Patch 1.02d

[p]This update resolves several major release issues and improves overall stability. Thank you to everyone who has played our game — and special thanks to those who reported bugs in-game or on Discord, and shared logs and save files to help us track down difficult issues. We appreciate your patience. Our two-person dev team is working hard to fix the problems preventing some of you from enjoying the game fully. [/p][p][/p]
Major Fixes
• [p]Missing Card Descriptions
Fixed a critical issue where card descriptions disappeared, even after restarting or verifying game files.
[/p]
• [p]Content Loading Stability
Addressed a complex underlying issue with how the game loads and links its data.
This bug caused unpredictable behavior across multiple systems — from disappearing text to broken interactions.
The loading process has been rebuilt to ensure more consistent startup and prevent cascading errors.

[/p]
• [p]Murder Mystery Logic
Fixed issues related to the murder mystery that could prevent players from seeing the result cutscene or caused rewards to appear out of order.
[/p]
Improvements
• [p]Tutorial Flow
Fixed an unintended focus change during the Syndrome tutorial that redirected players back to the catalogue too early.
[/p]
• [p]Ego Region Visibility
Fixed a display issue that prevented the Ego region from appearing correctly in the player’s diary.
[/p]
• [p]Shop and Upgrades
Fixed missing upgrade cards and corrected money factor for proper rewards.
[/p]
• [p]Save System
Deleting a save game now correctly removes checkpoint data.
[/p]
• [p]Dialogue and Timing
Adjusted several dialogues for smoother pacing and consistency.
[/p]
Note
[p]We continue to monitor reports of soft locks — cases where the game remains playable but cannot progress — and missing text.
If you encounter issues, please share your save file and report it in the Discord bug channel.[/p]

Patch Notes 1.01a

Dear Doctors,

Thank you for your support. We were inspired by all the encouraging messages and comments.

We appreciate all your feedback, reports, and save files. Based on what we've seen since launch, we've made a key change to improve stability and reduce the chances of getting stuck in critical campaign sequences.
Core Update
• Removed the autosave from the office table.
• Campaign save points now occur in the player’s room, not at the table.
• This significantly reduces soft locks and allows better error recovery.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a crash when an experimental card attempted to hit more targets than it should.
• Fixed an issue where localized card descriptions could disappear on slower systems.
• Fixed a bug where Endless Mode remained active even after being deselected.
• Fixed an issue in Endless Mode where the Janitor’s drop station shutters would remain closed.
• Fixed a bug preventing the menu from opening with the Start button on Steam Deck.
• Fixed lingering shop cards that remained visible after purchase in rare cases.
• Improved logging for better failure detection in player reports.
UI & UX Polish
• Improved mouse cursor detection on UI elements and buttons.
• Polished Save Game selection and load UI for better clarity.
• Slightly increased card scale on hover for improved readability.
Known Issues (Planned for Next Patch)
• Japanese localization may cause text overlap with handwritten story fragment assets.
• Syndrome Catalogue tutorial window can reopen the catalogue due to overlap.
• Some players report being stuck in Ward 3 after accusing the wrong patient.
• Repeated use of the onscreen keyboard on Steam Deck during name entry may cause a crash.

We're continuing to monitor your feedback and are working on additional fixes and quality-of-life improvements. Thanks for helping us improve Sanatorium.
