Development Diaries: Statuses

There are several dozens of various statuses in the game. Neutral, positive and negative - all of them affect your character in a particular way, so you better keep an eye on those white/green/red icons in the upper left corner of your screen. We’ll talk about all of them.

First of all, there are statuses that primarily affect your character's vitals, so try not to forget your meal and don’t overwork yourself!

If you're interested in staying healthy and recovering fast, you'll want to see the green icons for 'Vivacity' and 'Natural Recovery' at all times.

Keep an eye on the weather, because weather conditions may have an immediate effect on your character. Is it sunny, windy or rainy? You won’t suffer from it at first, but these statuses may soon transform into other, not so pleasant ones.

Aaaaand that’s what happens if you don’t take weather conditions seriously, eat not the best food and wander around Malaria swamps (what a life!). As a result of external influences, you can gain a disease status. There are several types of them with various gradations. Medicine helps prevent a disease and keeps it from progressing. Sleep and some types of food can also help.

There are also positive 'Quality sleep' and 'Health recovery' statuses that appear when your health is being restored.

Take a minute to rest near a fire and get this nice 'By the fire' status. It will give your character full protection from the cold and pests, and helps to recover faster from damp, wind chill, and freezing, as well as to cure the flu.

'Overloaded' and 'Immobilized' statuses keep track of whether you are carrying too much and if you really need those four massive stones in your Inventory right now.

There is “In water’ status that may transform into ‘Drowning’ status if you forget to breathe or stay in the water for too long. There will be other signs like constantly losing stamina points and loud gurgling sounds. You won’t miss it.

‘Dark’ status is pretty self-explanatory. Just light a fire or wait for the morning.

You shouldn’t stay for too long in the territories with these statuses. Better find some other places to idle.

Several types of medicine will give you 'Protection from pests' status to scare away spiders, scorpions and other pests. There are also several powerful potions made of Living Water, which will give you some nice statuses. Not feeling hunger/thirst/fatigue, unlimited stamina, or the ability to see animals through obstacles — if you find one of those bottles, be sure to take it with you, that may come up handy.

Can’t find a dropped item or look for special objects? Don’t forget to level up your Concentration perk and press V key to gain ‘Concentration’ status allowing you to get into a special focused mode with everything interesting marked and highlighted.

Be sure to always keep the track of all current statuses on a separate tab (press ‘C’ key). Along with the list of all current statuses, you can also find the description of each status, its effects and recommendations on removing it, if it's negative (before it’s too late). Stay safe!

Development Diaries: Rainy Island

Survival: Fountain of Youth attempts to provide the surviving experience in various conditions. Prepare to get wet, because in the course of following the story, you'll have to visit the Rainy Island. We'll talk a bit about what to expect there.

Please, note that this island is not available in the demo.

There is not a lot of land to explore, though it will take time to get around due to difficult conditions and dangerous animals. Boars are expecting you, so prepare to fight a lot. Or crawl, if you prefer peaceful ways of dealing with things.

By the way, Rainy Island is the place where you’ll find a clay deposit, and clay is used for crafting really nice things.

You can also find precious mold, a very useful substance that can be used to cure all types of diseases. Beware of crocodiles though.

Rainy Island is an essential point to progress through the storyline. There you will get some important information and will learn what to do next. A spooky skeleton included.

Perfect weather, but not when you're outside. Prepare to get wet!

Development Diaries: Staying hydrated

Surviving is difficult, to say the very least. You want to make sure that all your basic needs are covered, with the most important of them being to satisfy your thirst. While collecting each and every green coconut you see is still useful, you may want to check some other ways of providing yourself with liquid.

Please, note that some of these ways are not available in the demo.

Water storages can be found in the area - they were carefully built by someone beforehand. They collect water when it's raining, so the faster you get to a water storage after a good rain, the less precious water will have time to evaporate from it. And don't forget to bring a couple of flasks with you!

Sometimes you have to take things in your own hands and start crafting. Wooden and clay rainwater collectors are something you can make yourself, so you won't have to wander dangerous territories in search of a water storage. They look nice and are able to collect 15 and 40 units of rain water, respectively.

When you improve your crafting skills enough, you may want to build a water distiller. Just pour some saltwater into it, light the fire and start waiting while saltwater will gradually evaporate and condense into freshwater. In the meantime, you may entertain yourself by watching the occasional water drop falling down from the pipe (no one will judge you for not doing something useful, that's one of the perks of living on a desert island).

Solar water distiller has the same mechanism, though it uses solar heat and doesn't require fuel. However it only works during the day and when it's located under the sun - the sunnier the weather, the higher the productivity.

There is also a nice thing called Palm juice collector that can be placed on a date palm and store up to 5 units of juice. Not really water, but will increase your water stat anyway.

Always keep track of your water stat - there are still plenty of other ways to die!

Development Diaries: Equipment sets

Hello, survivors! We are excited to cover more content already prepared for you in Survival: Fountain of Youth. Today, we’ll talk about all sets of equipment available in the game, what they are made of and their characteristics. So, check information below to know the latest fashion trends in Survival: Fountain of Youth!
Leaf set
Leaf set consists of a hat, cape, skirt and sandals. It’s the first equipment available for the player and increases protection from the sun. It’s easy to craft and repair, since it’s made of wide and narrow leaves, which can be easily found in most places.
Animal hide set
Animal hide set consists of a hat, cape, pants and shoes. It increases sun and rain protection, but to craft it, first you’ll need to master your hunting skills and gather some fresh hides and animal tendons.
Seaweed set
To make a seaweed hat, poncho, shorts and sandals, you’ll need to collect some algae that grow underwater and make seaweed fabric. The seaweed set not only provides sun, rain and heat protection, but also gives the character some armor units and decreases damage from animals.
Leather set
Leather hood, jacket, pants and boots will increase the character’s protection from sun, rain, wind and heat, while also providing some armor points and protection from animals’ attacks.
Linen set
Flax, specifically, linen fabric will allow you to craft the linen set, consisting of a hood, linothorax, pants and boots. Compared to the previous set, it will give the character more armor points and also protect from cold.
Leather set with copper plates
Each item from the basic leather set can be improved by adding copper ingots, greatly increasing armor points given to the character.
Linen set with iron
The best set of armor in the game is made of a basic linen set and iron ingots. It increases protection from all negative statuses in the game (sun, rain, wind, cold and heat), gives the maximum of armor points and decreases the damage from animal attacks.

Development Diaries: House building

Hello, survivors! We are excited to share with you the news on the feature we’ve been working on for the past few months. No more sleeping and crafting under the open sky - you'll have the ability to build a proper house with walls made of sticks and a roof. Like this. Nice, isn’t it?

All blueprints associated with the house building will be located in the 'House' crafting category. They will be opened the same as all other blueprints - after finding one of the essential resources.

The whole building process consists of placing basic elements and attaching them to each other. Foundation, floor, walls, roofs, ladders, stairs - you’ll be able to build a house of any size and design, with multiple levels.

In addition to the feeling of comfort and security, all basic houses will protect you from wind, rain and sun. Improved houses will also provide protection from the cold. By the way, animals will not be able to enter a house as well

Hope you are excited about the upcoming feature. We’ll be sharing more information as the developing process keeps going. Stay tuned!
