The Beta Test for the Pagonia Editor & Quality-of-Life Update 0.15.0 Starts Now!

Today we have a treat for you and it's not even Halloween, yet! This is for everyone who loves to get their hands on technical things!⚒️

You probably already guessed it from the title: We just released the Beta of our Pagonia Editor! 🎉It's now possible to create detailed maps with our in-house tools! We also sprinkled some quality-of-life improvements with a couple of gameplay and interface changes on top of this version 0.15.0!

Please read our Beta Disclaimer carefully and find the patch notes down below!

[h2]Beta Disclaimer[/h2]

Please be aware that this is a Beta version for the game and the Pagonia Editor.

We expect the game to leave beta in the usual time frame. Depending on your feedback about the editor and maps that are created with it, we may keep this part of the release in beta for a longer time or release it together with the other parts of the update.

The Map Packages are created by the community, so until the first community maps appear, only a few example test maps from Envision are available. The goal of those maps is to fill the initial selection, they are not balanced and tested.

Please keep in mind that the Pagonia Editor is our in-house tool for creating maps. Therefore, it comes with some technical challenges. Additionally, the Editor has higher hardware requirements than the game itself. In this Beta version you might encounter some performance issues or bugs.

Overall, this is a tool for people who do not shy away when things get technical. But we're confident, that you'll get the hang of it in no time. :)

Create your first maps with the Pagonia Editor! Everyone who owns the Early Access version has access to the Pagonia Editor. You can access it via this path:

C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Pioneers of Pagonia/Editor

Just scroll down to Pagonia Editor.exe

Detailed Patch Notes


[h2]Tutorial Map Beta Version[/h2]
  • New version of the new Tutorial map is available now, we are looking forward to your feedback!

[h2]Gameplay[/h2]
  • Supply locations can now be supplied by the Trading Post, too.
    • Until now, supply locations had to be in the player territory and connected to a road to be supplied by Carriers. Now, deliveries can be done to supply locations outside player territory by using Trade Carriers.
    • As soon as a supply location is discovered, the Trading Post interface will offer an option to supply it with the requested commodities.
    • If the supply location is inside player territory, it can be supplied simultaneously both by carriers using roads and by trade carriers starting at trading posts.
  • Woodcutter: add clear forest option
    • The button to preserve the forest has been visually modified. As before, it is enabled by default and will ensure that Woodcutters only cut large trees to preserve the forest since fully-grown trees initiate new saplings. If disabled, trees of any size will be cut. The default setting can be modified in the options.
    • A new button allows to order the Woodcutters to focus on cutting all trees without collecting any trunks or wood.
  • Hunter: add kill boars option
    • A new button allows to order Hunters of a Hunting Lodge to focus on hunting wild boars without collecting any meat or leather.
  • Baneroots will now reveal themselves if they are still in unexplored areas and attack player units. This ensures that player units can target them, too.
  • Scav bases will now be destroyed if the leftover Scav units are far away.


[h2]Interface[/h2]
  • The Interface for starting a new game has been recreated.
    • New: Scenario map section now offers access to maps created by the community.
      • The sub-section “Discover Maps” will be empty until the first community maps are created and published.
    • All other map options are available as before, but the flow has been improved.
  • The construction interface has been upgraded.
    • We used your feedback to modify the building categories and resorted the building types.
    • The categories got new icons for easier readability.
  • The mini map offers new filters for buildings:
    • All buildings, all territory buildings, all priority buildings, all buildings with yellow and/or red warning flags.
  • Added description to comfort meal tooltip in homes
  • Added tooltips to objective buttons in the Settlement Progression window
  • Fixed Quarry resource highlight not working correctly with disabled recipes
  • New mouse cursor
  • Territory buildings and residence buildings are now grouped when cycling with TAB.


[h2]Visuals[/h2]
  • The Venturer got a visual upgrade
  • Improved readability of rock deposits


[h2]Performance[/h2]
  • The performance of the game, especially in situations where a huge bustling city is on screen, got significantly improved.


[h2]Bugfixes[/h2]
  • Fixed rare crash when navigating in a text field
  • Fixed when canceling focus point placement
  • Fixed crash when jumping to building
  • Fixed rare crash when demolishing building
  • Replaced placeholder icon “Remote delivery”
  • Created missing LODs for all branch deposits
  • Added missing point lights to resource depot
  • Fixed missing point light in Guild Hall

Pioneers of Pagonia – Live Show at Gamescom

[h2]Dear Pioneers,[/h2]

We have exciting news! Pioneers of Pagonia will be part of the Find Your Next Game Show live at Gamescom 2025!



[h2]Find Your Next Game Show[/h2] Our game designer Volker Wertich will be live on stage and answering some highly requested questions about our final sprint to 1.0! Rumor has it you will also get a sneak peek at our story campaign!

You can watch the show live on Wednesday, 20th August at 5:30 pm CEST on the GameStar Twitch Channel. Our slot will be around 7 pm CEST. The show will be in German but will be covered worldwide by several outlets to make it also accessible for non-German speakers.

We are so excited to show you a first glimpse at our campaign! Don't miss the live stream, because we will also have some exciting news to share. Stay tuned!

Also watch out for a new trailer, which will show you more about Pagonia's backstory! It will air during FYNG but also be released on our Envision YouTube Channel on Wednesday, 20th August at 8 pm CEST!

Dev Blog #13: Visit us at Gamescom, Official Wiki Launch and more!

Are you enjoying your summer holidays? Whether you go hiking in real life, are sipping a cool drink at the pool or just relaxing at home, you might have missed what happened in Pagonia. But don’t worry, we got you! Here comes a little throwback about what has happened and what exciting things are about to come!

[h2]Major Economy Update [/h2]
A month ago, we released a Major Economy Update where we reworked the start of the game and introduced a new settlement progression! As many of you have requested, it is now possible to start from scratch with a small landing party.

You can also enjoy a refined gameplay experience including 8 new buildings. Additionally, the Pagonian islands got a visual boost in many areas and got more exciting geography. Who needs a holiday if you can go hiking in the Pagonian mountains, right?

Improved Map Gen. It's now possible to generate maps with steep cliffs and more interesting landscapes!

Thanks to everyone who already played it and sent us positive feedback on changing the start of the game. This was a major task and took a lot of effort, but your positive reactions and comments made it worth it! We truly think that this was the best for the game and players will benefit from it in the future.

It’s that time of the year again, Pioneers! We will showcase Pioneers of Pagonia at Gamescom Cologne! Good things come in threes, or so they say.

Come visit us at the Indie Arena Booth in Hall 10.2! While most of us will stay at our desks and keep working on the game, there are still some members of our dev team at the booth waiting for your visit!

[h2]Our PoP Wiki is finally here! [/h2]
But this is not all! We also launched our official Pioneers of Pagonia Wiki!

This wiki is officially supported by us, the dev team. We already added some basic information as well as original assets and icons from the game. But it’s still a work in progress and a community effort, that’s why we need you!

We won’t always add all content but support you in adding content to the wiki, answer specific questions and more.

Everybody is welcome to edit the wiki page (after you’ve created a free account). Please note that the wiki is in English for now, but if there is enough interest, we intend to set up a German version in the future.

Please note that this wiki will always be a work in progress and subject to change during the development of the game.



[h2]Working on the Campaign [/h2]
And finally, we would like to share some news! We got some support in the writing department from Janika Hoffmann, a German author of Fantasy novels. We are so happy to be working with her on our story-campaign for the 1.0 release!

Janika pays regular visits to our office in Ingelheim, working with our game designer Kian and content designer Samuel on the story and dialogues for the campaign. We cannot show you anything yet, but our Pioneers will embark on an adventurous journey, that’s for sure!
