Week 7 - Survey outcome

Welcome,

I think we will be able to ship the huge update next week. 70% sure.
If we would not manage to add everything we planned to, shall we still ship the update next week anyway, or you prefer to wait? Let me know in the comments.
Survey outcomes

How will we work with the outcomes?
If an answer is above 70% or above in favor of one answer, we just do it.
If You are parted like 60-40 or even closer, we will try to make a mix or push it into starting settings, so you can choose.

I will add, the full roadmap based on these answers, your and our ideas a week after the next update.
1. Most of you are builders, 71 %
That means we will organize the roadmap in a way to first provide you all possibilities regarding building your castle, village, your medieval business etc. And then move to improving fight, adding fighting missions etc.
2. For 90% of you, the story is important
But 74% of you want, that we add it when we finish everything. So that is how we will do it. Makes it possible for us to think about cool ways to implement the game systems into the story.
3. 75% For a good mix of RPG and Survival
I don't think it was done before. To mix story, RPG and free building system before. But I might be of course mistaken. I know Conan mixed Survival, Free building and RPG but had no quest type story. Kingdom Come had a great story and RPG, but from the survival part it was mainly food and washing in a bale. That makes it even more exiting to honor your wish.
4. A Medieval world to live in
That is your pick. But 55% of you want to do it after they finish the story.
5. Crafting
72% of you want it to have more tiers, more items needed to accomplish things, and make it harder/deeper in general. That is what we will do.
6. Mini-games in crafting
There is a 8% win for the mini-games. So in this case we will make it skip able or add it only to the master levels in a certain job.
7. Character creator
No surprise. 70% win. But we were expecting that. We have it almost ready. Also, the banners, crest armors and shields for you to be able to add your own crest. Probably will appear next month. If the co-op does not flood us with tons of bugs.
8. Villages or crops
Here you are of course greedy, you want both option. Well, Customer is King. We will add the crops too. Because the villages are incoming next week.
9. Heir and Family
Very strong 90% win. So we will have to think about adding the kids to this brutal game. We will probably just make them immortal, as D4ddelzw3rg suggested on Discord.
10. Seasons
Another strong 83% win for yes. We have never done it before, so it may take us some time, but it will come. We will try to make it fluent not with a reload, but if we fail we just make a reload type season like in other survival games.
11. Leveling system - Points to give out or level up by doing.
The mix of option wins and the rest of the answers are equally divided between points and level up by doing. So I guess we can call it a perfect win for the mix.
12. Dedicated servers
only 18% of you wait for it. So we will make it probably after the full release.
13. Voice over
Voice over most of you left a 5, so we treat it as cool but not necessary. But the second place has the note 1 - not important at all. So we will do the voice-over only when we reach at least 60k copies sold in a certain country. So a very long way to go. So if Germany crosses 60K we make the German voice-over, if USA, Greatbritian or Australia we do the English one, If Poland then the Polish etc.

I hope our approach satisfies you. From the amount of ideas you have sent us, we are sure the Early Access will take at least 2-3 years. But many of you tell us you are here for the long run. So we are exited to work with you :)

Have a nice weekend

Week 6 - Decide the way, Raubritter will be developed

Welcome noble knights - Kings and Queens ;)

Today a very short notice, because I am giving 600% out of me to get you the new map on time (15 September) and keep the quality on a high level. Maybe it is not God of War, but the map has a lot more places worth visiting, much more little details, like for example road chapels, more life, more good places to build your camp on. Well you will be my judge and I will try my best to keep being cool when the feedback this time will be about my work. Haha.

We have received a lot of ideas from you. And with a lot, I mean a lot. But some of your suggestions are mutually exclusive, so we have to ask you directly.

We want to honor people who supported us early - so under this link, when you have Raubritter in your library you fill find a form, with questions how we should proceed with the development.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/1887020/discussions/1/3424446023717090484/

Please do not share the links you find under this one, because we would like to make the game exactly as players who supported us early want. That was the reason, starting so early. And thank you again for your continues support, we love you all for making our dream come true. We hope we repay with making yours, about a medieval live simulator, come true too.

I promised to show some new building pieces - so this week the palisade
Reminder
With the next update on 15 September, it might take a week longer because we want to add the Castle update that was planned for November too.

There will be a new map that means your character and buildings will be wiped. So make great photos of it and share on our discord https://discord.gg/Vy3amSjDfT

The next updates to come at least until February should be non-destructive. But sometimes remember you can get an update only by starting new. That is the bad part of Early Access, but well the goal is to make an ultimate medieval survival. I think it is worth the trouble.

Thank you again for your support and have a great weekend!
Your humble scribe - Sartorian

Week 5 - Progress updates and new ideas

Hello!

Before I start telling you about how work progresses, I would like to remind you that you can leave your ideas for the game on our discord:

https://discord.gg/Vy3amSjDfT

It is a very good idea to do it right away - because after the CO-op update in 3 weeks, we will close the ideas section and prepare a list of all the community Ideas we will add to the game.

There is already so many of them - the early access will last at least 2-3 years, not 1 year as we planned. We want to add as many of your ideas as possible. So we, all, will be able to enjoy the game for years.
Time for some informations
As some of you know, I joined the team as a level designer (When I finish the new map, we will add Sartorian to the producer section too). Except that I am also taking care of making the assets and texture nicer + I became the gameplay designer, so we are going to address your feedback -

"after I build and craft everything, there is not really much to do - especially raubritterish"
How we will make it

1. We will add trade post across the new map
The caravans will now go from trade post to trade post that are around 1-2 minute apart from each other. Not from 1 end of the map to the other. So you will see a lot more of them.

There will also be different levels of challenge for the trade routes, so you can be busy on different levels.

And the best part - you will be able to buy a trade post of your own or just capture it. You are a Raubritter after all - why should you pay for it.
2. Special points to generate resources for you and help you rise in the world.
For example, saw mills. And again, you can capture it or buy it.

Mines

Villages

Many of you requested crops and fields, but we will probably approach it differently than in other games. Instead of making a farmer out of you. We will give you the possibility to be a feudal lord and as such the peasants will do the work for you. After capturing the village you will be able to pick the crop they shall plant, add some upgrades, for example the three-field technology, to get more crops out of it.

We want to focus on the Feudal-knight aspect of our game. Take it a little bit away from the classic survival/building motive I am alone in the forest - let's do it, and shift it to

Let's become a feudal Lord and ensure the survival of all my subject (or just stuff my vault full, who cares about some dirty peasants)
3. Some fighting changes
The plan is to make fighting like in Chivalry. That is of course a very hard task and will take a lot of time. So for now, to make it more interesting for you, we will move into the direction of Skyrim:

- We will make the NPCs a lot faster (so no more running backwards with the bow)
- We will get rid of the ridiculous stunning animation and leave it for the stun action after heavy blows
- Except the starting area, the difficulty levels will be mixed to make the world more real. No skulls or levels on NPCs heads. The "color" code for informing you about the difficulty will be the armor of the NPC, and later in game you will learn that some of the Noble Families (crests on Armour) Are much better fighters than the others.

So we are again silently smiling to our 90s friends who are longing to get theirs hands on a game that does not tell them on every step what to do, and sometimes can make you mad - with a hard challenge.

Of course, if you are younger - fell free to break away from some brain killing mobile games and join us. If you are older, we are honored to have you here.

Ok, that is it for today. All the changes I talk about will be visible with the Co-op update. So as you see a lot of ideas and new stuff. When there will be a delay cause of them, I will tell you in the next update. For now, everything is going fine.

Have a nice weekend :)

Week 4 - Simple patch notes + quickpeek in what is to come

So - for game destroying bugs, that is it. Not counting the building system that we are making much bigger and smoother, there are only some minor bugs left. So GOOD news - time for content updates.

But the content updates, to make it fascinating for you, will take us more time - to check and prepare. So we are switching to a Biweekly update period. But starting with the CO-op update.

So the next update will happen between 2-15 September 2022, ofc. But I will continue to post a note every week on Friday with things that are coming.

Why you need so much time for the next?
What is coming with the CO-OP update
- CO-OP (with password protected lobbies)
- New Map
- Bigger (many new pieces for the modular part) and smoother building system
- New premade buildings
- A lot of decorative items
- New Textures (I cleaned up everything properly, so you should not have problems on older PCs)
- More human life on map (more caravans etc.)
- The villagers will have their routines
- More quests
- Quests and Knowledge journal with how to do what in game (In journal)
- New weapons
- Better guides for the player, and difficulty areas. But less inviting for I WANT IT NOW type of people.
- And some surprises from the work-in-progress list and community-request list
- New building materials

5 types of stone-type building material: Brick, Granite, Slate, Sandstone, Limestone

5 types of trees: elm (for bows, ropes), birch (health brews, tar, tableware, furniture, coal), Pine (Buildings), Poplar (Furniture, little buildings, barrels, Spruce (shields, fortifications)
Even more less inviting for I WANT IT NOW type of players.
We are not here to make tons of money. Maybe it will happen, but it does not matter. We are here to make a game - that people who are engaged in our project will love.

And by reading those of you who are really engaged (The majority, of course, not 100%). You would like to have more layers of the crafting - leveling system. More decisions into what shall I pick to get what I want etc. etc.

So if you are a type of player - I started the game - I want to beat a knight in full armor and burn a village. Sorry, this is not a place for you. This is or rather will be a place for old school gamers - with patience, willing to make up a plan, build a camp - and then decide how to get to it. Our hope is that we will - install some of this virtues in younger people.

But we will move the knights in the more difficult areas. We just thought that it is pretty obvious, even without a skull flying over his head. That a knight in a full plate armor was a mighty opponent at this time and on level one(1-20) you will not be able to beat him. We are willing to learn and change all the time. Despite the fact, some of you might consider us dinosaurs as we started our gaming carrier on something called Amiga.

If of course we have misinterpreted your wishes - tell us right away - we started so early, so we can be fully flexible and grant your wishes true.

Week 3 – 2600 knights joined our cause + 4 quests and a lot of fixes

2600 Knight joined our cause

First, we would like to thank you for your support. 2600 people is a small medieval town. We are very happy that so many of you, would like to be a part of creating a great medieval game.

All your good comments and words of encouragement are very important to us. As it helps us to push forward, getting better, fix and work faster on new stuff. Yes, as nerdy game-developers may seem, we have feelings too.

We are of course aware that some of you feel disappointed at this moment, but don’t worry. Next year you will see what a good investment you made when you will have hours and hours of fun and medieval adventure to experience. We are gamers too, so we understand your „anger”.

But please Remember we are on the first phase - 15 August - 15 October: Feedback and idea gathering + bug fixing

If you read our store page, you would know what awaits you for now. Yea I know. I never read an offer on Steam too.

Don’t worry. We will finish this game and make it great, and we are ready for troubles on the road. And we see and are very grateful that many of you are so willing to help and put your hearts in it. THANK YOU, fellow knights and princesses!

Players creativity makes our heads pop

Despite the fact there are still 3 months to the castle updates – some of you shared really cool buildings on our discord. As I always say - and I am still living in a shack :(

Time for: Patch notes –

NEW

The story update is scheduled for next year, but we will throw in some quests now and then

+ 4 quests (Franz, Bolko, Ludomir)

FIXED

-  3 slots for autosave – that means you will have 3 saves and there is much less possible for you to get into the death-save loop even if you forget to save by hand – which is very recommended.

- Trees and collectibles do not regrow in buildings anymore (Grass still does)

- Blocking works

- Animals do not get stuck on trees anymore

- Audio settings remember by your game

- If you have full inventory, you will not be over encumbered when the weight is below your limit

-The effect of over encumbered disappears also when you sell stuff under your max weight

- It also updates when you add points into strength

- No more two prices for axe in stone anvil

- Equipment –  equipped still weights. (yes, we know you will hate us for it)

- Stone anvil does not show options from other buildings anymore

- No more dark overlay on the dialogue menu

Changed

- Increased experience from crafting actives (not everyone wants to kill and rob)

- The iron tools now have much more durability than the stone ones

- Armour weights a little less

- Deers are a little weaker

Next update 19.08.2022. With the next update, the demo will be updated too. It is now missing two updates.
