Demons Happened News

Less frustration, more coffee breaks

At long last I decided to act on the feedback I received in the last 3 years (and especially the last week), and finally, FINALLY I took the time to add the coffee break scene to the second world. I always wanted to do it but I felt like working on Demons Happened rather than on the sequel was a waste of time.
Well, no more! The mid-world breather looks exactly like I wanted it, and it feels as relaxing as I hoped!

Changes in this patch:
  • The hardest levels of the first two worlds are now less frustrating.
  • Yes, this includes the very first level, now split across two smaller levels. An inordinate amount of people had trouble with the second "jump", causing a lot of unexpected attrition
  • New music for the second part of the second world! My ears needed a break.
  • COFFEEEE BREEEEAK! I always wanted a coffee drinking scene to break the intensity of the action. This should make the second world less tiring.

Thank you so much to everyone who played the game in these 3 years! Now, unless new bugs pop up, I can put my mind to rest and focus on the sequel: Demons Happened - Solve the Housing Crisis.

Tiny fix

For the first time in 3 years somebody tried to remap an action to a mouse button, and my god why and when did that break ._.

So yeah, it's a quick fix :D

On the other hand, I think I'll start cooking something new with this engine...

Completionist achievements fix

Good news everyone, somebody new completed the game 100%!
Bad news everyone, a corner case came up that prevents two achievements from being unlocked.
Good news again everyone, this release should fix it!

Changes:
  • Issue preventing the Crystal Clear and Demonic Eradication achievements from unlocking fixed
  • Introduced an entry in the Options menu to manually re-check your level completion stats to unlock those two achievements. If you collected all crystals and/or killed every demon but the achievement didn't unlock for you, please use this option to make the achievement checker do a second pass :)

Waddling pic for the waddlebox

The fact that I never got around to putting in a pic for the waddlebox dialogue kept bugging me, so I can sleep better now! It also made me want to model them in 3D for my next game, it's a pity you can't really see the duck legs in a top down view...

Crash fixes

Hotfix for a very nice bug that made the game crash at random for a few people, introduced updating the SDL libraries to 2.0.22.
The kind of inconsistent bugs that don't show up during testing. Updating libraries, main source of premature aging for devs since 1964.

Changes:
  • Fixed bug that made the game crash on level change for some people. I have no idea why it didn't happen to everyone, but well.
  • Fixed the mouse capturing when the options menu is closed on the end level screen.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes killed the music permanently after playing a silent level.
