GUN KING v0.8 - Open Playtest!

I am happy to announce the first ever open playtest of GUN KING!

About the playtest:
This is mainly to give people an opportunity to try out the game (currently the demo is a bit outdated) and also just to get feedback from players. The playtest will run from now till 31 May 2024. I will be doing my best to fix any bugs and make improvements throughout the playtest.

NEW FEATURES

- 5 New enemy types added.
- 4 New upgrade trees (16 total upgrades).
- 1 New upgrade tree for each weapon.
- New gun mod system (replacing the old parts system) and several new mods to experiment with.
- New wave based game mode.
- Various bug fixes / performance improvements.
- Some graphical improvements (new color palette for entire game, shaders, etc.).
- Added support for color blindness correction (Protanopia, Deuteranopia, and Tritanopia).
- New pixel font by Poppy Works (more language support will be coming). The current playtest is only in English.

State of the Game

I wanted to do a post just to update everyone on the current state of the game and how things are progressing.

Currently still working on the next major update (v0.9), which unfortunately I don't have an exact date as of now. At the bottom of this post I will include patch notes for what is currently done and what is planned.

I've also been working simultaneously on console versions for Gun King. I don't have any official announcements yet, but likely will be officially announcing it as we approach v1.0 release.

Just to be clear there is no patch yet unfortunately, but here is the work in progress patch notes.

UPCOMING PATCH v0.9

DONE:
- 5 New enemy types added.

- Various bug fixes.

PLANNED / CURRENTLY WORKING ON:
- Several upgrade trees.

- 13 new achievements (possibly more).
- Testing and balancing.

PATCH version 0.6.1.3 is now live!

PATCH 0.6.1.3

Just want to say thank you again for all the support and providing feedback / bug reports. This patch should resolve all the current issues reported that caused a crash. Most of the issues were all related in some way and hopefully this should resolve all those issues.

FIXES / CHANGES:
- Fixed an issue that caused a crash with error "obj_hud: Cannot compare unset variables".
- Fixed an issue where some hit from the chain lightning gun was displaying the incorrect color for non-crits.
- Fixed several issues with crits displaying the incorrect color.
- Fixed an issue where elemental damage from parts wasn't applying correctly to poison and burn damage.
- Fixed an issue with input icons misaligned in parts and pause menu.
- Fixed a few issues related to certain achievements potentially not unlocking.

There will be about a month or so before the next big update as I work on more content (enemy variety, upgrades, etc). Just wanted to give everyone a heads up so you don't think that I've abandoned it or anything. Unless there is any game breaking bugs / crashes, which I will of course address immediately. As always thank you for all the support.

BALANCE:
- Added a cooldown to freeze (3 seconds for normal enemies, 6 seconds for boss enemies).

FIXES / CHANGES:
- Fixed an issue that caused certain guns to infinitely reload in combination with some parts.

Small hotfix to address a few issues causing a crash and bug resulting in you dealing zero damage.

- Fixed an issue that caused a crash when using "ROYAL PIECE" upgrade with turret.
- Fixed an issue resulting in you dealing zero damage when using the weapon throw with the upgrade "GAMBIT".
