CHAPTER #4 - READY FOR THE ADVENTURE -

Our adventurer checked their inventory one last time before setting off for the Harsh Lands. There were many things in their backpack that he/she didn't need, or even some of them were repeated. Who wants two shields?!

I have been working on the latest adventure 'The Cobra's Ark' and I can say that the first part of it has already been developed. We will have to wait a bit longer to enjoy it (soon).
I've also started to sketch the next playable character, and it's practically only left to be implemented in one of the next updates (probably after the new adventure).

The main reason for this update is because of the feedback received from a player: Kukmakarn.
Some things in the inventory were not clear, and the player was prevented for example from removing equipped weapons, armour or spells, as well as possible copies that the player could have in the inventory. So I decided that the inventory should be improved, and give more freedom to the player to carry or not carry what he/she wants in it, including equipped items.

I have also taken the opportunity to include small improvements in the game.

Changelog v0.5.2:
ADDED
- Added the description of the next adventure to be developed.
- Two new options in the castle, in the story 'Song of Kings & Wars' that add a little more literature and mystery to the story.
- Added the possibility in the encounter with the Tree Man in the story 'The Labyrinth', to return to the centre of the labyrinth again if you don't want to interact with the Tree Man.
- Added small animation when attacking the Kraken in the story 'Song of Kings & Wars'. Killing the kraken can now generate a story event in 'The Cobra's Ark'.
- New phrase for the prophet of doom, in 'The Barbarian' story.
- The thief from the story 'The Barbarian', Sonja, can also be found in the story 'The Cobra's Ark'.
- New sentence for the thief 'Sonja' found in the story 'The Barbarian'.
- New sound when talking to locals.
- New sound when executing the WIND spell in an event.

IMPROVEMENTS
- New texts (and icons) warn the players in the inventory if they are removing or selling items.
- The player will now be able to remove or sell any item including those equipped. (Credit: Kukmakarn).
- New button in Options that allows the player to start a new game without having to quit the game.

CHANGES
- Changed the images of the castles.
- Changed the image of the item 'Dark Fungus'.
- Changed the image of the item 'Net'.

BUGS
- Fixed a bug that was not displaying the Goblin Dagger image correctly.
- Some small fixes.

CHAPTER 3: - QUARRELSOME AND CANTRIPS -

The truth is that I wanted to leave this update a little bit further along with the inclusion of a new story, but I couldn't resist to show you new things I'm creating.

Some players asked me to make the initial spells more explanatory, so I got to work. I didn't want an update to the game to include just that, so I've added a few more stuff.

Changelog EA0.5.1:
ADDED
- One of the endings of 'Song of King & Wars' didn't convince me because it could end with a simple Charisma roll, so, in case a player negotiates peace and succeeds, he must now return alive with the missive. A bonus event and a bonus fight have been added.
- If your character is evil, it can generate an option to provoke a fight inside taverns and inns (50%).
- The Sorcerer now generates options to use Cantrips to distract big, stupid humanoids like Ogres or Cyclops.
- Added a small sentence on the first page of the Barbarian story.

IMPROVEMENTS
- Now it is explained what the spells do during the choice of character.
- A new message warns the player in the combat panel when casting a non-combat spell.
- Minor improvements, such as more information on some rolls.

BUGS
- Fixed an issue where a rootman could be shown as an ally after combat ended on some screens.
- Fixed a bug that prevented stealing the last breath with the necromancer from the dying knight in the 'Song of Kings & Wars' story.
- Fixed a small code that could repeat the same event twice in the adventure 'Song of Kings & Wars'.

CHAPTER 2 - THE BEGINNING OF A STORY -

'The heroes left some coins on the wooden table, as payment for the services rendered at the inn. They stepped outside and saw with awe, the beauty and majesty of the Three Kingdoms, and how the Impassable Mountains loomed on the horizon, protecting these lands from unimaginable horrors'.

Heroes of Book & Paper will be released on 18 May 2022, and a new adventure begins. The version shown is the first fully playable Early Access version of the game, and new quests, playable characters, locations and items will gradually be added to it.

The player should remember that all stories are REPLAYABLE, and will change locations, events, combat, and sometimes even the storyline itself, each time the game is played.

Up to 6 characters are included, each with their own characteristics and abilities, often unique, which can also vary the adventure.

I am currently working on the fifth adventure 'The Cobra's Ark' and a new playable character. I hope to be able to upload all this new content as soon as possible.

I would like to thank everyone who supports this game by purchasing it from the start. Thank you, thank you very much.

Thanks for reading, and see you in the pages!

CHAPTER 1 - A NEW ADVENTURE -

'And then our heroes, their chests heaving with pride at the completion of that deed, gazed out over the horizon of the three kingdoms, and wondered what their next adventure would be'.

I am pleased to announce that we finally have a definite month for the launch of the game: MAY.
If everything goes according to plan, next month, the first Early Access of HEROES OF BOOK & PAPER will be launched.

The journey to get here has taken longer than expected, and every day I'm coming up with new ideas for more content and improvements.

I'm about to finish the fourth story of the first release: -Song of Kings and Wars-, and it's a story with a lot of content, so I've had to extend the project for a few more weeks.

I also have in mind a couple of characters that the player will be able to play in the very distant future.

Remember that I'm open to any suggestions. ;)

Thanks for reading. See you soon!

DEV'S DIARY #4 - Improved graphics

The graphical aspect of the game has been revamped to make it look better. Here's what it looked like before and what it looks like now.

I'm working on the last story before the launch of the game's first Early Access, and soon you will receive the final date for the game's release.
