Patch Notes - Next Fest Demo
Hello, Hitchhiker.
We've been hard at work on the game since Closed Beta #2, and the Next Fest Demo brings a LOT of changes based on your feedback. Here's a short list of everything we've done since the last time you've traveled the multiverse:
WEAPON DROP REWORK
We heard your feedback! Weapons no longer drop from Blue Chests.
- Blue chests now offer you a choice between two different random items.
- Weapons are now dropped by defeated enemy units throughout the levels.
MULTIVERSE HOPPING
The portal devices you've found previously throughout the biomes now have a new function. You can now:
- Bring a character you have previously unlocked into the current biome.
- Travel to a previously unlocked universe with your current character.
NEW MODS AND POWERUPS
There are a whole bunch of new mods and powerups that should enable more interesting builds. Here are just a few of our favorites:
- Mirror Dash: Dashes reflect projectiles back at the caster.
- Adrenaline Rush: Rapidly defeating enemies temporarily increases your movement/attack speed. Continuing to defeat enemies prolongs the effect.
- Seeking Wisp: Rapidly defeating enemies spawns a seeking projectile.
- Variety Striker: Kills with one weapon temporarily power up your other weapon.
- Volatile Strikes: Defeated enemies have a chance to explode, dealing Fire damage to nearby units.
- Vengeance: Taking damage highlights the enemy that injured you. Your next attack on that enemy is a guaranteed crit.
- AND MORE
NEW CONSUMABLES
Red Chests now have a larger list of consumables, such as:
- Adrenaline Shot: Temporarily boosts move and attack speed by 20%. Stacks with other speed enhancements.
- Rally Banner: Deploys an energy field that massively boosts your Crit chance while inside of it.
- Radial Freeze: Instantly inflicts Freeze against all on-screen enemies.
- Projectile Syphon: Converts incoming projectile damage into healing for a short time.
- AND MORE
OTHER NEW MECHANICS
- New aiming controls for Mouse and Keyboard players while playing as Naira.
- Kera now has an airdodge.
- Difficulty rework: enemy distribution starts a bit easier than the previous demo and escalates in difficulty after reaching certain milestones to give players more of a chance to get familiar with the levels.
NEW MUSIC
- Brand new music for Subterraria and Forge.
NEW MODES
- Boss Rush and Flawless Boss Rush are unlocked by completing the main demo
NEW CUTSCENES
- The bosses have all received new cutscenes that we've worked very hard on.
