Greetings earthlings,
I hope you are doing well!

I was battling some nasty bug regarding the AI "taking" cover system. It took me weeks and several relationships to fight this problem, sadly, to no avail. However, I decided to revamp the entire AI cover system and started back at square one.

Here is the result:
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

The dark blue squares represent safe tiles for allied forces. The red squares represent safe tiles for enemy forces. When the AI senses danger and/or when the AI senses that he is going to lose the battle, he will try and find the nearest safe tile to take cover.

All in all, this means the Play-test build release date is pushed back a bit. When I'm confident enough about that release date, I'm sure you are the first to know. As for now, my mind is set to the end of August.

Thanks a lot for this!

Just a quick look and feel doing missions against the Naala. Some sounds/sprites are just placeholders. Things are subject to change.

Community Dash 1#

Hi all!
I hope you are doing well!

Alongside the Dev Diary Feed, I'd like to introduce the Community Dash Feed. I'll use this feed primarily to stay in contact with the community. Having feedback using polls and comments, and generally input from the community. So, without further ado...

Welcome to Community Dash 1# !
First things first. I've made a Discord server, a Twitter and Instagram account. This way we can stay close in contact. I will regularly check those platforms and, where I can, answer questions. If you wish to follow the progress and the development journey for this game, please use the following links:

Alright, with that out of the way, it's time for the first Poll!
I'm currently brainstorming how to bring my game to this world. What would be the best approach for releasing this game? I'm currently battling over 3 methods.

Free demo

A basic look and feel for the game. Will use this as a demo build and as a beta testing build.

Paid Early Access

A good solid paid base build. Regular updates until full release. Involved community. (like Minecraft)

Full release only

Release nothing but the full experience.

So, what do you guys prefer, please follow the link below:

Hi all!

I hope you are doing well!

I have some good news! I'm currently overhauling the Enemy AI. This way, the enemy reacts a lot more natural and individualistic.

I made a sheet that shows you how it works. The higher parts of the pyramid overrules the lower parts. Each layer in the pyramid has its own selection of states. The combination of states from the top 3 layers of the pyramid determine the lowest layer of the pyramid, which results in appropriate behavior. Basically, each enemy has its own personality.

I hope it makes sense, if not, just ask away. I would love to answer your questions!

In other news, still busy with that playable demo. I can't really give a demo release date yet. When I'm confident enough when to release it, I will release a brand new, up-to-date trailer alongside with it.

Stay healthy!

Cheers!

Bryan.
