Finally, an online game shutting down the right way: Islands of Insight will close servers next month and 'permanently modify the game to be offline-only' so the promising puzzler can live on

Islands of Insight | What's Next

Update Oct. 30: Islands of Insight is now offline-only.

Seekers, our final Islands of Insight update will arrive on October 30, 2024, which will permanently modify the game to be offline-only. This will allow Islands of Insight to live on for all Seekers to find and enjoy, while we focus our efforts onto our next projects.

For what to expect, here is what you need to know:

The online servers will officially shutdown on October 30, 2024
Any online progression that is not transferred before October 30 will be lost
There are no plans for more content to support the offline version
All the online features will no longer be available
Puzzles will continue to respawn throughout all zones
There will be no bug fixes/balance changes with the final update, however we are reducing the frequency of player position saving in response to community feedback about SSD wear and potential file corruption.

How to transfer your progression:

Launch the game, and choose Play Online
In the main menu, select Account and Click on Download Gameplay Progress
A confirmation popup will appear: Click on Download Progress to start the download
After a few seconds, confirmation that the download was successful will appear and you are all done
Exit the game, and start it again, but this time select Play Offline to continue playing your own progression.

**Additional note: if you had already previously downloaded progression, the button will display “Override Progress” instead. You can decide if you want to replace it with your current online progression or not.

Islands of Insight | Offline Mode Available Now!

Seekers, it is here. Our Offline Mode is live now!

We are happy to expand our play experience and provide more players with the opportunity to join us in the islands and solve beautiful puzzles.

For what to expect, we covered the details in our previous post, but in case you missed it, here are the highlights:

You no longer need to be tethered to an internet connection to play the game
The world is still brimming with puzzles and has the same biomes. Puzzles will also respawn, and you will be able to do daily quests
Any social / online functionality, like emoting or pinging other players will not be available in this mode
Content has been balanced, modified or removed to fit with the single player experience

[h2]Update 1.2.6 Patch Notes[/h2]

[h3]Bug Fixes:[/h3]

Party invite button, which can currently be found in your Friend menu while playing, is fixed.
Hidden Pentad shrinking bubble upgrade now works as intended.
Players will no longer experience any soft locks when using Fast Travel.
Issue with Enclaves losing progression is fixed.
Archipelago of Curiosity objectives will now all appear in the Quest Log as intended.
Quest log will now reflect remaining amount of puzzles to solve for multiple Enclaves that had been missing
Additional graphical and performance improvements.

[h3]Known Issues:[/h3]

Eye of the Needle enclave primary goal grants two Mirabilis’ at once.
Map markers may cause solid collisions on some puzzles
Gather No Moss – Multiple Rolling Block puzzles in the location do not zoom in correctly when using ultrawide screen.
A Party leader is unable to disband the party by leaving it from the Pause Menu.

The following bugs only impact the Demo version of IOI:
After downloading save file and switching from Online to Offline on the Demo, Question For Perfection challenge is not marked as complete
Two for One - Challenge cannot be completed due to lack of puzzles

Gorgeous puzzle game Islands of Insight soars amid free Steam giveaway

It's tough to beat the joy of claiming a good free Steam game, and if you're quick you might be able to do just that, as beautiful puzzle game Islands of Insight celebrates the news of its much-requested offline mode with a free game giveaway. Reminiscent of The Witness, this multiplayer open-world game is available to claim free on Steam for just 24 hours, and it's already seen the game's player count rise dramatically on the Valve platform.

Islands of Insight | Offline Mode Release Date

Seekers, we are so happy to announce that our Offline Mode will be released on July 9!

This addition provides you, our dedicated players, and new players with more flexibility in how you enjoy the islands and our beautiful puzzles.

Play Anywhere‍

With our Offline Mode, you no longer need to be tethered to an internet connection. You can experience Islands of Insight without worrying about unreliable connection and delays.

A Mode Brimming With Puzzles

Our offline mode is brimming with puzzles. The mode has the same biomes and puzzles quantity and diversity as the online version. Puzzles will also respawn, and you will be able to do daily quests.

What to Expect‍

Our goal is to have a similar experience between the online mode and the offline version. It's important to understand that any social / online functionality, like emoting or pinging other players will not be available in this mode. With this mode being exclusively available in single player, some content has been balanced, modified or removed.

If you have been playing the game online, and want to switch to offline, don’t worry, you will be able to save your progression and transfer it over to Offline Mode.

One last thing. The base game is available for FREE (to keep forever!) for 24 hours – so until tomorrow, June 27 at 1pm ET. This is your sign to join other Seekers and get your puzzle-solving on.
