Playtest is now live!



Our new playtest is now live! You can grab a Steam key now by joining the community at OTK.to/AP. While you're there, you can also enter to win a sweet, custom gaming PC from Starforge Systems.



Here are the patch notes and everything new in this playtest:

What's New:
  • Save Files Wipe: Erased all save files to introduce a fresh start with the new progression system.
  • New Map: Loner's Camp: Hub area for character customization, meta progression, and training facilities.
  • New UI/UX flow to Start a Picnic: Split into single-player and multiplayer options for easier game initiation and friend invites.
  • New System: Discoveries: Metagame progression unlocking content through challenges.
  • New Screen: Re-designed End Game Screen: Detailed statistics and breakdowns post-game session.
  • New Map: Twilight Dam: Forest biome map with unique enemies and Mini-boss, Wilson.
  • New Enemies and Mini-Bosses: Introducing Berserker and Wilson for gameplay variety.
  • New Curios and Device: Seven new upgrades and Rojao, an anti-air grenade, enhancing gameplay.
  • New Mechanics: Re-Roll and Abyss: Player Re-Roll charges and respawn mechanic in Camp.
  • Air Control improvements: Enhanced character movement in the air based on player feedback.
  • New animations for characters: Custom animations for Bonnie, JD, and Hani.
  • Graphics Optimizations: Improved performance with over 20 fps increase reported by some testers.
Changes:
  • Rebalanced values: Adjustments to Mementos, upgrades, and weapon damage.
  • Mementos Screen: Added feedback and gamepad support for better user experience.
  • Paulão Shop Changes: Shop now unlocked by completing Discovery, with new icons and visual effects.
  • Weapon Movement Speeds: Rebalanced movement speeds while shooting across all weapons.
  • Train Plateau Map Changes: Tweaks to boss arena spawn positions and environment layout.
  • Walkypod hit VFX: Visual effects improvements for Walkypod hits.
  • Small movement changes: Adjustments to player's interaction with surfaces.
Fixes:
  • Syncing issues: Fixed Mementos not syncing properly for clients.
  • Upgrade selection fixes: Addressed issues with selecting upgrades using gamepad support.
  • Visual and gameplay fixes: Various fixes for VFX, hit markers, and gameplay mechanics.
Known Issues:
  • UI localization issues, Discoveries counting in Camp, missing upgrade stats, incorrect boss names, and map icons not displaying correctly.

Overall, the update introduces significant new content, improvements, and fixes to enhance the player experience. ;)

Playtest Atomic Picnic April 10-17!

Hello Loners! We’re running our next public playtest of Atomic Picnic next week, April 10-17.

You can get in to the test starting Wednesday, April 10, by joining our community at OTK.to/AP. On Friday, April 13, it will open up to everyone right on our Steam page. You can play through the 17th, we’ll turn things off first thing on the morning of the 18th.


Here’s a breakdown of everything new in this playtest:
  • The Loner’s Camp: A new hub and lobby where you can pick your character and loadout, and get some practice on the firing range and platforming course.

  • A new map: Twilight Dan is our second map, tighter and more frenetic than the first.

  • Discoveries & progression system: You’ll start this playtest with one character, one weapon, and one device. Unlock more via challenges we’ve dubbed “Discoveries”.

  • New mini-boss and enemy: Our new mini-boss, “Wilson”, and new enemy mobs known as “Berserkers” can be encountered on both maps.

  • Seven new upgrades:
    1. Bible - Bring down an orbital strike surrounding your character.
    2. Static Dash - Use of Air Gear charges up the damage of your next attack.
    3. Empowered Shot - Boost bullet damage on successful active reload.
    4. Shockwave - Area of effect damage on landing after using Air Gear
    5. Dash Shot - Fire a bullet when using Air Gear to dash.
    6. Projectile Pattern on Device - Alters the pattern of your device’s impact.
    7. Absorb - Damage taken while using Air Gear heals your character.
  • Assorted fixes and optimizations: Bugs squashed, graphics optimizations, UI tweaks, an upgrade re-roll feature, and much more.

Playtest Version Update! - v0.2.1



Hey Loners! A quick update just went live!

Changes
The game now opens automatically in windowed full-screen
Chamusca tick damage was reduced from 8 to 5
Chamusca debuff when out of area-of-effect damage reduced from 8 to 5 and duration reduced from 5 to 4

Fixes
Move Speed bonus Level 3 changed from 90% to 9% (we see you guys)
Fixed Chamusca being able to bypass the Jellyfish boss' shield
Fixed a crash on some specific intel CPUs when clicking "Start Picnic"
Fixed Little Mac spawning inside parts of the environment

We will keep monitoring and fixing the most urgent bugs you guys report 🙂

We are excited to reveal that Mad Mushroom is Atomic Picnic's new publisher! Announced during the OTK Video Game Awards, Atomic Picnic will enter Steam Early Access in 2024.
