FSR3 & DLSS Beta Update

This update adds the following...

1. You can now choose you antialiasing/upscaler of choice in the Video Settings menu. Options are as follows...

  • Off - No Antialiasing at all ːsteamdeadpanː
  • FXAA - fast approximate anti-aliasing
  • SMAA - Subpixel Morphological Anti-aliasing
  • DLAA - Nvidia Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing
  • DLSS Quality - Nvidia Deep Learning Super Sampling
  • DLSS Balanced
  • DLSS Performance
  • DLSS Max Performance
  • FSRAA - AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 Anti Aliasing
  • FSR3 Quality - AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 upscaling
  • FSR3 Balanced
  • FSR3 Performance
  • FSR3 Max Performance

Obviously Nvidia DLAA/DLSS is only available to nVidia users with a suitable GPU. If your GPU doesn't support the selected option it will fallback to SMAA

Don't forget to click save & apply settings when changing AA modes

2. Integrating with DLSS/FSR has meant a change in post processing system for the entire game. This means some effects are either a little different (tracer rounds) or currently unavailable (Night Vision Mode).

I'll have these fixed in the next day or two.

FSR & DLSS Beta Update

1. This update fixes the upscalers so that they actually upscale properly!

Basically the image quality is now as you'd expect with no jagged edges etc.

Game is still hard coded to "FSR3 Balanced" mode.

2. I've also had to tweak the post processing system as I was using a very old one so some of the bloom effects are slightly different, but not by much.

3. Mouse scroll wheel is now also working again for UI elements - however, the mission planning map still doesn't zoom.

4. Fixed a bug with the targeting pod camera when you have a wingman so it now longer messes up your targeting pod or causes fps drops.

5. Set up the cloud shadow, rain and other weather systems. Nothing much to see just yet but there will be shortly ːsteamhappyː

FSR & DLSS Beta Update

Managed to get FSR 3 and DLSS v2 working so here's a quick run down of the performance boost.

Resolution: 5140 x 1440p
FPS taken in Unity editor so real world is likely to be higher.

All OFF: 62fps

DLAA: 57fps
DLSS Quality: 82fps
DLSS Balanced: 91fps
DLSS Performance: 99fps
DLSS Ultra Performance: 112fps

FSRAA : 55fps
FSR Quality: 85 fps
FSR Balanced: 93fps
FSR Performance: 102fps
FSR Ultra Performance: 121fps

DLSS Quality & DLSS Balanced modes are pretty much just free performance. I'm hard pushed to see any graphical quality loss unless I really zoom in.

FSR Balanced definitely has some fuzziness to it which is more noticeable on foliage. FSR Quality seems good thought but still not quite as good as DLSS Quality.

Anyway - I'll have a full update tomorrow so you can switch between modes. In the mean time the beta is set to FSR 3 Balanced mode so everyone can enjoy some extra fps!!

infantry Beta Update

This update adds the following...

1. In the Control Settings menu there is now a drop down with 4 different presets for the flight model. They should be fairly obvious what they do. Setting the drop down to "Custom" will allow you to tweak the various sliders as you see fit.

Changing the flight model is also possible mid-mission so feel free to try them all out till you find one to your liking!

2. Soldiers are now damaged by blastzones correctly and can be sent flying by artillery shells!

3. All weapons have had their blastzones adjusted so that they damage infantry as you'd expect.

4. Added a bindable button for toggling the parking brakes directly.

5. Added a heat blur effect to the engine exhausts on all helicopters. This is something I've been wanting to do for a while but could never get it to work properly. Happy to say it now works as I wanted it to.

Heat blur is more visible at slow/hover speeds. As you get faster the heat blur effect will get less simulating the faster air flow. At around 90kts you probably won't be able to see it anymore.

6. Rebalanced all tail rotors so that helicopters, when at hover speeds, now rotate in a fairly flat plane rather than banking and destabilising the hover.

When in forward motion you will still see some banking - this it true to life and is a secondary effect of rudder/tail rotors control surfaces.

Work in Progress : CH-47 Chinook

Some early preview images of the Chinook model that is currently in progress. Initially this will be a dedicated transport helicopter but will eventually have armed versions as well as door gunners.
