Masters Of Destruction update is now out!

With the Masters Of Destruction update comes plenty of new stuff and improvements!

It did take me longer then expected to finalize this major free update for RETOOLED and I'm quite happy with the results and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have. GL&HF wrecking havoc in RETOOLED!

NEW
- MASTER LEVELS (10 of them!). Fight your way through the story with this refreshed experience!
- TALES, level POWER STATION: SKY's call for destruction will not go unanswered.
- Subtitles now exist!
- Level Overwatch received major arena level design updates.
- New challenges, all counting towards unlocking progress.
- Player impact VFX.

Updates:
- Lightning updates to levels Parabellum, Overwatch, Icarus, RE-Watch, Cooldown, Gatekeepers, Horizon, Terminus and Apex.
- VFX updates to Plasma Rifle, Minigun, Railgun and ESD Grenade.
- Minor menu updates, trying to make it cleaner.
- Level design tweaks to Awakening, Icarus and Cooldown.
- Several nav mesh fixes.

Changes:
- Plasma Rifle got a increased rate of fire with slightly lowered damage.
- Plasma Rifle fire sound optimization.
- Plasma Rifle alt fire arc updated.
- ESD Grenade can be charged with Minigun alt fire.
- Highscore rank requirements rebalance.

Update 1.1.5 is now out!

Hello everyone!

I hope summer has been treating you all well, for myself, I have managed to get a week off to recover but now I'm back to work on RETOOLEDs next content update Masters Of Destruction. The goal is to have it finished and released in Q4 2024 :). Meanwhile I decided to release a smaller update 1.1.5 which is out now!

[h3]Levels[/h3]
- Icarus got some level design changes, mainly platforming sections.
- Icarus has also recieved a new lighting pass.
- Gatekeepers, fixed several AI navigation issues.
- Gatekeepers has also recieved a new lighting pass.

TALES OF DESTRUCTION update is now OUT!

The TALES OF DESTRUCTION update is now out!

This update brings plenty of new content, so let me highlight the major features :)

A high score and rank system have been implemented on each map as well as an overall Story, rank and high score. Learn and earn the score multipliers to go from NOVICE to the rank LORD OF TOOLS.

TALES: A new game mode has come with its first level, Distribution Hub. Experience RETOOLED turn up to 11. :)

Weapon alt fire: Each weapon has received an alternative fire option. Expanding the way you wreck your enemies. With weapon alt fires, new weapon combos have appeared as well as a new crosshair system that will more efficiently display weapon information.

It has been a lot work getting this update ready for release, and I hope you all like it! The full patch notes are below.

As a final note, I just wanted to say thank you all taking a chance on RETOOLED and looking forward I am really excited about what is coming up next for RETOOLED. Update Master Of Destruction is now estimated for late Q3 or early Q4 2024.

Patch Notes Tales Of Destruction

NEW
- TALES (New game mode), level DISTRIBUTION HUB: SKY's call for destruction will not go unanswered.
- High score and Rank system. Wreck your enemies in style to achieve your best score and climb the ranks. Implemented on all maps as well as an overall story, rank and high score.
- Alt fire for each weapon. Designed complement your arsenal and giving you more options to dispose of your foes.
-- See the help menu for more info on each weapon alt fire and tips for weapon combinations.
- The golden tool, each story map now contains a hidden "golden tool". Picking it up gives a temporary highscore multiplier.
- Multiple levels have gotten minor changes, mainly layout and lightning updates.
- The help menu now has new entries detailing how the high score system functions, score events and multipliers.
- 7 new achievements.

HUD UPDATE
- New crosshair system that allows for greater information display within each weapon's crosshair as well as new animations.
- High score display widget added, togglable and scalable. Off by default.
-- Weapon state display close to crosshair, togglable with an opacity setting.

CHANGES
- Weapon switching and firing code has been overhauled. This fixed a logic bug that could delay the first shot fired after switching weapons in some cases. The overall weapon switching is now faster.
- AI Utility and Omni bots have received shield changes. Instead of reducing incoming damage they now have a separate shield pool.
- Multiple enemies have now been marked as "High Value Targets" throughout the levels. Destroy them to get a temporary highscore multiplier. (High score display widget needs to be enabled)
- Player robot has received a texture update.
- Distribution hub's level challenges count towards progression unlocks.
- Change default keybindings for zoom, melee and added a new one for weapon alt fire.

OPTIMIZATIONS
- Several VFX impacts have been optimized.

BUG FIXES
- Awakening Boosted jump tutorial will now close if you skip skill check area.

Tales Of Destruction - preview build OUT NOW, full release late february :)

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a great start to the new year, I've been productive myself :) Today I'm releasing a preview build of the upcoming update, Tales Of Destruction,

Feel free to opt-in for the beta branch on steam and let me know what you think.

I aim to fully release Tales Of Destruction in the end of february with the final additions that didn't make it into the preview build. The main addition that is missing is alternative weapon fire for each of the weapons.

RETOOLED : Dev Update

Hi everyone!

I wanted to give you all an update on the development of RETOOLED and what to expect for the future.

First of all, today I'm releasing update 1.0.8 which contains: New melee attack, camera shake overhaul, new enemy death animations, QOL features, HUD updates, more help menu entries and a few bug fixes and balancing.

Work is progressing on the big 1.1 update, now called Tales Of Destruction. I'm aiming to release Tales Of Destruction early Q1 2024 and for FREE. :) I will take more about what to expect from this update early next year.

I can also announce Tales of Destruction won't be the only addition next year, the prep work has already begun on 1.2, Masters of destruction which I hope to release the first half of 2024 and for free :D

Patch notes for 1.0.8:

  • NEW - Melee attack, you can finally punch those pesky bots. Dash + melee, charges the attack dealing even more damage and pushes enemies further away!
  • NEW - Physics death animations for all enemy bots, punch or explode them to destruction to trigger these new animations!
  • NEW - Camera shake system overhaul, nothing was left untouched. Actions and movement now feel more impact full. Not a fan of camera shakes? There is an option to put them to low or turn off player induced camera shakes.
    - Several AI attacks can now cause smaller camera shakes.
  • NEW - Help menu now contains the enemy roster, read up on the foes you face.
  • HUD updates:
    - Hit indicator size and animation updated. Its opacity setting is now exposed to the user.
    - Critical damage post process effect added, color now fades out when approaching critical damage. Changed message's position and size.

    My goal is to increase the information intake in the heat of the moment. Feel free to drop suggestions for future additions.
  • Bug fixes:
    - Wasp tank direct rocket hits should now deal damage.
    - Parabellum arena skip fixed.
    - Weapons and abilities missed gets still unlocked at the end of the level.
  • Smaller optimizations to some of the projectiles.
