Cloud saves, quality improvements, Steam Deck resolution (v0.6.4)

a new update is now available!

Update to v0.6.4:
  • Steam cloud saves are now available
  • Improved shadow quality of all graphic settings
  • Balanced shadow adjustments for different graphic settings
  • Shadows are now available even with the lowest setting
  • Shadows are now starting from a much greater distance (little to no performance impact)
  • Added fitting resolution for Steam Deck (1280x800)
  • Adjusted menus and user interfaces for the Steam Deck resolution
  • New textures for the appearance of sand underwater
  • Fixed that the description of savegames gets lost after the second save

Custom chest names, savegame additions, performance updates and more (v0.6.3)

Survivors,

a new update is now available!

One of the most notable changes will be the new ability to control the volumetric fog setting. While the old menu only allowed to turn the volumetric fog on or off and then be controlled together with the shadow settings, the new one allows for a more custom control, which may give you a huge performance or quality increase.

The old 'On' setting of the volumetric fog now equals the new 'Epic' setting. Switching the quality to 'High' or even 'Low' can improve the frames per second significantly without much quality loss or with the beauty of volumetric fog at all, instead of being forced to turn it off.


Furthermore, you may now save your game per steam user but feel encouraged to try it out first with a not so important savegame file you try to overwrite, just in case (you should see the last saved games at first before you overwrite it with a user specific file).


Update to v0.6.3:
  • Chests can now be renamed
  • The name of a renamed chest will now appear on the HUD when looking at it
  • Savegames should now be possible per Steam user (test first)
  • Added a short custom description field for savegames
  • Added a quality control setting for volumetric fog (the old 'on' setting equals the new 'Epic' setting, changing the setting to 'High' or even 'Low' can give a huge performance boost without much quality loss)
  • Removed the volumetric fog on/off checkbox
  • Ported the game to a newer engine version
  • Added plank stairs (for the pier but do also snap on regular foundations)
  • Stick ladders and brick stairs now snap onto piers
  • New idle animation
  • New walk animation
  • New run animation
  • Adjusted show watch animation
  • Crafting and building menus now display an indication of the current subcategory that is selected
  • Increased chance for meteorites to spawn iron instead of stone
  • Fixed that sails could not be placed on a Sailboat P.2 when too near at the water
  • Fixed some spelling mistakes

Roof turning, watch interface updates, commands and QoL improvements (v0.6.2)

a new update is now available!

Update to v0.6.2:
  • Roof building elements can now be rotated 180 degrees while building
  • Foundation building placeholders will now snap to each other (for easier planning of the first floor before investing resources)
  • 90 degree turnings of snapped building elements happen faster
  • Added skill icons to the second watch interface
  • Changed the layout of the second watch interface
  • Added a 'security clearance' indicator on the second watch interface (the possibility to reach a higher security clearance will come with future updates and more story elements)
  • Slightly increased the size of the watch interface
  • Changed multiple shader settings for the watch interface
  • Added an underwater distortion effect
  • Changed the layout of the loading screen
  • Added a new loading symbol for the loading screen
  • Improved some draw distance settings for the lights of torches and campfires for increased performance

  • Added a chat box and possibility to use certain commands (intended only for specific problems)


How to use commands in game:
The chat box can be toggled with 'Ctrl + T' You will need to enter '/commands true' to the chat box to activate commands for this session.
Be aware that the use of commands is only intended for game breaking problems or the loss of a savegame when you don't want to start with nothing all over again.
The use of commands may ruin the game when used without need!
Type '/help' to receive a list of possible commands


New Horizon Games

Air tank refill, new loot items, note translations (v0.6.1)

Survivors,

a new update is now available!
Provided you have electricity and found some of the new loot items, you can now build a special refill station for air tanks. This will allow you to do longer diving trips again and again without having to swim back to the surface so often. With some of the coming updates featuring more underwater life and exploration, this will also become more and more important!

The notes you can find in the game are intended to be a little difficult to read and look weathered but if you have a hard time with it or just need to read it in your appropriate language, you can now click the 'Read' button to show you the text of this note in your selected language.

Also, a lot of preparations are currently in full speed for future updates like the accessible wracks, underwater exploration and Co-op!

  • Added air tank refill station (needs electricity)

  • Added a read option to notes (this will then show the text of the note in your selected language)

  • Fixed a problem where the HUD / Inventory shows wrong key's for certain actions
  • Updated some wrecks of the Horizon 7

  • Added wreck door and control sound effects
  • Changed the save and reload function of single loot items in the world to spawn the loot of new, with updates added, items without the need of starting a new game but will only appear after the savegame file has been loaded with the new game version, saved once and then reloaded again (this function will cause some loot to reappear, or to be doubled, in your already existing game)
