Regular Friday Night Update - Nov 25, 2024

Good evening, survivors. This is the FFN Team.

We've just released a regular update build for your Friday nights. Here are the details:

1. HP regeneration time at the bonfire has been reduced from 12 seconds to 7 seconds.

2. Bonfire buff wait time has been reduced from 24 seconds to 7 seconds.

3. Japanese Localization: In the Japanese version, the position (position.x) of the tutorial text displayed on the window in the opening scene has been slightly adjusted.

4. In the Game Over scene, the ESC icon will appear when you die three times.

5. If you die more than once, the following tooltips will now appear instead of "Rose has been killed" in the Game Over scene:

πŸ“– Are you scared of the axe flashing in front of your eyes? Don't panic, don't be afraid, and quickly dash toward the killer. You might find him confused, brandishing his weapon in the air.

πŸ“– The killer loves playing hide-and-seek. You never know when or where he'll disappear or pop up, so always keep an eye out.

πŸ“– Some placesβ€”don't know whyβ€”but the killer never goes near.

πŸ“– If you're determined to fight the killer, it's wise to lure him into a wide open space.

πŸ“– A shotgun is always a great negotiator.

πŸ“– Step 1: Dash to dodge. Step 2: Smash or shoot!

πŸ“– The killer might be wearing a bulletproof vest... or maybe even a full bulletproof suit.

πŸ“– If the killer's deadly swing is about to kill you, try dodging it with a dash.

πŸ“– Dashing takes a lot of concentration and energy, so it's hard to use continuously.

πŸ“– Some say it's mostly effective to insult a killer's mother when you encounter them.

πŸ“– Staying in front of the bonfire for a while could keep your whole body warm for a long time. Let's count to seven while roasting a marshmallow. One, two...

πŸ“– Reading The Fearsome British Man's Kind Tutorial: The Easiest Way to Hunt Crocodiles for Dinner might help if you ever get bitten by a crocodile or gator. You can grab a copy now from Ember.

πŸ“– In this frosty, deep forest, unless you find a cozy spot, the freezing airβ€”like deathβ€”will slowly drain your health. Your body will slow down and eventually freeze, so always make sure to keep warm.

πŸ“– Food and drinks can help keep your body warm. However, drinking alcohol in the winter can lead to hypothermia or even a heart attack. Safe holidays!

Noirvember Q&A (Developer Responses)

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Hello, this is AJ, the designer and developer behind FFN EVE.

Did you have a fun Halloween? I hope you enjoyed it.

Thank you very much for your continued interest in the game. In this Q&A session, I'll answer questions sent by email and others gathered from external platforms and the Steam Community.

Rose's eye color seems too desaturated, which gives off a scary vibe. Was this intentional?

No, that was my mistake. Originally, a higher-saturation version existed, but I ended up using a desaturated one. At the time, it was the end of the year, and I may have been drinking a lot during the holiday celebrations, like Rose was. If I had noticed right after release, I would have corrected it quickly. But now, adjusting her eye color would take a lot of time, given how many animations feature Rose. Instead, we'll reflect this aspect in Rose's backstory. (Apologies to her.)

When will the finale update be released?

We're aiming for three to five years at the latest and two years at the earliest. The complete storyline has already been written. (We're prioritizing steady updates to FFN: EVE while also preparing the next project and a re-release of Flaming Friday Night.)

When will Pandu become a playable character?

Soon. Pandu will be playable by the end of the year or around New Year's. However, some combat experiences, such as crocodile hunting and the Mr. Brandon Raid, will be available later. We are planning unique experiences for Pandu, distinct from Rose's journey. Additionally, Rose and Pandu will have many conversations about each other.

Is this game entirely roguelike?

Not exactly, though it includes some roguelike elements. Certain objects respawn at random locations, and you can play in permadeath mode if you prefer. There aren't any other roguelike elements, other than these. (TMI: I thought about having enemies drop weapons with random reinforcement levels, but I ended up discarding the idea. Other important updates are still in the works and awaiting release.) We're designing FFN: EVE with a focus on action, character development, and story progression, rather than aiming for a roguelike experience.

Are the state and city names meant to represent actual locations, or are they fictional?

They represent real states and cities. You can consider the FFN universe to be a parallel world.

Seasprinkle = Seattle
Lumainaho = Idaho
NEC = NYC
Las Melodias = Las Vegas
Flostarida = Florida

Are there plans to support other languages?

Of course, we'd like to support other languages. However, adding even one more language requires a lot of effort and time (thanks to Yume for translating Japanese). It seems difficult to support other languages until the finale update is completed.

What do you usually smoke? (Frequently Asked Question)

Nothing. Sometimes, I enjoy a can of Asahi draft beer. When the weather is nice, I like to go running. Every evening, I take a warm shower, and afterward, I enjoy warm water and chocolate.

Thank you for your continued interest and support. We'll be right back.

Best regards,
FFN Team

Moonlight Serenade: First Raid Boss Patch Notes

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Good evening, survivors. Marvin here.

The major update featuring our first raid boss has been released. I'd like to provide a more detailed account of the changes and additions included in this update.

New Area: Lake Daphne
Survivors can now access the lakeside through dark woods crowded with the ghosts.

The First Raid Boss: Mr. Brandon
Survivors can now challenge the giant teddy bear man. To encounter him, you'll need to talk with Jane, John, Sheriff Jackson, Sunny, Ezraella, and Bianca after saving Sunny. Then, find Franklin near the abandoned Millie Bessie building in the ghost woods.

Mr. Brandon Sketch
Created by our designer AJ, drawn on July 16, 2024.

Mr. Brandon Animations
Created by our designer AJ, animated on September 20, 2024.

Lake Daphne Rough Design
Created by our designer AJ on October 8, 2024.

Mr. Brandon and Rose Artwork
Created by an AI at the request of AJ, who ordered it for fun while nearly burned out from work.

Mr. Brandon uses four types of combat skills:
1. Massive Extermination

2. Big and Big Log

3. Lumberjack

4. Teddy Stunner

Once you defeat Mr. Brandon, you can challenge him again with two difficulties: Easy and Lunatic.

Items Dropped by Mr. Brandon: Gold Powder, Dollars, .30 Caliber, Blue Moonstone, Guillotine, Artemis, and Franklin's Aquamarine Ring.

New Merchant: Bob Bob
You can meet Bob Bob once you defeat Mr. Brandon. You'll need Blue Moonstones to trade with him.

Items Sold by Bob Bob: Gold Powder, .30 Caliber, Guillotine, and Artemis.

New Weapons: Guillotine, Deputy Sheriff Longinus' Automatic Rifle
Both legendary weapons will be your best friends while exploring the Whispering Sunrise Forest.

New Ammo: .30 Caliber
Required for Deputy Sheriff Longinus' Automatic Rifle.

New Perk: Blessing of Dullahan
Guillotine's special ability.

New Accessory: Artemis
This legendary ring will make you a gunslinger.

New Currency: Blue Moonstone
Blue Moonstones are needed to trade with Bob Bob. Mr. Brandon drops one Blue Moonstone in Easy Raids and two Blue Moonstones in Lunatic Raids.

New Stat: Armor Penetration
Effective against heavily armored enemies, including creatures with tough hides, like crocodiles.

New Debuff: Freeze Response
When you encounter enemies with an overwhelming level gap (+10 levels higher), your Speed, Concentration, and Evade Chance will be reduced in proportion to your Sanity.

Ways to Increase Sanity

1. Leveling up
2. Enjoying special dishes: Crocodile Omurice, Crocodile Steak, Classic Cheese Pizza
3. Defeating specific bosses: Santa Mask Suit, Mr. Brandon

πŸ’™ You can now gain 0.04 Sanity whenever you defeat Santa Mask Suit in the Nightmare.

πŸ’™ You can gain 0.08 Sanity whenever you defeat Mr. Brandon in the Easy Raid. (Not applicable in the story battle.)

πŸ’™ You can gain 0.12 Sanity whenever you defeat Mr. Brandon in the Lunatic Raid.

New Steam Achievements: Here's Teddy!, Moonlight Sonata

Expanded Survivors' Maximum Level to 10
A death penalty has been added: at level 10 or higher, you lose 10% of the XP needed to level up when you die. There is still no level-down system, so you don't need to worry about losing levels.

In-depth User Experience Enhancements
1. Ammo count on the UI now displays as 999+ when survivors have more than 999 rounds.

2. Reload time for shotguns now varies based on the amount of ammo already loaded.

3. Upon death, survivors now respawn at the bonfire in Huckletwain instead of returning to the Start Menu. (This change was implemented in the last update but was not previously mentioned.)

4. Survivors can now adjust camera follow speed with the F5 key.

5. Whoosh sounds for melee weapons have been restored.

6. Improved hit sounds for each character when they are attacked by each weapon type.

7. Frame Optimization: Unnecessary graphic resources used in combat actions have been reduced by half, enhancing battle performance.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Fixes
1. Fixed an issue where the Damage Pop-Up had constantly floated upward to the moon.

2. Updated terminology throughout the dialogues: the term "Elk" has been replaced with "Caribou."

Additions to Expect in the Next Update
1. New Merchant: Wranglers (Lumainaho Bison Transport Service)

2. UI/UX Enhancements

We always appreciate your support. Enjoy your spooktacular Halloween.
