Demo Update - Co-op!

[h2]Demo Update[/h2]

It’s been five months since the last demo update, and a lot has happened in Space Scavenger’s development!

This update improves a lot of things and brings it closer to where the full game is headed. Expect new weapons to experiment with, new level types, more Gadgets, new pre-made difficulty tiers and, of course, the biggest addition: Local split-screen co-op!


[h2]Co-op[/h2]
Co-op is here! Team up with a friend and take on the demo together! Work as a duo to scavenge, build, and survive the first sector of the game. Share resources, combine your strengths, and back each other up when things get tough. Whether you divide your firepower evenly or support each other with specialized roles, teamwork will be the key to survival!

Steam Remote play works great for playing with a friend remotely!

Development Update - Winter 2025

[h3]Hello everyone, Jonas here! Time for a Space Scavenger 2 development update![/h3]

[h2]What's been done?[/h2]
I've been working on Space Scavenger 2 for 3 years now and it's really coming together!
I could go into detail about the development of all the systems - let me know if that's something you'd be interested in! But to keep it short, most core systems are done or very close to done, along with 4 sectors and 3 bosses. Which means the game is playable from start to finish, including an early version of the final boss.

It feels good to play and you can get some pretty fun builds going! There's also meta progression, where more of the game gets unlocked as you play more, including higher difficulty levels.

Split-screen co-op has been planned since the start and recently received some love and attention to make it more solid. The Demo will be updated soon with some new stuff, including co-op!

[h2]What's left to do?[/h2]
My goal for the coming months is to tie everything together in a way where I could release the game into Early Access if I really wanted to. That means:
  • Refining the Upgrade system
  • Adding more Modules and Gadgets
  • Expanding the meta progression with ship skins and starting capsules.
  • Implementing Saving and Loading
  • Adding a mode with online leaderboards.

Right now, the game always follows the same 3-4 sector path, later in the year I want to add at least 2 more sectors so that you can choose a new path in each run, playing new sectors, with different enemies, planets and gameplay mechanics.

Demo Patch 2

Hello again!
Another patch for the Demo!

tl:dr
Improved tutorial instructions, fixed bugs, less noisy fire effects

[h3]Bugs[/h3]
  • Ship Details button can now be rebound properly.
  • Fixed bug where throwing axe could get left behind on the previous level.

[h3]Tutorial[/h3]
  • Clear arrow throughout the tutorial pointing the way.
  • Dynamic text instructions based on player actions.
  • Added extra dialog before voidborn arrival in tutorial.

[h3]Other[/h3]
  • Clearer visuals when Boss has shields active
  • More transparent artillery targeting and friendly AOE markers.
  • Fewer Outposts/NPCs in sector map. Better spread.
  • Reduced glow on fire visuals to reduce visual noise
  • Gauntlet settings are saved after exiting the game.
  • Small balancing changes
  • Added new Loading Screen tips.


Known issue:
Sometimes gamepads/controllers can stop functioning. I'm looking for the issue, but it might not be solved for a while.
