Hello Survivors,

a new patch is now available.

  • Fixed gamepad compatibility with the new inventory layout
  • Inventory and chest menu's show the action info texts now according to the use of a gamepad or keyboard
  • Air tanks can now be equipped using a gamepad

Hello Survivors,

a new patch is now available.

  • Fixed a problem where the reload with an already equipped toolbelt from an earlier game version still shows the old amount of available slots and in a wrong layout
  • Rearranged some breakable rocks and iron ores on the island by 58°N, 23°E

Inventory update now available! (v0.6.0)

Greetings Survivors,

the second big update is now available! This update focuses mostly on an improved inventory with a new look & layout, more functionality, increased size, stack movement, more informations about items & buildings and more.

Furthermore, you may as well find and use air tanks now! These air tanks can be equipped in a special slot inside the inventory (just like your toolbelt), to increase the time you can stay underwater, but only until the tank runs empty.

And also, even when you don't see much of the character you're playing, the mesh (or look) of this character was still from a very early stage of the game and received an update too!

Update to v0.6.0:
  • New inventory layout (the main inventory is now on the top left and the quick slots on the bottom center)
  • New chest layout
  • Increased max. stack size of every stackable item (approximately ~50% increase per item type)
  • Increased additional inventory slots when wearing a toolbelt (now +5 slots instead of +2)
  • Whole stacks can now be transferred from the inventory to a chest and the other way around using 'shift + LMB' (Left Mouse Button)
  • Consumables can now be used with 'RMB' (Right Mouse Button)
  • Added possible actions info texts on the bottom left in the inventory and chest menu's
  • Added new weight system to the player (if the player is over encumbered, the movement speed and jump height decreases)
  • The possible weight a player may carry increases with every 'Strength' level
  • An equipped toolbelt increases the max. weight that a player can carry by 5kg
  • Added multiple air tanks that can be found around the world
  • Added an air tank slot to the inventory (if an air tank is equipped, the player will use this oxygen first)
  • Added air tank sounds for equipping, unequipping and diving
  • Added an air tank indicator symbol that shows when the oxygen of an air tank is being used, when diving
  • Items inside the inventory and quick slots can now be clicked on, to show the weight of this item / stack, the remaining durability and a short description
  • Changed the layout of the crafting and building buttons and their needed resources
  • Most crafting and building buttons now show a small description
  • Updated some textures of the inventory
  • Fixed a problem where brick floors can't be placed over a shelf
  • New player mesh (the player character looks different now)

Under A New Sun - Current Roadmap

Greetings Survivors!

As a lot of you are eager to know where Under A New Sun is heading, here is the current roadmap, featuring multiple additions, changes and updates that are either already in work or planned for the near future.

Keep in mind that some points may change over time with further development and that the order listed below does not necessarily mean that the updates will take place in this exact order nor that there won't be more additions than currently listed. And as always, any suggestions and feedback is very welcome!

Roadmap:
  • Reworked inventory: layout and graphics overhaul, stack movement, increased inventory space, weight system, more information of items and buildings (scheduled for March 1st)

  • Story: more things to explore, more elements that tell what happened on the Horizon 7, accessible wrecks, more special items to find, drone & robot variations, etc. (this point will not be included in a single update but happen over time together with other updates)

  • Improved gameplay: introducing new gameplay systems to give the game more depth and difficulties (E.g. stamina, temperature, sleep / insomnia, comfort, etc.), more in-game information to various gameplay mechanics, items and buildings

  • Underwater environment: coral reefs, seashells and other animals (also as food source), diving equipment, underwater wrecks to explore, harvestable resources

  • Sailing ship: a bigger wooden sailing ship that can store multiple chests and serve as a possible base for the player (means the ability to sleep, save, cook food, etc.), ship customizations, optional electrical motor

  • More advanced tech / electrical stuff: various kinds of electric devices and machinery

  • Islands / map expansion: more islands in various sizes with new things to explore

  • Biodiversity: new biome types like mangroves, coral reefs or rainforests (together with 'more islands / map expansion'), more kinds of plants and wildlife in general

  • Gardening: plant and harvest a variation of crops, findable seeds of plants that are otherwise not present in the wild

  • Archery: more arrow and bow variations

  • Plank buildings: ability to build a house in a plank style variation

  • Female player: choose if you want to play as a male or female character

  • Co-op beta tests: first tests for an online Co-op mode to play with your friends

Hotfix Patch

Hello Survivors,

a new patch is now available.

  • Changed more buildable objects to use the new placeholder system
  • Fixed that some buildings could be placed on top of building placeholders
  • Needed resource counters for buildings using the new placeholder system will now also show up in red, if not enough resources are in the inventory to finish it (the placeholder can be placed regardless)
  • Fixed that Save Slot 2 could not be used inside the save menu after the last update
  • Fixed that breaking a fire inside some other objects will drop no resources
  • Fixed that breaking a coal oven returns no resources
  • Fixed some spellings
  • Fixed that the time inside the game stops when reaching day ~250 (the new limit is beyond day 500.000)
