Update 3.4 - Game Watch

Greetings Subjects,

We’re excited to share our new 3.4 release, packed with new features driven by your feedback.
Introducing Game Watch (Beta)
We’re dedicated to making your gaming experience not only thrilling but also positive and respectful. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Game Watch, a new beta feature that responds to in-game reports by monitoring voice chat in matchmade games and moderating it in real-time.

Game Watch listens to in-game voice chat, and, if you report a player, will immediately analyse what they have said. Using state-of-the-art AI, it will issue each player with a “toxicity score”, and in some cases it will mute certain toxic players for the rest of that game. All reports will then be reviewed by our moderators, who will now have easy access to full transcriptions and a toxicity summary for all reports.

We believe a welcoming community enhances the experience for everyone, and it’s one of the most common areas of feedback we receive. Game Watch is a big step towards this goal. We look forward to receiving your feedback as we continue to review and refine this new system.
Audio Normalisation
To ensure a more balanced audio experience, we’ve added a Voice Normalisation setting. This feature, enabled by default, equalises player volumes so everyone can be heard clearly without any adjustments on your end.
Cosmetic Equipping
Express yourself with more variety! You can now equip multiple human, terror, and item skins at once. At the start of each game, one of your equipped cosmetics will be randomly selected, keeping your look fresh and unpredictable.
Terror/Curse Purchasing
We’re also introducing in-game purchases for Terrors & Curses. You can now buy DLC Terrors and Curses directly from the in-game store for 400 and 300 shillings, respectively, adding more ways to gain access to content.
Game Menu
You may notice some small changes to the game menu, such as larger fonts and controller navigation changes. These are a work-in-progress, so expect to see some larger changes in Season 4.

Update 3.3 - Introducing the Friends System

Greetings Subjects, we're thrilled to announce a number of additions and improvements this week driven by your feedback!
Introducing the Friends System
We’ve heard you loud and clear. You can now add and invite your friends directly within the game. This new feature allows you to seamlessly connect with your friends (or enemies!) in the game, whatever platform you are all playing the game on.
Final Showdown
We are continuously evaluating the Final Showdown based on player feedback and game data. We know this feature has mixed feedback – it’s difficult to balance social deduction and action gameplay. For example, triggering the showdown only at 3 players creates entirely unplayable game states.

We are focused on developing comprehensive solutions that address all game state scenarios. Here are some of the ways we’ve improved the overall gameplay around the Final Showdown this update:

 • Suspicion-Based Colour Coding: Player outlines are now colour-coded based on the suspicion system, allowing you to quickly identify friend from foe.
 • Yellow Outlines: Non-player outlines and your own decoy are now outlined in yellow, making it easier to distinguish important elements during intense moments.
 • Bug Fix: The Final Showdown now always triggers only when exactly four players remain, addressing an issue last patch with premature activation.
Spectator UI Improvements
For those who have been banished from the ritual, keeping up with the game's progression is now easier than ever. We’ve updated the spectator interface to provide a more immersive and informative viewing experience, allowing you to stay engaged with the action from the sidelines.
Blackthorne Manor Improvements
With the introduction of a new painting task, Blackthorne Manor has reached a pivotal milestone, marking its transition out of Early Access! The butler has also received animation improvements, UI enhancements, and new sound effects.
Miscellaneous Improvements
In addition to this, we've made several technical upgrades to elevate your gameplay experience:

 • Unreal Engine Upgrade: We’ve transitioned to Unreal Engine 5.4.3, bringing various bug fixes and optimisations to the game.
 • NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation: PC players with 4000 series cards can now benefit from enhanced settings, offering smoother and more responsive gameplay.
 • Optimisation: We have continued to optimise our maps, with some ongoing improvements rolling out with this patch.
 • Character Voice Lines: We've begun to enrich the in-game experience with dynamic character voice lines, triggered by various in-game events, to deepen the immersion and storytelling.
Balancing Adjustments
We've made several balancing adjustments to enhance gameplay:

 • The Vampire's bat sanity drain has been reduced from 20% to 15%, creating a fairer experience for all players.
 • Additionally, we've reworked the player respawn logic to ensure more consistent distribution across the map.
Patch Notes

Features
• The main menu now has a friends list - players can add and invite each other in-game.
 • Various in-game events now trigger character voice lines to play.
 • We’ve upgraded from Unreal Engine 5.4.1 to 5.4.3 - this primarily includes various bug fixes and optimisations.
 • NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation Reflex has been implemented as settings for PC players with 4000 series cards.
 • A new painting task has been added to the Manor, with this addition, Blackthorne Manor is now out of early access.
 • The spectator UI has had an overhaul - making it easier to track what is going on after you’ve been eliminated.
Improvements
• The butler on the manor has had his animations improved, UI improved, and sound effects implemented.
 • Some small lighting improvements have been made on Wurgen.

 • [FIXED] Players can become invincible by using the Confession Booth.
 • [FIXED] The butler can spawn in different locations for each player.

Update 3.1 - The Confession Booth

Greetings Subjects,

We're excited to share the latest updates for our new map, Blackthorne Manor, as we continue to refine it during Early Access. Your invaluable feedback has been instrumental in shaping these improvements, and we can't wait for you to experience the enhancements we've made.
Introducing the Confession Booth
With each new Ritual Site comes a unique Inspection Mechanic to work out the intentions of other Subjects. With the update of Blackthorne Manor, we're excited to introduce: The Confession Booth.

Like all Inspection Mechanics, the Confession Booth will open when you leave the Inbetween for the first time. Two willing Subjects can enter, and their next choice may sway the outcome of the Ritual.

Once inside, you and the other Subject are secluded from the rest of the group. You will only be able to hear each other and must now make a critical decision: to Confess or Condemn!

 • Confess: If both Subjects choose to Confess, you'll learn which Team the other Subject is on.
 • Condemn: If both Subjects choose to Condemn, they will be instantly Banished from the Ritual. If one Subject chooses to Condemn and the other Subject does not, only the Condemned will be Banished from the Ritual.

The Confession Booth is a great way to confirm someone's innocence, but beware - paranoia can cloud your judgement. So, when the time comes for you to step into the Confession Booth, will you Confess or Condemn?
Final Showdown Overhaul
In our most recent update, we introduced the 'Final Showdown' phase to create a stronger end-game climax. Based on your feedback, we have been working on a patch to address your concerns and improve the experience.

 • Trigger Mechanism: The Final Showdown will now begin when there are only four players left, rather than being activated by the key.
 • Dynamic Outlines: To enrich strategy and combat, the persistent outlines will now pulse periodically, offering a more dynamic and fair experience during the showdown.
 • Curse Adjustments: The Cursed will no longer block progress to the final Inbetween stage, except for The Chemist if they have fulfilled their Curse conditions. This adjustment ensures smoother and more balanced progression for all players.

We will continue to monitor the live game, gather data, and listen to player feedback to determine if further adjustments are needed. Thank you for your continued feedback and support!
Task Improvements
We've added four exciting new tasks to enhance your gameplay: Seagulls, Bells, Feed the Horse, and Coffins. These additions bring fresh challenges and opportunities for strategic play.

Furthermore, we've made improvements to existing tasks across the Manor:

 • Various small enhancements have been made to the graveyard and cooking tasks.
 • The alert waypoint for the butler task is now more visible, improving tracking efficiency.
 • Updated materials for the bookcase task provide better visuals.
 • Enhanced camera transitions for temporary tasks ensure a smoother experience.
 • The gas lamp task boasts a new mesh and material for a revitalised look.
 • Reactivation capability for graveyard and bookshelf tasks adds depth and replayability.
Other Improvements
• Blood altars in the great hall and courtyard have been repositioned for improved balance.
 • Various map exploits have been fixed.

These updates, coupled with visual enhancements throughout the Manor, aim to enrich your overall immersion and enjoyment in Blackthorne Manor.
