Digital Tabletop Fest 4 begins today and Gods Against Machines is part of it!

From today through the 11th of March, you can save 10% off Gods Against Machines. In addition to that, you will also be able to experience some of the latest and greatest digital tabletop-inspired titles and see what the future holds for the tabletop genre with coming soon games. The festival will feature deckbuilders, board games, and titles inspired by tabletop IPs.

Digital Tabletop Fest is a Steam festival hosted by Auroch Digital. This year’s festival will be the fourth iteration, after first taking place in 2020.

  • Fixed several issues with opening info panel
  • Fixed a bug that caused damage and hitpoint bonuses from spells or Gaia powers to apply twice to most animal units
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to continue the campaign even after a loss in some rare cases
  • Fixed an issue with the Clone Creature spell that caused the bonus to damage and hitpoints to not apply in most cases
  • Fixed an issue that caused Leaking Storage perk to never remove any resources from enemies
  • Fixed an issue that caused Fungal Spores to not apply lifetime and hitpoint bonuses to the created buildings

[h2]Balance[/h2]

  • Increased damage of small enemy tanks by 10%
  • Increased base corruption spread by enemy terraformers (both land and sea variants) by 10%
  • Reduced the amount of corruption cleansed by most summoned buildings by 35% on average
  • Increased the time it takes for Energy Disruptors (antimagic zones) to recharge by 9%
  • Reduced the amount of resources the Leaking Storage perk removes from enemies for most spells that can have it
  • The Twisted reality perk that allows casting in antimagic zones now only applies to non-basic spells (basic spells are Fireball, Iceshard, Rock Spike and Lightning Strike so this perk no longer applies to them)
  • Reduced the maximum number of repeated casts of Tornado spell from Thunderstorm spell by 1
  • Added diminishing returns on shards obtained from evacuation drones - starting from 5th shard, there is a increasingly growing chance that mana will be granted instead of another shard
  • The following spells can now be upgraded with the Wormhole perk, granting them the ability to be cast in antimagic zones: Boulder, Volcano, Wildfire, Earthquake, Echo of water, Ice Wall, Lightning Strike, Tornado
  • Increased hitpoints of bosses by 10% and reduced the cooldown of corruption spreading abilities by 8% but also increased the maximum amount of Power Shards that can be obtained by defeating them
  • Increased the extra corruption and resources enemies generate in Void Realm at level 70 or higher from 33% to 50%


[h2]Performance[/h2]

  • Greatly improved performance when there is a lot of units on the screen
  • Improved performance during boss fights by streamlining some visual effects the big robots use


[h2]Other[/h2]

  • Fury of the Earth will now correctly activate from autocasted spells
  • Fury of the Earth now has an additional visual effects for summoned units
  • When Energy Disruptors (antimagic zones) pause to recharge there is now an extra visual effect and the sound effect is louder
  • The circle that displays the area effect of Energy Disruptors is now easier to see
  • Adjusted the Energy disruptor zone effect so that it better matches the visual indicators
  • The circle that displays the area where players can build around Mana Crystals is now easier to see
  • Updated the description of Clone Creature spell to correctly state that only the clone gets healed and not the original minion
  • Tutorials will no longer show when the region is already won or lost
  • The pause between reward choices is now much shorter so you can grab your rewards faster
  • The world menu will now remember which region was selected and reselect it when other menu's are closed (spellbook etc.)
  • Improved the world generator so that more spots suitable for mana crystals are generated, this should also help with the issue of crystals extremely close to enemy base

It is now a week after launch and we are thankful for all the feedback we got. Clearly many of you love the game, but there is still a lot to improve. And that is exactly what this post is about!

Over the next few weeks, we will focus on fixing all the bugs and annoyances with the game. We will take a hard look at game balance - we hear your feedback and are aware of issues with some spells, mechanics as well as late game (lack of) difficulty.

That does not mean we will just tweak some numbers on spells or enemy damage/hitpoints. While that will be part of the fixes, more features are coming in the next months that should improve on how the game plays for both casual as well as hardcore players. We plan to add a sandbox mode to allow you to experiment with builds without relying on luck. And we will also add a hardcore mode with new mechanics for veteran players to test their skills.

[h2]Bug fixes[/h2]

  • This update attempts to fix graphics related crashes that some players are experiencing - if you are experiencing this, please make sure you have the latest graphics drivers before reporting any issues, but do let us know on our forums or Discord. It is our highest priority to get this fixed as soon as possible.
  • Crashes should no longer result in campaign progress being lost.
  • Rock spike should now correctly hit flying targets when upgraded with "Long reach" perk even if cast in the deepest ocean
  • Fixed an issue that caused some players to accidentally keep opening Info panels about units or buildings
  • Added missing note about requiring a Mana Crystal nearby to Snake Pit and Spectral Pond
  • An enemy commander will now always spawn at level 99
  • Added core blessings of all four gods to the list of blessing accessible in the Gods menu
  • Powerful spirits will no longer offer immediate spawn of enemy commander as a reward when he is already active in the region
  • Call of the Sea and the Deep sea crab it summons now correctly states that the unit cannot attack other enemy units, just buildings
  • Destroying a Matter Converter that hasn't been fully built yet does not result into corruption spread anymore
  • The list of objectives will no longer block spell casts
  • Fixed a bug that caused some percentages to display 9 decimal points when it was not needed
  • When an enemy Mobile artillery is mindcontroller, it will no longer spread corruption
  • Shockwave spell no longer heals enemy units
  • CloneCreature heals the clone to full health now


[h2]Balance[/h2]

  • Spectral pond crocodile spawning frequency has been slightly reduced
  • The amount of essences rewarded for completing the campaign and Void Realm has been reduced by 30% and 50% respectivelly (players were able to max out all Gaia powers way too quickly)
  • Instant annihilation perk now does not instantly kill bosses and capital ships, but deals 30% of max hitpoints damage instead
  • Small enemy units (tanks and jets) had their damage increased by 20%
  • Enemy laser turrets had their damage and hitpoints increased by 20%
  • Increased enemy hitpoints and damage in Void Realm very slightly


[h2]Gameplay[/h2]

  • All powerful spirits are now immediatelly marked on the minimap. The Spirit sense perk now empowers them instead of showing their location on minimap.
  • The first time a new spell is selected, there are now 2 attempts to reroll for different a different one available
  • The second time a new spell is selected, there is now 1 attempt to reroll for a different one available
  • When energy disrupters pause to recharge, they will now make a unique sound to alert the player
  • Added a special tutorial for spell-autocasting (building summoning units can be toggled to cast automatically whenever possible)
  • After completing the whole game (beating level 99) all remaining power shards will be turned into essences
  • Urus (earth god) core blessing has been improved - it is now affected by Sarming Hive blessing (more summons) and the summoned units appear directly at the spot where the spell that triggered them was cast
  • Furthermore Urus core blessing now grows stronger every time it triggers (chance to trigger increases), but this extra chance is reset every time a new region is assaulted


[h2]Spells[/h2]

  • New upgrade for Time Shift spell available: cleanse corruption
  • New upgrade for Shockwave: sacred hammer effect
  • Thunderstorm mana cost increased by 30% but it's lifetime has also been increased slightly
  • Void Beam cooldown has been reduced by 20% but it's chance to cast additional beams has been reduced somewhat

Bugfixes


  • Fixed some typo's in spells and blessings decriptions
  • Fixed a bug that allowed the game to be continued even after losing a region
  • Fixed a bug where no endgame screen was shown when level 99 was beaten
  • Fixed a bug that allowed to continue a game even after level 99 was beaten (now it is no longer possible)
  • Fixed a bug where when the maximum value of any passive stat was reached it was still offered among upgrades - now a random small amount of shards or essences will be offered instead
  • Fixed a bug that caused some tutorials to keep appearing even though the player has already seen them, also limited tutorials to first 5 levels
  • A few smaller issues and minor improvements


Balance


  • Spell properties that give minions more hitpoints were made more powerful so that minions get more hitpoints faster (25%-40% increase)
  • Ice shard and Fireball had their damage very slightly decreased at higher levels by 5%
  • Chance to trigger the power infusion property has been reduced at higher levels by 15%
  • The trigger chance of the "Cast spell" perk for Ice shard and Fireball has been reduced by 20%
  • Spiders spawned by Gaia had their base hitpoints increased by 40%
  • All crystal golems had their base hitpoints increased by 25%
  • All treants had their base hitpoints increased by 20%
  • Exploding crocodiles and sheep had their base hitpoints increased by 15%
  • Fire and Ice troll had their base hitpoints increased by 10%
  • Sand crab and Deep sea crab base hitpoints have been increased by 10%
  • Rock giant attack power and hitpoints have been increased by 20%
  • Increased the damage of all powerful spirits by 20%
  • Increased the factor at which enemy damage and hitpoints scales in the Void realm to increase the challenge considerably
  • Increased the maximum values for passives: Critical chance (from 45% to 90%), Critical Damage (from 900% to 1800%), Starting miracle points (from 16 to 32), Cost reduction (from -60% to -80%) and bonus damage (from 60% to 320%)


Other


  1. Added tooltips to spell panel that show spell descriptions and cost (hover over spell buttons for at least 1 second to see them)
  2. Slightly reduced the volume of the notification that plays when a miracle is obtained in-game
