HumanitZ Dev Update

[p]Happy Saturday Survivors!
[/p][p]We're one week into our bi-weekly patch updates and wanted to give you insight into what has been fixed, what we're currently working on, what we're currently investigating, and what you can expect in the near future. Thank you to everyone who has given us that constructive feedback and provided us with the information needed to get things done a little more efficiently.
[/p][p]Issues fixed for next patch (not all inclusive):[/p][p]Bow reloading exploit,[/p][p]Random NPC Quest Givers Not Showing Turn-In Option,[/p][p]FPS drops when turning on headlights, turning on campfires, and torches,[/p][p]FPS drops/freezing when going under player crafted awning, shed, or stable,[/p][p]Multiple Reported Resourceful Skill Issues,[/p][p]Resourceful Skill Glitch Building,[/p][p]Multi-item turn in for quests not working in rare instances,[/p][p]Houses with Backwards doors,[/p][p]Reported Skills Not Working correctly,[/p][p]Deleting Items in First Pocket Slot When Opening Items from Vicinity,[/p][p]Players Shooting Through Doors in PvP,[/p][p]Some Server Settings Not Working Correctly,[/p][p]Reported Floating Loot Spawners,[/p][p]AI population not adapting to new multiplier,[/p][p]Bypassing of Password Protected Servers Using IP Addresses,[/p][p]Hosted Multiplayer Connectivity Issues,[/p][p]
We are actively working on performance optimization for PC and for Steam Deck, that is still our top priority as we're navigating the bugs and issues popping up.
[/p][p]For our PvP players, we are also heavily tweaking the PvP environment, currently focused on weapon damage and structure durability. This is an ever evolving process based on the feedback you provide. Speaking of PvP...
[/p][p]Over the past couple days, we've been strictly monitoring server play. With the influx of players brings in more cheaters, exploiters, and people exhibiting uncouth communication to other Survivors, we have buffed our ranks on our end as we cannot do both fixing issues and monitoring the servers; we just don't have enough people for it. Apart from community reporting, we have a team of dedicated Survivors (Huddson City Police Department) who have been observing, reporting and ferreting out these unfair players and we've been able to squash some issues. Without getting into specifics, we're currently testing and actively implementing anti-cheat measures in order to rapidly detect, notify, and ban players who trigger these systems. This will reduce the in-depth requirements we heavily rely on the community to report in order to aid us in keeping the servers fair and fun.

[/p][p]Additionally as a reminder, we have zero tolerance for racism or calls to violence. This is a permanent ban across all official servers. Regardless of whether you do it once, or multiple times, or if you allude to by using characters other than letters, we will protect the community of players from this type of behavior.[/p][p][/p][p]Furthermore, we have retooled the admin panel for server owners to help assist their players easier. Spawning items, retrieving/unclaiming vehicles, teleporting to and from players all without admin commands are just a few of the things we've given in order to help reduce the redundancy of some of our previous functions. Huge thank you to the members over on the Discord's Private Server Hosting Chat for giving us feedback and insight into what you need to effectively monitor and maintain your community's play spaces!

[/p][p]Regarding the Discord, we've had over 4000 new members join in the last week alone and it has been amazing! With the boom of community members, Dera has recruited a couple more Moderators from the community who have been major contributors and supporters since we went into Early Access. Huge shoutout to Plankt0n and netVnum for stepping up and joining the HZ Team![/p][p][/p][p]Lastly, we are potentially bringing back the Experimental Branches for players to pop in and try out the changes we make. More to follow in the future.[/p][p][/p][p]As always, we thank you for your continued support and trust. Have a safe weekend!
[/p][p]Regards[/p][p]HZ Team[/p][p]

Message From The Team

[p]

Dear Survivors
[/p][p]We want to speak openly with you about the 1.0 launch.
[/p][p]In many ways, the release of HumanitZ 1.0 has been a success. We’ve seen record player numbers, huge support from the community, and an incredible amount of people jumping into the apocalypse with us. For that, we are truly grateful.
[/p][p]However, we also know that in other ways, the launch has not met the standards we set for ourselves. While many players are having a great time, there are also areas of performance, stability, and general quality that we as a studio are not fully happy with. We hold ourselves to a high standard, and we know we can do better.
[/p][p]As part of the final push toward 1.0, we made some major technical changes very late in development, including moving to a new networking SDK. These changes were important for the long-term future of HumanitZ, but they also came with challenges and serious time pressure right near the finish line. In hindsight, this created a difficult schedule and meant some areas did not get the level of polish we would have liked before launch, but what matters is what we do next.
[/p][p]Because we are a first-time studio and HumanitZ is the first game we’ve ever made, the perspective of what “1.0” should be can differ compared to a larger, more experienced team. That is not us making excuses; we know some areas should be better. But when we take a step back and look at what we’ve achieved with the team and resources we have, we’re proud of how far we’ve come, and we know it’s only going to get better from here.
[/p][p]As a studio, we are fully committed to turning this around and getting HumanitZ to the level it deserves to be. Starting now, we will be focusing heavily on improving the overall experience across the board.
[/p][p]Our next patch is already in progress and will be primarily focused on the most urgent stability and performance issues players have been reporting since 1.0.[/p][p]Our plan going forward is:[/p]
  • [p]We will aim to release regular bi-weekly updates focused on performance, stability, bug fixing, and overall quality improvements.[/p]
  • [p]Alongside this, we remain committed to our larger content updates, bringing new features, improvements, and additions to the world of HumanitZ.
    [/p]
[p]HumanitZ 1.0 is not the end of the journey. In many ways, it is just the beginning of the next phase. We are a small team that cares deeply about this game and the community around it, and we are fully committed to making it the best experience it can be.
[/p][p]Thank you for your continued support, patience, and feedback. We will keep listening, keep improving, and keep pushing forward.[/p][p]
[/p][p]All the best,[/p][p]HZ Team[/p][p]
