1.06 - Upgrade Weapons & Spells

Withering Rooms 1.06

New Features

Melee weapons, guns, and spells can now be permanently upgraded using the new Weapon Upgrade Kit and Arcane Salts items. Each upgrade makes the item permanent and adds more base damage, up to +3. These upgrades are distributed throughout Chapter 3 & 4.

The Organ Chamber and Labyrinth Organ Chamber now only let you level up 5 times in Chapter 2. In Chapter 3 & 4, you can find schematics that let you level up additional times.

- Purchase the Organ Chamber schematic in Nowhere starting in Chapter 3
- Find the Labyrinth Organ Chamber schematic in the western Cave area starting in Chapter 3.
- Find the Advanced Organ Chamber schematic in the church passage starting in Chapter 4.

This means the maximum level you can reach in non-NG+ Chapter 4 has increased from 40->45.

Added a new item, the Safe Room Twig, which can be found starting in Chapter 2. Snap it to turn any smaller room into a safe room for 30 seconds.

Polish

- Walls, doors and barricades now play FX/sounds when struck or shot.
- Tall enemies, such as the Big Wretch, duck their heads when going through doors.
- The appearance of doors in the Attic and Basement in all chapters have been improved.

Balance Changes

- Randomized Labyrinth rings now cannot generate with multiple similar improvements(i.e. +4 bleeding to melee and +4 poison to melee), and in some cases overly powerful positive and negative effects have been capped to a lower level.
- Enemies proceed through doors much more quickly.
- Doors are marked as "in use" when an enemy is walking through them and cannot be used by Nightingale.
- Enemies are much more aggressive when coming out of doors, in some cases launching surprise attacks.
- Enemies are much more aggressive when waking from paralysis.
- Dafydd(the gun wielding zombie in Chapter 1) has had his behavior adjusted to fire his gun more often but give the player more time to stop him.

Bug Fixes

- Fix an issue where removing items that had negative effects could leave those negative effects in place.
- Fix the "Knife" prize at the prize wheel not making the player bleed.
- Fix an issue where enemy attack cooldowns were fully reset upon seeing the player in some cases.
