Leaderboards Reset + ORKTOBER Is Coming

[h3]ORKTOBER IS COMIN'![/h3][p]"Wotz da big guff, ya git?" [/p][p]Orktober is when we start dropping details about our massive update coming for Warhammer Day in late October🤘[/p][p]Stuff like:[/p]

[p]This will probably be the game's biggest update yet, and will mark a time where Speed Freeks is the bestest, most greenest, most Orkiest game that ever Orked - and will be the best version so far.[/p][p]We're really excited to get it into your hands, and not just saying that as a standard PR thing, we really want to see what people do with the Creation Tools. There's already some pretty wild community made Kustom Rally races out there and we've only had a handful of people engage with it.[/p][p]Once you'z get the real tools, it will open up a wealth of possibilities. Like we mentioned last time, this is the first Warhammer game ever to have level building tools like this. MAKE GORK N' MORK PROUD, LADZ![/p][p][/p][h3]LEADERBOARDS[/h3][p]It's been a long time coming, but the issues with posting scores to the leaderboard have now finally been addressed, and the leaderboards have bee fully reset, so now the records on there will hopefully be more accurate moving forwards. Plus, this gives all players the chance to get their name up high on the boards now ːsteamthumbsupː[/p][p]We wanted to do this work a while ago, but it needed to sync up with some backend data stuff that has just been finished (multiplayer games be hard, y'all), so now that it's done we can have lasting leaderboards.[/p][p]if you still notice issues though, please mention to us and we'll get onto addressing them[/p][p][/p][p][/p]

New Race Mode 🏁 + Level Editor Coming

[p]This is an exciting time for Speed Freeks, because we're on the verge of releasing some level editing tools that will allow you to place structures, platforms, ramps, jump pads, decorations, VFX, etc in maps and then run races through them.[/p][p]Races will be played through the new Kustom Rally mode, either solo or multiplayer 🏁[/p][p]It's gonna be so cool 🤘[/p][p][/p][p]You'll have assets like these to build whatever you want, races up towers, through obstacle courses, off huge jumps, etc. All decorated the way you think an Ork like you would do it![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You can imagine the uniqueness and creativity will be so much higher, and we're so pumped to see what you gits come up with 💪[/p][p]We'll be adding our own creations to the game as well to be installed with the Creation Tools patch.[/p][p][/p][p]And as far as we know, Speed Freeks will be the first Warhammer 40,000 game to include level editing tools like this where you can build custom structures and things from scratch. Very Orky :)[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Before jumping into the rest of this blog, we thought it would be right to address the big squig in the room - which is that the game has a player count problem. We're well aware that there's not as many gits ingame these days as we would have hoped, and we're working to remedy that fact with enticing new content, as well as promotional pushes where we can.[/p][p][/p][p]To those of you who are just joining us now, or have stuck with the game through even a fraction of its development, we thank you so much for krumping with us. [/p][p]This patch comes with some developer-created courses included, but you can also share/download races here in the[/p][p] Steam Discussion Thread or on the SF Discord in the #kustom-races channel. See the pinned posts for instructions 📌[/p][p]We're currently working on cloud integration to allow easy uploading, browsing, and sharing of community creations with ease, so that's something to look forward to as well![/p][p][/p][h3]CREATION MODE 🛠️ (BETA) [/h3][p]As mentioned, we'll soon be introducing level building tools to the game that will allow players a ton of creativity in making stuff. [/p][p]In the meantime, we've still got the same functionality as before with Free Roam, except we've renamed the mode to Creation Mode as it's more fitting. Keep an eye on this mode for juicy updates 👌[/p][p]Here's some bug fixes to the mode as well:[/p]
  • [p]We've added a distance marker to the active waypoint for better communication.[/p]
  • [p]When playing custom races, the subsequent waypoint preview now has a different icon in addition to being yellow instead of green, and the finish line waypoint is now red.[/p]
  • [p]There is now a finish line and a start gate, and player movement and abilities are frozen until the race starts.[/p]
[p]Once the adding creation tools are in the game, we'll continue to improve them for more functionality and customization. Super pumped about this feature![/p][p][/p][h3]MODIFIERS ☣️[/h3][p]These used to be part of early access as limited time modes, but now players can enable them when creating a new lobby.[/p][p]It's surprising how much they can change the feel of a match ːsteamthumbsupː[/p][p][/p][p]Here's the available mutators:[/p]

Network Sync + Hit-Reg Improvements

Fixes, Vehicle Balance & More

[p]We've got a quick one for ya about the latest patch. This one focuses on balance changes mostly, but this is pretty significant, plus there's many other things done to help improve the game.   • [p]Speed required to drift is reduced, partially to make entering a drift more consistent[/p]
  • [p]Health for most vehicles increased. See notes below:[/p]
[p]With hit registration improvements, Time-To-Kill has been reduced because players deal damage more consistently. We've universally increased health values to bring the TTK closer to where it was before the hit reg improvements. [/p]
  • [p]Range for most weapons increased. Minimum damage dealt (at new max range listed) is now 33%. Initial falloff distance for all weapons was not changed.[/p]
[p]The intent of the range change is to improve the feel of the game (less disappearing bullets) without actually disrupting balance too much[/p]
  • [p]You can no longer target invisible vehicles with lock-on weapons[/p]
  • [p]Vehicles should no longer miss-fire sometimes when trying to use an ability right when the cooldown ends.[/p]
[p]TANKS[/p]
  • [p]Tanks can now drift - cause why not?[/p]
[p]DEFFKILLA WARTRIKE[/p]
  • [p]Health increased to 120 (from 100, +20%)[/p]
  • [p]Twin Boomsticks vertical spread increased to 2 (from 0.5), horizontal increased to 4 (from 1.5)[/p]
[p]The range required to eliminate the disappearing bullets syndrome would have been like 200m, so instead the Boomsticks got some more spread to make the current range look more natural.[/p]
[p]BOOMDAKKA SNAZZWAGON[/p]
  • [p]Health increased to 140 (from 120, +16%) [/p]
  • [p]Mek Speshul max range increased to 120m (from 100m)[/p]
  • [p]Mek Speshul Burst max range increased to 150m (from 125m)[/p]
[p]GROT MEGA TANK[/p]
  • [p]Health increased to 260 (from 230, +13%)[/p]
  • [p]Drifting added[/p]
  • [p]Plow no longer requires targets to be grounded[/p]
[p]This was a long-standing bug and removing it makes the plow much more consistent.[/p]
  • [p]Grotzooka max range increased to 125m (from 100m)[/p]

[p]KUSTOM BOOSTA-BLASTA[/p]
[p]The KBB did not receive a health increase. It now has the same amount of health as the Wartrike due to their similarly powerful mobility.[/p]
  • [p]Can now control jump height by holding down the button (this was broken due to a bug)[/p]
  • [p]Rivet Kannon spread increased to 1 (from 0.5), max distance increased to 170 (from 150)[/p]
[p]A mix of spread and range bump for the Rivet Kannon to make the far end of the range look more natural.[/p]
[p]LOOTED WAGON[/p]
  • [p]Health increased to 180 (from 160, +12%)[/p]
  • [p]Can now launch the Grot Bomm in midair[/p]
  • [p]Can now press E while flying the Grot Bomm to return to the Looted Wagon. The GB will continue to fly on its last path[/p]
  • [p]GB damage reduced to 30 (from 40). GB knockback increased by 50%[/p]
[p]To compensate for the buff above, we're trying out a version of the Grot Bomm that is more about disruption (and setting up the pop up > Kannon shot combo) than straight up damage.[/p]
  • [p]You can now steer the Grot Bomm with WASD (or remapped driving inputs), and the analog control is much more sensitive[/p]
  • [p]Kannon knockback reduced by 90%[/p]
  • [p]Dakka max distance increased to 200m (from 150m)[/p]
[p]MEGATRAKK SCRAPJET[/p]
  • [p]Health increased to 140 (from 120 + 16%)[/p]
  • [p]Recoil Rokkit does more recoil on grounded targets[/p]

[p]Unstable Shokk Rifle DPS has been reduced to 21.6 from 24, and holding the mouse button will deal suboptimal DPS compared to timing your volleys, so there is a bit more skill expression and a nerf to simply holding m1.[/p]
[p]TRUKK[/p]
  • [p]Health increased to 180 (from 150, +20%)[/p]
  • [p]Ladders no longer require targets to be grounded[/p]
  • [p]Can now control jump height by holding the button (this was broken due to a bug)[/p]
