Week 13 - The Beta Branch is available

Hello,

90% of you said take your time. Thank you for that. This period will be a little bit frustrating for both, us and for you, but after. Everything should go smooth.

With the previous versions, the dates did not work. We also don't want to put pressure on us - because we want to deliver a very good, finished, balanced and overall checked update. So the bug hunting will be about very abstract things like " I have put 20 stones in the chest and when I add a heal potion - I get 1000 money plus when I click on the icon" and not stuff like - my tree flew 100 meters, the icons are bad etc.,etc.

The next update when it comes out will contain Co-op. It is an integral part of the game since day 0. It was taken down because of bad bugs and no passwords for lobbies, which allowed trolls to destroy your games.
Update period
I will change the information posting period from every week to bi-weekly. For that, I will add for most of the updates a video from what we are working on. Although the next month is mainly about bug fixing, so nothing looking great on videos but feeling good in the game.
Price rising
A long time ago - we presented you with our pricing strategy.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/1887020/discussions/0/3410928883779309400/

With the next update, the project finishes his first phase. So the price will raise. We are very grateful to those of you who decided to support us so early in our process.

We hope you are happy about the direction of the development of our game, and with our I mean us together Sartorian team + community. Because you worked so hard as we to give us ideas, find bugs, tell about what is frustrating you and what makes you happy. And that was really helpful and appreciated.

Your energy is probably the biggest reason behind our decision to continue with this projects despite some serious problems on the way. It is an honor to make this game for such a wonderful and positive group of players. Thanks.
Beta Branch - How to access it
But for the 10% of you, who are willing to put even more heart in the development than just your patience(which is a great and sufficient gift) We have prepared a Beta-Branch. How to Access it?

NOTE: NEW stuff is mostly not translated. The update is in English now.

Look for Raubritter in your Steam library
Right click
Properties
Beta - and pick the Beta

Steam will download the new version for you. I am not sure if you will be able to access your save from the main version after this process. But to get back to the old version - you just have to select nothing in the beta tab.
What kind of feedback are we looking for
We do not need, for now, information about bugs or missing stuff. That is what we need this month for. We have a big list. So no need to waste your time on it.

The old quests are down for maintenance - I am rewriting them completely. So NPCs are only there to trade with or kill them.
Feedback that would help
- Performance info
The numbers from measuring tools tell me everything should be fine. And you should get a smooth 60 fps - on full HD. High settings on a GTX 1050 and newer versions. But we had no option to test is personally.

For those of you with a RTX 3060 the 60 fps is reachable also in 4k on Epic.

But there might be tense places - like the village or some castle ruins, that might cause fps drops. It would be a great help if you would help us identify them.

- Balancing info

How do you feel about availability of animals and resources
How do you feel about the number of caravans
What do you think about prices

- Is the building system any better? - How much can you build before the fps starts to drop hard.
- Graphical bugs The rivers sometimes appear to fly or weirdly flow out from under the ground, but it is a programming issue - we will fix. Light is another issue. Help me find map parts that I missed, flying rocks, and give me general feedback about the amount of details that are on the map.

Remember that this is a building game - so I have a limited space that I can work with - because you can build almost everywhere. We can later cast a vote if you prefer a more detailed map but being able to build only in certain places - or if you prefer that level of details but with no restrictions to where to build.

- When you are lost in the game. What needs to be explained better.
Note: We are moving into the direction - letting the player figure out more on his own(we are big enemies of giving the player everything on a plate or making him a salve of his GPS). So please report only serious stuff like I don't know how to manage my gathering point. Not how do I use the campfire.

Enjoy, and I will come back to you in 2 weeks for a detailed update about the progress.

Update on friday or in a Month?

Hello,

We have eliminated all (at least we think so), errors, making the game end with a fatal error. So caravans are pretty smoothly running across the land.

But to achieve something I would gladly call a "Sartorian" game, we need +/- a month. So my questions to you is.

Should we release the update on Friday and continue the work with the game "online"

or

Should we finish the game to a level we would be ok/proud to call our own and then update it?

Discord already tells us that we should work and wait with the update. What is your opinion, Steam folk?
Please leave a comment with your thoughts.

P.S Co-op is not included in the Friday update. He is next in line, but with the month of wait option, he will be the part of the next update.

Week 12 - Thank you

It was very touching to receive that amount of support and warm messages. We are ready to - even move mountains for you :), thank you.
What we work on
-We hunt bugs
-Co-op
-We upgrade the code in many places - should result in better performance
and that the game can support the bigger amount of NPCs
-We add some details
-Re-work and upgrade some minor stuff
-Further work on the balance of the game economy/fighting
-And I am preparing new quests - with finishes quest lines. But as promised in the road map - leaving the main story for the end of the EA.
Thank you for your advice
We will take your advice to heart, because we see that most of you care about one thing, and that is

- That we deliver you a great medieval simulator - no matter how long it takes.

Of course some of you are very eager to play the new version, but you always tell us "good things take time". So we are working very hard to achieve: New developer = new quality.
A perfect medieval simulator-RPG
Well, I like to read and learn a lot. And some time ago I watched so called Master-Classes from Masters of Art - like

- Dan Brown
- Ron Howard
- James Cameron
- Hans Zimmer
- Neil Gaiman
- Werner Herzog

All of these Masters have they different way of working, different way of putting things together or looking at the world and art, but what they all have in common is -
Read a lot and prepare well for the world you want to create
Fortunately for us all. I am passionate about the medieval ages since I can talk. So, for a very long time. But I would lie, telling you that my knowledge is enough to make for you a perfect medieval simulator. So I got some help.

After the promised, for so long, update. I will start to work with them to deliver you a great medieval experience.

That is all for today. Thank you again for your support and your patience.

Your humble scribe-developer
Sartorian

P.S Skinny & D4ddelzw3rg are organizing a little screen contest on our discord- https://discord.gg/Vy3amSjDfT. For the best 2 screens there is a Raubritter - code to win, to give to your friends. Just post your screen under #screenshots on our discord and wait for the results :)

Week 11 - sometimes you have to admit defeat

Due to a difference of opinion about the road map and it scale, we have parted ways with the developer – Medieval Bytes. Peacefully and by agreement of both sides. So we – Sartorian will be the developer from now on. So we ask you for even more patience than before - because we are only 2 people, and we need some time to get acquainted with the project. We hoped it will not happen, but we were ready for this, so be assured your medieval game is safe with us.

We have promised you something and that is not abandoning the project, and no matter how hard things will be we intend to keep that promise.

I know, probably 90% of you, are now like – so this Sartorian guy was not the developer so far?

Well, we are not in our twenties anymore, so the 18 hours a day/7 days a week work process really kicked our asses hard.

So despite our best affords to get it to you in the orginal date - we need 2 more weeks to get acquainted with the project.

I know how it looks like. But we are fighting here for you. And it is a bad situation for us too. As we have to postpone our game to finish this project. We fell bad enough about this situation, so please if you are really angry with us - just keep for yourself this time. Thank you for your understanding.

All I can say for now is sorry.

Week 10 - Close but not yet there

So I prepared a little movie with the new map. Showing you how the game looks now. We misjudged the time frame but well - it is basically a new game - what you will get - I hope next week.

I am sorry, but the things games can surprise you with. That is a story for a whole night tale.

Here the movie and screenshots and under it what we have still to do - or improve after the changes.

Diffrent types of materials for you to choose

New decorational items ( a lot more than you can see here)

1. Translation
2. Icons for new items
3. Deploy Merchants
4. Write new Tutorials (almost everything is different and more complex)
5. Add very simple AI life to the capture points and the city
6. Balance the guards and caravans to be more fun.
7. Performance tests
8. I have gone over my work too - and there are still a few points on the map I am not happy with. So I will use the additional week to improve it, too.
9. There is a small chance it will come together with the co-op
10. The new building system gives you tons of new options now, but to tell the truth if I would be new to the game and don't know the rules I would just quit. We have to make it easier and more pleasant to use also for new players.
11. Add the bronze items to crafting stations

It is mainly my bad that we have so many delays. I prepared to many changes at once and on top of that made the map much bigger and dense than it was. But to my defence - I just want to make you happy and proud that you are supporting us :)
