Go Home Annie Steam Deck Settings Guide

We love the Steam Deck and have been targeting it as a platform for Go Home Annie ever since the Deck was announced. Here's the best settings to get the most out of your handheld experience.
Balanced 40fps experience
This is the way we like to play the game, striking a balance between good performance and high visual fidelity.
Start playing Go Home Annie on your Deck and press the button , go into the Performance tab , press Advanced View and set the frame limit to 40FPS/40HZ.
In the Main Menu of Go Home Annie go into Settings>Graphics:

Resolution: leave as is (1280x800@60)
Display: leave as is (ANX7530 U - 1280x800/60)
Resolution Mode: leave as is (Borderless Fullscreen)
Vertical Sync: On
Upsampling Technique: TAAU
Upsampling Quality: Balanced
Texture Quality: Medium
Anti Aliasing: Off (setting an Upsampling Technique overrides this setting)
Motion Blur: Low
Depth Of Field: Medium
Volumetric Fog: Medium
Object Complexity: Medium
Ambient Occlusion: Low
*Bloom: On
Contact shadows: Off
**Film Grain: On
**Lens distortion: On
**Chromatic aberration: On
High visual fidelity 30fps experience:
Since Go Home Annie is a slower paced game most of the time, 30fps is fine if you want to get all the graphics fidelity you can out of your Deck.
Start playing Go Home Annie on your Deck and press the button , go into the Performance tab , press Advanced View and set the frame limit to 30FPS/30HZ.
In the Main Menu of Go Home Annie go into Settings>Graphics:

Resolution: leave as is (1280x800@60)
Display: leave as is (ANX7530 U - 1280x800/60)
Resolution Mode: leave as is (Borderless Fullscreen)
Vertical Sync: On
Upsampling Technique: TAAU
Upsampling Quality: Quality
Texture Quality: High
Anti Aliasing: Off (setting an Upsampling Technique overrides this setting)
Motion Blur: High
Depth Of Field: High
Volumetric Fog: High
Object Complexity: High
Ambient Occlusion: High
*Bloom: On
Contact shadows: On
**Film Grain: On
**Lens distortion: On
**Chromatic aberration: On
High framerate 60fps experience:
Go Home Annie can't run at a stable 60 on the Steam Deck all of the time unfortunately, but it will hold on to that number 90% of the time. If you want all the frames without caring about the sharpest graphics, this is what you need to do:
Start playing Go Home Annie on your Deck and press the button , go into the Performance tab , press Advanced View and set the frame limit to 60FPS/60HZ.
In the Main Menu of Go Home Annie go into Settings>Graphics:

Resolution: leave as is (1280x800@60)
Display: leave as is (ANX7530 U - 1280x800/60)
Resolution Mode: leave as is (Borderless Fullscreen)
Vertical Sync: On
Upsampling Technique: TAAU
Upsampling Quality: Performance
Texture Quality: Low
Anti Aliasing: Off (setting an Upsampling Technique overrides this setting)
Motion Blur: Off
Depth Of Field: Off
Volumetric Fog: Medium
Object Complexity: Low
Ambient Occlusion: Off
*Bloom: On
Contact shadows: Off
**Film Grain: On
**Lens distortion: On
**Chromatic aberration: On

*Go Home Annie is not designed to be played with Bloom Off as some parts of the game will look a bit wrong, but the option is there for you if you want to squeeze out every bit of performance out of your Deck.
**Many visuals in the game rely on these effects being On so turn them Off only if you really hate them.

We hope this guide helps you with your handheld Go Home Annie experience.

Go Home Annie—Character Creation

Indie Horror Showcase

Go Home Annie is participating in The Indie Horror Showcase on October 24th with a brand-new trailer! John Wolfe will be hosting the event, so we’re expecting top-tier entertainment. Along with Go Home Annie, there will be trailers for The Thing: Remastered, Clock Tower: Rewind, and loads of other upcoming indie horror gems.

Character Design

I’d like to share a bit of our character creation process.

We start with a general idea of the character’s life and what shaped them into the person they are now, in terms of both visuals and personality. We then give tons of notes to our concept artists (in Annie’s case, Antonia Klarić), who turn our words into beautiful concept art.

Exploring concepts

Annie’s final concept art. And a good reference if anyone wants to cosplay as Annie this Halloween🙂

Next, we create a 3D model of the character in iClone Character Creator, using a pre-existing base and adapting it based on our concept art. We either create the character’s clothes from scratch or buy them on 3D model stores and adapt them to our needs.

This allows us to give lifelike movements to our characters.

Work in progress vs. final 3D model of Annie.

Demonstrating facial animations on a character. Note the skin around the eyes moving in conjunction with the eyes.

Finally, we manually create facial expressions and lip movements for the character and animate their face based on the voice actor’s performance.

By the way, we listened to over 1,000 auditions to find the perfect actors for all our characters. We’ll share more about each of our voice actors closer to release.

Some of the characters you’ll meet in Go Home Annie. We’re keeping most of them under wraps for you to discover for yourself while playing the game.

Go Home Annie Leaking Into Real Life

We wanted to create something special to show off at conferences and fairs (and have a cool prop for the office). Last year, we had a whole basement from the game recreated (chainsaw included). This year, we wanted to do something more specific to Go Home Annie, so we bought a mannequin, ripped off its arms, and painted them red. We then went searching for the perfect bucket to create SCP-R-354—the Red Bucket.

Bringing SCP-R-354 to life.

We can’t wait for you to see what the aftermath of the bucket scene looks like in-game and what happens next.

That’s it for this devlog. Now it’s back to the trenches for us to fix all the bugs and bring you a stable experience for release!
