Demo Purpose/Rules and what to expect

Welcome fellow Knights!

Demo starts 19:00 Berlin/Warsaw time, 10AM pacific time

Judging from what you write, you are very hyped for the game, which makes us very happy. But please keep in mind, this is a product in production.

The Demo is Version 0.2 - we want to reach 0.35 before launching the Early Access.
Our main goal is to make sure there are no game-spoiling bugs - instead of swarming you with bugged content.

The demo is 10% of the games world, 5% of the orginal population, 15% of the quests that will be on premiere of the EA. 100% of sandbox buildings, so if you miss something tell us. 20% of the premade buildings.

This demo has two goals:

1. To show you how the game works, and how it is to work with us - during an EA process. We will update the demo at least once a week, with your feedback.

2. It is a big help for us, so we can catch out, all the stuff we have missed or have not foreseen that it makes you mad. And to fix it, before the EA launch.

Demo Rules

Short version
1. Be nice
2. Tell us about everything nicely (not sweet, just cultural)
3. You can record and stream it
4. Optimization for computers with a card under 6gb is very bad, in general we are not happy with performance for now
5. If you hit an invisible wall, don't worry, it is just the end of the demo world.

1. Be nice. If you are a "get cancer, i kill your mother" kid. You are not welcome here. We are here, we want to fix everything you don't like. But we will not tolerate stupidity or insulting us or anyone else.

2. In a cultural manner, you can speak about all you like or dislike in the demo. We will not be angry, we will not be sad, we will not jump on you. We launch it, so we can make it perfect together.

3. You can record the demo, stream it, have your ads launched, in the demo there is only original music made for us.

5. We had no way to part the world naturally. Therefor there are alpha walls. They are there only to save you time. If you go over them, you will find just nothing, as we have deleted the rest of the world.

FAQ - Most common questions
What fighting system do you use?
We are aiming for a system like in Chivalry2, as we are big fans of this game. So thrust, upper, left, right hit, (so much you will be able to test in the demo) strong hit, block, dodge, weapon throwing. (This should be ready for the EA on 15 July) Pretty fun.
How can I join the Early access? Where can I find the demo?
Both will be available here on Steam -

Demo 1-2 June, Early Access 15 July.
Can I play it Solo?
Yes, this is a solo game with the option to invite your friends to take the adventure together. There will be some level adjustment, so you don't get bored to death when playing with 4-7 people.
Is this an Open World? How big it is ?
Yes it is an Open world, pretty big but not very big. It takes 10 minutes to walk across the map when you don't stop and nothing bothers you – which is rarely the case.
Are you a MMO?
No, we are not an MMO, and we do not plan to be. We want to focus on games we think we understand so single-player, co-op, survivals and RPGs.
Co-Op? What does it mean?
It means you can play it with up to 8 friends (including you) Build something together, rob something together, but the game is very good fun playing solo too. At least for us. You will have the occasion to judge soon - Store.steampowered.com make sure to wishlist, so you don't miss the demo.
What genre are you?
We are single player sandbox, survival with elements of RPG. That you can play together with your friends (That is the co-op part) So building camps later castles and raiding together is available.

We are a Sandbox - survival with elements of RPG, not the other way around. That is important, so you can set your expectations right.
How about PVP?
Next year there will be a dedicated scenario for that. Where you can fight 4vs4 Steam friends vs Steam friends. For now, it is your decision. You can – join a co-op session together and go your separate ways – than have a fight against each other. But the fun is up to your creativity.
Will there be 3rd person too?
In the EA, probably yes. But not in the demo
What other games are you sort of similar too?
Many people say on Facebook we are similar to Kingdom Come Deliverance.

But we are Raubritter, we are trying to make our own path, but if you want a description what to expect we would say, we are more a cross between Valheim, the forest and medieval dynasty.
Will there be a console version?
After the Early Access we will work on that so around end of 2023 if all goes well.
Where are you guys from?
We are all from Poland, except our music guy, who is a Greek (https://www.youtube.com/c/steliodas?app=desktop).
What languages does it support for now?
English, Polish and German
What engine are you using?
We are working on Unreal Engine.
Will Terraforming be in this game?
No, unless the community will ask us for it. But it would be a giant change – so it would probably come later as a DLC.
CAN I Play the game without robbing?
Yes, you can, but it is much harder to „end” the game.
Do we have to do everything alone or there will be salves/companions?:
There will be slaves (gathered from raiding villages) and companions NPC`s added later in the Early Access, We hope around May 2023, for now there is a simple story line teaching our baron to do all this simple stuff on his own.

So be sure to invite your friends, so they can do the hard work for you 😉
What do we do with our loot? Are there shabby dealers we can sell the goods to, or do we process them all ourselves?
There is a shabby dealer on the map. But after unlocking with a quest, you can build a black market station in your camp where you can sell stolen goods. Before that, you have either to store them in your camp or run to this guy with your loot.
Also, how concise will the camp building be? Is it just a cooking place with tents and palisades, or a real fortified position with houses?
As we are planning to add a little PVP scenarios (so your band vs your friend's band) the base works like in Rust. So you place a, in our case, banner to claim the surrounding land. You can build the banner where ever you choose - except the main road which exists for the purpose of robberies, NPC villages or special places. The rest of the world is for you.
How did you come up with the idea to make your main hero a Raubritter?
There are games to make you feel like a hero saving the world, we want to create a game that lets you blow off some steam, be someone you are not in your real life, someone bad, who does put a lot of value to life. So what better character to achieve it than a Robber knight with hurt ambitions? Of course, outside of games, we condemn any sort of violence or getting rich by harming others.
How realistic will be this game?
Armors and swords – We were trying to keep it as historical accurate as possible, but we made exceptions to give the game a little more variety.

So you can find a helmet called the dog's face which is a XIV century helmet, but you can find also a helmet called armet which appeared on the battlefield at least 100 years later.

But no black ebony, master giant sword etc.

Food in game – Food and „potion brewing” is pretty realistic. You can think – WTF, how potion brewing can be realistic. So we based the system on real plants and their real properties. Of course, for game purposes, we made them much stronger, so you don't have to drink them for 3 months to get better. But if you know real life herbs you will fast figure out what to use to get better, if not, the game will try to tell you that in stories or books.

According to food, we made sure there will be no food in game that is not medieval – like things we all good know, but they were not here. For example potatoes. Our alcohol is made of honey etc. The food rots overtime. But you can prepare rations (dry meat) that will not decay.
Will there be destruction of buildings?
You can destroy your friends buildings or your buildings can be destroyed by NPCs, but we are still figuring a way to let the player destroy everything on the map. We think we will let you do this even if it means destroying the main story. It is your world, so you should be able to do with it what ever you want and set your own goal, not pursue something the game told you to do. But it is a work in progress.

A little bit information about Raubritter

Historical background, story and how realistic the game is:

We start in a valley on a virtual Polish-German border. So you will feel like on a medieval border, but don't try to establish where it really is, because it does not exist. We took this path – so nothing could block our ideas and to make it logically into an open world, but closed by the borders of the valley environment.

The game takes place in the spring/summer, year 1303. It is a very complicated time for our region. We have a Czech King on the throne of Poland, and he is not liked neither by the Pope, nor by the Polish prince Vladislav the short or the German Holy Emperor Albrecht I Habsburg. And you are placed in the middle of it.

Polish prince - Vladislav the short

Our hero is a noble man. On purpose, we do not state if he is Polish, German, English, Czech etc. So you can choose it for yourself.

He decided not to banish his younger brother, and for that he repaid him with a stab in the back. Only a loyal servant rescues us and evacuates us to the earlier mentioned Polish – German border. So except surviving, the main quest is to reclaim your homeland, for which we have a small story line prepared. How you can achieve the goal you will learn in the game. But there are at least 4 ways to „finish” the game.

So how realistic is the game.

Food in game

Food and „potion brewing” is pretty realistic. You can think – WTF how potion brewing can be realistic.

The survival aspect of the game

There are so many games of this survival type, almost all of them pretty decent. But we wanted to approach the survival aspect from a different angle.

As we are in medieval Europe, and we are knights. Surviving alone – a place to sleep, getting food and water are not really a problem. Clean Rivers are everywhere, there are plenty of forests and animals. So this part should be pretty easy for you – especially if you played this type of games before.

We decided to center the survival part on the combat itself. So bears and packs of wolves are deadly opponents. The forest is full of other robber knights that want your stuff and life.

You have to care for your equipment like oil it, sharpen the sword, clear it from rust etc. (The graphic of rust on the weapons will come later for now it is just a % value in the inventory)

Steel and iron sword

Every combat you decide to take part in may lead to your death. Not only because the enemy can kill you, but not treated wounds may lead to an infection, bleeding. You can get poisoned or sick.

So it is important to be always prepared and learn to fight. Especially blocking.

The fighting system

In the final version, it is meant to be something like chivalry 2. For now, it is pretty close. So thrust, upper hit, left right. We should be able to finish the kick before Steam festival on 13 June.

But a lot of work left on the accuracy of the blade move and the block. But still I think it is pretty fun already, I hope you will share my opinion on it.

There are of course crossbows, bows, and spears. Just for now it is a slow AK-47 riffle there is no gravitation for the arrows, but this will be fixed soon.

We also plan to add cutting of heads, hands, etc. But this to be fun we have to first fix the accuracy on the blade and that might take some time.

You can upgrade your weapons from iron to steel, you can sharpen them, or you can poison them.

The rest of things regarding the fighting system we left for you – our EA fans, to figure out. But we will not go into Witcher style, or any fantasy styles, the only ideas we will accept must be strictly medieval. So, for example, make blunt weapons better against full armors than swords – No problem, done.

Make a knight in full armor roll two Times and then a powerful hit to the ground making the earth shake. - Sorry, No way.

Just so you know. What you can expect from the Ea. We are very open for ideas. But we also want to keep it as medieval as possible, but without spoiling the fun.

So the main rule FUN comes first, but let's try to make it as realistic as possible.

And here you can see a little from the game word and buildings
