While Yet Another Zombie Survivors has always run reliably on Steam Deck, there were still a few rough edges here and there - like font sizes not being large enough on smaller display devices. Now, with the adjustments we've made along the way, we're happy to share that as of today...
[/p][p][/p][p]It took some time, but we finally earned that green checkmark, and we want to thank you for your patience and ongoing support! Beyond the improvements that players on handheld devices can immediately enjoy, this also means more people browsing Steam for bullet heaven games will now be able to discover YAZS.[/p][p]Now, onto the elephant in the room...
[/p][hr][/hr][h2]Cloud Save Issues[/h2][hr][/hr][p]As some of you know (or have unfortunately experienced), a number of players have run into issues with Steam Cloud, resulting in rollbacks or even loss of in-game progression. [/p][p]First and foremost: we are truly, deeply sorry. [/p][p]This should never have happened to anyone. Despite not encountering this issue during internal testing, we should have anticipated and prevented it. We take full responsibility for delivering a stable experience, and in this case, we fell short. [/p][p]Over the past three weeks, we’ve been working every single day to investigate every report and make sure no one loses progress ever again. We’re continuing to dig for the root cause, and we won’t stop until this is fully resolved.[/p][p]And yet, we still haven’t fully solved the root cause. That’s on us. [/p][p][/p][hr][/hr][h2]How will we tackle the problem onwards[/h2][hr][/hr][p]While we still haven’t identified the exact underlying issue yet, we do know it’s related to the recently added Run History & Leaderboard Run Details feature.[/p][p]For now, we're temporarily disabling the Leaderboard Run Details system. This will remain as such until we can guarantee that it doesn't break a single person's save files. [/p][p]We also recently added automatic local save game backups - their location is described in the Save Backup Information pinned topic on the forum. These backups will serve as an extra safety net in case something happens with the Steam Cloud in the future.[/p][p] [/p][hr][/hr][h2]We will help you restore your lost progress[/h2][hr][/hr][p]We've already been assisting players who reached out to us. Starting today, we've created a dedicated form you can use to request a save restoration directly from us. Please excuse us while we add some fluff to the game. Here's what's changed:

  • To improve readability on smaller screens, the size of many texts and pop-ups has been increased.
  • HUD Scale (50%-150%) setting was added to the "Interface" tab in the Options menu.
  • Added some additional safeguards against potential save corruption (no amount of it is enough).
  • "Bricklayer" enemy projectiles slowed down by 15% & improved indicator visibility.
  • Added new VFX particles to the game when "Blood and gore" setting is turned off.
  • The game now launches with a 60 FPS cap before it fully loads the limit set by the user.
  • Fix for "Reserve Bench" item not working correctly when equipped with "Gold Medal".
  • Mechanic: Trusty Spanner: Melee range increased slightly.
  • "Privacy Mode" setting moved to the user interface tab in the Options.
  • Fix for gameplay time displaying wrongly on the Save Slot UI.
  • Display & control improvements for Run History interfaces.
  • Other interface-related improvements and tweaks.
  • Fixes for some other minor errors.

About the cloud save issue: if you've played the 0.9.1 version of the game before, are now returning to the game, and have noticed a cloud save error & your account progress being lost, please message us at [email protected] and we'll do our best to help!

Yet Another Update 0.9.1c (HOTFIX)

[h3]Welcome, Survivor![/h3][p]
We're releasing yet another hotfix. The list of changes is as follows:
  • Important fix for the local-cloud save differences. Hopefully fixing the Steam Cloud issue some of you have still experienced (for good this time). Please let us know if any issues still remain.
  • Local (non-cloud) save backups are now created in addition to default ones. This will allow you to recover your progress when you accidentally selected wrong saves at the Cloud Error interface when launching the game. Their location was added to the pinned Save backup information topic.
  • Perfected the Horde time-scaling formula: HP rises faster, DMG rises slower + added a very small movement speed boost happening every 50 Horde levels (late-game Endless/Infinite/One Hit only).
  • Mouse cursor should no longer snap back to the center of the screen when playing in K+M setups.
  • Fix for Gem & Omnigeode items not working correctly.
  • Achievements that required doing something for 10 minutes should now properly unlock in Hardcore mode.
  • Auto-choices now prioritize non-infinite options on Level-up, and Survivors on SOS Signal screens.
  • Additional hotfix for endscreen interfaces to prevent accidental "Try Again" selection.
  • Playtime over 24 hours should now display correctly in Zombiepedia.
  • Some code tweaks and fixes for rogue errors.

Once again, please accept our apologies if your were affected by the Cloud save issues. As such things may happen in Early Access phase, we'll do our utmost for them to not happen ever again.

Keep us updated for any remaining issues. If things return to full stability, we'll start focusing our work on the Update 0.9.2.

We're releasing a hotfix update for version 0.9.1.

[/p][hr][/hr][p]Sorry it take a few days for us to implement the Steam Cloud issue fix. The overall size of our Awesome Games Studio family grew by one member. As such, one of the core devs got stuck in the parenthood. Please, accept our apologies for every single save game issue that some of you have encountered![/p][hr][/hr][p]
Here's the list of changes:[/p]
  • [p]Added "Privacy Mode" which hides your real Steam account name in the in-game menus.

  • [p]New indicator icon added for the "Pills" item active effect (when Healhpak is collected).
    [/p]
  • [p]Ghost's Survivor color code changed slightly for better readability (is now more pastel-like).
    [/p]
  • [p]\[Steam] Fixed save game cloud-related issues. In the case of these kind of errors in the future (which may appear for multiple reasons, e.g. server issues), please disable the save cloud in the game's properties in Steam Library and/or backup your save files manually.

  • [p]Fixed runs from run history and leaderboards (Steam) not being displayed / returning an error.

  • [p]Added additional safety checks against the in-game auto-save going wrong.

Yet Another Update 0.9.1

[h3]Welcome, Survivor![/h3]

We're introducing another update to the game in the form of version 0.9.1.

This update focuses mainly on the new function we hope you'll enjoy, which is:

[h2]New System: Run History[/h2]

When starting the game, on the Team Leader selection screen, you can now access the brand new interface, which is the Run History (default: E / Y button).

This new interface will remember up to 100 (25 for Xbox) of your last played runs, displaying detailed statistics on how they've ended. In addition, you'll be able to restart any of them with the same exact settings, meaning same Team Leader, map, mode, badges selection, and difficulty level.

We'll be further expanding this system to allow you to save selected runs as your favorites, which will make it so they won't get deleted as the number of runs grow. If you have any fun ideas on how else we can expand this function, be sure to share your feedback with us!

[h2]Run summaries in Leaderboards[/h2]

In addition to video verification, you are now able to also check the statistics of each and every leaderboard score uploaded from now on going forward. This will allow you to check what build and which methods were used to gain the spot on the leaderboards.

While it doesn't show all the things picked along the way (e.g. items that were swapped before the end), it should still offer a glimpse into what's hot (or not) in the current version of the game. Remember, that you can always disable Leaderboard score upload in the in-game options menu.

Please note that runs are not seeded. Therefore, replaying them with the same settings will always result in a similar yet fully random experience. In YAZS no two runs will be the same!

  • New Run History feature (available at the SELECT TEAM LEADER screen).

  • Basic Item Pool presets implementation added to the Item Pool Customization interface.
  • Resuscitation now slows the game down for a while to put a stronger accent on when this happens.
  • Endurance: Added indicators for damage type tag bonuses dropped by Elite Bosses.
  • Items: Last Unicorn: Added information about the overall bonus in the item's tooltip.

  • Vulkan API: Fixed invisible zombies.
  • Many tweaks and fixes to how damage type tag points are calculated throughout the run.
  • Fixed an issue with game unpausing when getting revived and receiving a level-up at the same time.
  • HUD icons showing currently active collectible boosts no longer disappear when entering interfaces.
  • Items: Gold Medal: No longer incorrectly increases required XP for level up by more than displayed.
  • On victory state game no longer vacuums other items than Cash to prevent interface issues.
  • Fixed incorrect skill tree rank increase animation on game over screen.
  • Additional optimization tweaks and fixes.

Also, in the case that you've missed it, here's what was changed last time:

  • Added an option to temporarily take over Auto-Aim by holding Left Mouse Button or flicking the Right Stick.
  • Added mid-run saving of meta-progress (Specialization Points & Money Collected) for extra safety.
  • Added functionality to sort values in the Game Over Damage Panel.
  • Improved formatting of certain numbers displayed in-game.
  • Zombies should no longer move underground after being slammed by the Derailer.
  • Max HP can no longer drop below 10 (previously, replacing Glass of Milk in some cases could result in negative HP and a soft-lock).
  • Applied additional balance tweaks for Horde scaling.
  • Medic’s Medical Drone now takes slightly longer to switch modes (0.25 s → 0.75 s).
  • Fixed display of super-long (over 24h) Endless/Infinite records on the Arena selection screen.
  • Fixed incorrect descriptions for Bleeding and Toxified statuses.
  • Fixed occasional collision issues with the Derailer zombie.
  • Fixed Dog Eat Dog achievement triggering even when the boss wasn’t killed by another boss.
  • Devil’s Deal now deals 5% damage every tick instead of 10% (also fixed Chinese localization, which previously displayed 2% HP/s instead of 10% HP/5 s).
  • Skip Rope now shows a 0–5 value on the item panel and the total collected points only in the detailed description.
  • Added missing Chinese flavor text for Schrödinger’s Cat.
