure you download the latest experimental branch update (restart steam) and in your main menu screen the version should read 0.2 then you’ll be able to access the experimental servers without any issues.

New Stuff / Bugs / QOL / Changes
  • Highly requested feature: Downward attacks now added to the game for all melee weapons when attacking downed zeeks and dogs.
  • New map improvements and changes
  • New Double-Barrel Shotgun added can be found at farm loot locations
  • Added ability to move build actor back and forth for controller in FIXED camera mode
  • Added extra check to make player built roofs count as indoors, mainly for temperature
  • Added missing barricade sockets to some newly added buildings
  • Added missing button icons for various buttons
  • Added Welcome message upon joining a dedicated server for new rules coming to official servers
  • Added holding the K key will show player names if you are an admin mode on servers
  • Added admin button to minimap to show where players are on the map
  • Changes to how all items and backpacks save and load to help with server performance (further testing required)
  • Slight change to crossbow SFX
  • Coffee cup spawn rate increased
  • Updated animal harvest interaction UI location
  • Updated bushes to allow you to walk through them instead of climbing them

  • Fixed glasses on face can be seen from first floor by someone wearing them on the second floor
  • Potential fix (again) for the RPG ammo/grenade launcher ammo disappearing due to overstack amount



Known Issues/WIP
  • Sleeping in tent shows floating weapons attachments
  • Map Resetting during a crash
  • Brake light staying on when exiting the vehicle while holding brake input key/button
  • Framerate/stuttering when driving on servers or as a client in a hosted MP session
  • Glass jars not being consumed when crafting light poles
  • Cooked/Salted fish not stacking properly (magically disappearing fish)
  • Meat disappearing in RV cooking slot when added
  • Grass at beach house has collision
  • Unable to pick up items under the prefab shack
  • Pitfall traps are larger than blueprint (need rescaling)
  • Car Jack not allowing to rotate with FIXED mode
  • Cabinet texture off in some homes south of Huddson
  • Zeeks spawning under the houses in Huddson
  • Some assets do not have the snow layer applied (on-going as found)
  • Uzi disappearing when placed in storage (investigating)
  • Some attachments when added to storage disappearing (investigating)

HumanitZ Experimental 916 Update!



Hey Survivors! We have just launched our .916 Experimental Branch update in order to reap that amazing feedback on the NEW controls and camera changes, as well as few of the new additions prior to fully implementing in a full .916 push. There will be missing translations and some minor placeholder items as we work towards a fully stable 916 update. Remember, this is only Experimental Branch. Full release for regular implementation will shortly follow!

PLEASE BEGIN A NEW SAVE WHEN PLAYING EXPERIMENTAL WE ARE NOT RESPONSABLE FOR OLD SAVES

  • Brand new movement and camera system has been added called FIXED! This has been requested for the longest time to have a fixed camera behind the character and we think we have finally achieved it. Internally, we recommend MOVEMENT and FIXED for best utilization.
  • New zombie animations
  • New zombie sound effects
  • New colour options of backpacks
  • New gear slot for glasses
  • New wearable glasses
  • New deployable heater (requires generator)
  • New bullet casing/shell drop SFX added to guns
  • New terrible pool cue weapon added…it’s very, very bad 🙂
  • New kitchen weapons added (frying pan, spoon)
  • New items added to the game for more looting realism, get that small dopamine rush while scavenging. Some items won't have much crafting use currently, but good for decoration or used with traders. More to follow, so pay attention to what you find!
  • New farm animal added: pigs!!!
  • New large Town (Rossville) to discover
  • New self-storage unit location added
  • New lootable storage boxes (random categorized loot)
  • New lootable police car variant

  • When picking up an item that does not fit in your pockets, it will now say “Need Backpack” instead of “Inventory Full”

  • Tweaked handling on a number of vehicles


  • Fixed building items on player built roofs to be hidden when underneath roof tiles
  • Fixed roof tiles only disappearing one at a time due to built items on top of them
  • Fixed glass jars not going into quickslot
  • Fixed map icon selection not working when using the D-pad
  • Fixed gas mask going into hand slot and appearing on face when it isn’t
  • Fixed flashlight beam being seen on second story of structure when viewed from first floor

Ongoing Issues
  • Map returning to blank status when experiencing a power-outage related crash
  • Brake lights of vehicle staying on when exiting the vehicle while holding the brake input key
  • HAZMAT zeeks periodically will not give sound or smoke animation to show pending explosion
  • Performance drops and stutters while driving near high zombie counts or lots of buildings loading in

Loots and Ladders Update

Hey Survivors! I want to start by wishing everyone Happy Holidays and Happy New Year as we push out the final update of 2024. What a year it's been! There have been highs and lows and ups and downs but right now we feel we are working towards our ongoing goal and that is to make HumanitZ the best it possibly can. There is so much more content and features planned for 2025 and beyond!

Server Info: All official servers will be wiped and it’s recommended all server owners to do the same in order to get the best experience from this update.

Localization: The newest language coming to HumanitZ is Italian! It is currently in testing phase and not fully completed but we are working very closely with the translation team and we look to have this added to our next update in Jan 2025. Also, all other previous languages will be fully updated in early 2025 as well as potential for new countries to be added to the game. From our team to all of you in the community making HumanitZ what it is, thank you so much for your support!

Steam Deck: This update we had very little time to focus on Steam Deck so in 2025 it will be a main focus for the team

  • New ladder system has been added, now you can climb to places you couldn't reach and build a safe house away from danger.
  • New sleeping mechanic! The player will now become tired after so many days and eventually hit the red zone causing their stamina to be affected. A quick power nap can give you a “well rested state”, allowing for a stamina buff when you wake up. Additionally, coffee and energy drinks/bars can help you power through being tired for a limited time. We have wanted to add this for a while, and feel that it's balanced enough to give survival players the full experience, but also not taxing enough where it gets in the way of gameplay. This option can be turned off if it's something you don't want to experience in your game via the game settings menu.
  • New tent system added, allowing you to deploy it from your inventory to be used as a container or for you to sleep in. Provides a small heat buff
  • New sleeping bag added that can be deployed from your inventory and used to sleep on. Provides a small heat buff
  • New random NPC trading system! Random NPCs now have a chance of being a trader, treading on Buck’s toes!
  • New Animal Hide from harvesting animals
  • New Tanning Station and Tailoring Station used for creating Animal Hide clothing types
  • New base building items: watcher tower, craftable bed, wooden shelving and half walls
  • New Revolver, the Lori 357, with unique animations added (Walking dead inspired!!)
  • New sheriff clothing items added
  • New fishing hat added for those of you who want to impersonate Buck Fernandez and stop running
  • New police patrol cap added
  • New riot helmet added
  • New ushanka hat added
  • New winter jackets added
  • Zanta Claus has returned!!! Listen carefully…
  • Christmas decor, clothing, and items added

  • Major changes to the PVE servers player protection, now adding ownership to all player created containers which can only be accessed via party members or clan members. Ownership will decay over time just like the spawn point. After 14 days, your stuff is free to any who happen upon it (This is if you have a spawn point placed at your base as containers dont decay while a spawn point is active, if you dont have a spawn point the containers will last 7 days, but each time you join the server the time resets).
  • Big changes to some towns and neighbourhoods so there is more storytelling and passion added to areas of the map which we will continue to update right up until 1.0
  • Water barrel no longer needs to be built from the build menu. It can now be deployed from your inventory.
  • Improved the winter jacket pickup visual to represent the correct clothing
  • Adjusted meat spoilage timer, taking longer to spoil
  • Adjusted starting hunger and thirst values (This is a pre-cursor to future plans, more to follow)
  • Whiskey, cement, battery chargers, fridge compressor, and jump leads now stack
  • Changed original revolver to a new snub nose black variant to help with the Lori .357 addition
  • Bunker key card % chance increased
  • Increased spawn chances of items in garage lockers
  • Zombies can now see through windows (stealth and being out of sight is paramount)
  • Certain hats will cool you down in the summer
  • Varsity Jackets now provide more heat
  • Changed Nailbomb to detonate on impact
  • Changes made to the overall menu system to allow less clicking to get started
  • Moved the Create Character screen to the Main Menu to avoid player confusion. This was actioned due to recent community feedback
  • Adjusted speed of rotating item with gamepad in place mode
  • Purifying water now prioritizes highest quantity dirty water instead of top-most slot in inventory
  • Powered objects when toggled off will remain in that state when turning the generator on again
  • Human AI can now shoot you through windows
  • Improved controller functionality
  • Car horn will no longer work when battery is not installed
  • Reduced health of water barrel
  • Adjusted clothing warmth/cooling mechanic
  • Standing Torch no longer requires build tool


  • We have been hard at work trying to solve players getting stuck while consuming food or performing various interactions. We think we have captured most cases of this long-term issue and hope that it's fixed. If this does happen to you, remember you can press Enter and type /unstuck to fix your character’s animations.
  • Potential fix for achievements not working (fishing for sure) for hosts of a multiplayer session and all players on servers. All achievements can be obtained in single player.
  • Fixed floating mouse cursor when cancelling a blueprint placement in build mode
  • Fixed random spawns of RPG ammo and Grenade Launcher ammo spawning more than allowed stack size, causing it to disappear in inventory on pick-up
  • Fixed Cabbage soup missing spoil status
  • Fixed Cabbage Stew and Meat Stew producing a sealed status when cooked
  • Fixed Spartan Spear breaking at 0% durability when weapon break option is not checked
  • Fixed health bar stuck for some actors when pressing K to show health bars
  • Fixed issue with player teleporting to another spawn if jumping or falling when joining a game
  • Potential fix for player spawning while a car or house has not loaded yet
  • Fixed Resourceful skill not applied to required materials description when placing blueprint
  • Fixed missing third button key for gamepad when interacting with water barrel or similar container
  • Fix for hardcore hud not applying on game load
  • Fixed camera tilting issue when certain actions occur
  • Fixed missing Clan Invite icon on UI for controller use
  • Fixed gun bench blueprint size not matching asset when built
  • Fixed while looting a backpack some items have the equip option when they shouldn't
  • Fixed items from a container not auto-stacking to player inventory when moved
  • Fixed some containers not being hidden in multistory building
  • Fixed food consumption garbage being seen in multi-story houses on lower level
  • Fixed duplicate loot spawners inside Sporting Goods store
  • Fixed Dryer to say Dryer and not Washing Machine
  • Fixed being stuck in walk animation when performing actions (locking vehicle, using sewing kit, etc.)
  • Fixed auto-sort function not properly adding items to the pockets
  • Fixed generator visual disappearing when going under a roof/inside building
  • Fixed generator audio and visuals disappearing while powered and walking a distance away
  • Fixed crafting items/weapons not going straight to your inventory and dropping on ground
  • Fixed being stuck in electrocution animation when powering off an electric fence
  • Fixed barbed wire upgrades on structures not causing damage to zeeks, human AI and players
  • Fixed gamepad issue with compost bin not allowing selecting of fertilizer
  • Fixed looting backpacks some items having an equip option
  • Fixed Hardcore HUD not saving when loading in/out
  • Fixed various quest’s text
