[h2]ABOUT HYENAS[/h2]



HYENAS is a hero-based, multiplayer extraction shooter. Choose a Hyena to play as - each with a unique weapon, ability, and personality - to form a crew of three and steal valuable Merch. The action takes place on vast, themed 'Plunderships' returning to Mars from Earth, loaded with salvaged Merch for your crew to steal.

Competing with four other raiding crews, your goal is to find and crack secured vaults, then steal enough Merch to make your escape. Standing in your way are not only rival players but also the “MURFs” – security forces who will fight to the death to protect the precious cargo.

Once a team has stolen enough Merch, they activate the Plundership’s VIP Extraction, which is revealed on the map. You must find it and make your getaway or stop others from making theirs. The crew that escapes first is the winner, so make sure it’s you!

Fast and frenetic combat is enhanced by the unique weaponry and ability of each Hyena. Additionally, each Plundership features zero gravity areas, some of which can be toggled on and off. Gunfights take on an entirely new dimension, literally, when gravity is no longer a concern. Enemy players can come at you from any direction, so you’ll need to keep your head on a swivel – or make sure to ambush them first.

[h2]ABOUT CLOSED BETA[/h2]



After running a few top-secret Alpha sessions over the last year, we’re excited to announce that HYENAS is now entering Closed Beta! (Insert champagne bottle pop noise here...)

Servers open August 31st, and close September 11th.

The Closed Beta will be PC-only, taking place on Steam.

[h2]HYENA REVEAL: HERO-KI[/h2]

Revealed as part of the Future Games Show Spring Showcase, we're thrilled to announce the latest addition to the HYENAS roster: Hero-Ki.

Armed with a specially modified camera to capture a target's likeness and cosplay as them, Hero-Ki can use his penchant for disguise to evade threats and exploit the environment in HYENAS, as only the sharpest-eyed rival will be able to detect the clues that reveal him as an imposter.

All PC players are invited to #JoinThePack at playhyenas.com for their chance to participate in the next alpha test for HYENAS, which begins on Friday 24 March at 17:00 GMT.

In our longest running alpha ever you'll get to play as Hero-Ki on both playable Plundership maps, letting you run wild across the New York-themed We Took Manhattan and the 80s-inspired Greed is Good. This alpha will be live for eleven days, giving players plenty of time to get stuck in and sharpen their tactics before its doors close at 09:00 BST on Tuesday 4th April.

Welcome to 2023!

We thought we'd start the year by putting our best foot forward and show you when you can expect to play the HYENAS alpha for the next few months. So whether you've already been invited or are chomping at the bit you can make sure you free up your calendars.

We've got prospective dates for our next four PC alpha tests, starting this weekend. Best of all, there's still time for you to sign up and take part!

 

We're excited to share the exact contents of these updates closer to the live date but, for now, suffice it to say there's some cool stuff on the way.

[h2]New Year, New Map, New York[/h2]

Get ready to get busy, the Hyenas are taking a trip to The Big Apple... in space!

The money-hungry big-shots on Mars have commissioned a whole Plundership’s worth of salvaged merch from the remains of New York City, are you going to let them get away with peddling our precious pop culture as paltry goods?

‘We Took Manhattan’ is a tighter, more compact Plundership experience, enabling Hyena crews to zip across the ship in search of Merch and rival teams.  

The tightness of the level introduces smaller spaces for the wily Hyenas to evade one another, or set up ambushes on rival crews, and provides more opportunities for close-ranged, intense firefights in the bowels of a Plundership.

[h2]It's the final countdown![/h2]

You've done your waiting, two whole months of it, but the time has finally come.

We've configured the queues, synchronized the servers, amplified the awesomeness, and now we're ready to bring European players into the HYENAS Alpha.

You'll be plundering vaults, shooting bad guys, and helping us squash bugs before you know it! Thank you for your patience, we're looking forward to seeing you all in orbit.

European players, your first session kicks off on the 23rd September, running till the 26th September.

Here’s the deets on how it’ll work:

• Matchmaking is cross-region - glorious queue times
• Social systems are global - make friends across the pond
• Leaderboard is global - show the US/LATAM contingent your continental might!

If selected, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to download the game, as well as an invite to the HYENAS Discord where you'll receive further information.

Good news all – we’re almost ready to begin the first phase of our Alpha. We can’t wait to finally get HYENAS into the hands of our players – this is the culmination of a long journey for us as well as the beginning of a new (even longer) one for you!

Our first session is going to be running in the US ONLY on PC from 09:00 EDT on 14 July to 04:00 EDT on 18 July. For those of you in other areas or on other platforms – we’ll be opening up future tests to you before long. Thanks for your patience!
