Gods Against Machines News

Gods Against Machines is now available!

Hello divine beings,

The judgment day is here! Ascend to godhood and unleash your wrath on the mechanical invaders!

First of all, we would like to thank everyone who gave us feedback on our demo and prologue. The game wouldn't be where it is without you! Your passion for the project motivates us to work harder and create the best experience possible.

The path to the stars

What's the plan from here? More spells, blessings, enemies? Yes, all that and more. But first, we want to focus on the immediate issues - bugs and balance issues. Rest assured that we will do our best to fix everything in a timely manner. We also need to take a little break to catch our breath. Once we are sure that the game is without any major issues, we will start working on new content - stay tuned for our roadmap, which we will share in the coming weeks. Your feedback will be invaluable in shaping it, so don't hesitate to let us know what you think of the game!

Divine collection

If you want to show your support for Gods Against Machines, we have added a Soundtrack DLC. By purchasing it, you can support further development and enjoy some epic music created by Daniel Zea, a very talented composer from Chile. Buy it separately or get it bundled with the full game for an additional discount!

New Steam game is a reverse city builder where you are nature itself

From Cities Skylines 2 to Satisfactory, overwhelming the natural order with your ever-expanding urban sprawl and exploiting its resources for your gain is a wonderfully satisfying experience. But what happens when nature fights back? The answer is Gods Against Machines, a new roguelike and reverse city-builder where you're a vengeful god protecting the world from a machine race as it plays its own strategy game on your land. As it prepares to launch, you can try it right now with a free Steam demo.

Void Realm - endgame content

Void Realm
Endgame Content
When you complete the regular campaign as one of the gods, you will unlock the ability to continue playing as that god in the Void Realm. This realm is a separate dimension opened up by your godly powers. There you can challenge the machine armies without fear of harming your home.

Similar to the regular campaign, you will be able to choose a region to attack. However, instead of taking place in your world, the battle will take place in a separate dimension, so that any corruption spread by the machines will only affect the region in that dimension and not your world. The Void Realm also allows you to increase the power of the enemy beyond what they would normally be capable of, so you can test your skills against even stronger foes - can you defeat a level 50 enemy? How about a level 70? How high can you go?
Into the Void Realm
The Void Realm is very similar to the regular campaign, with the following differences

 • Only region corruption is relevant - you still need to keep it below 100% to win, but world corruption does not accumulate, so you cannot lose that way.
 • Enemy strength is not limited to level 40, but can go up to level 100*.
 • Enemies will gain additional abilities every 10 levels (more on this below)
 • Rewards are still distributed in the same way, but after a certain point (40 regions won), only passives, shards and essences will be awarded.
 • You will be able to trade shards for essences and vice versa.

* Future content updates will likely expand on this.

We are aware of the fact that the regular campaign isn't very challenging at the moment, and we are looking into ways to change that to some extent. However, it has always been our intention to make the game more forgiving than other games in the roguelike genre.
Increased challenge
This changes in the Void Realm. For players who want to feel challenged and really fight for every point of resource and corruption to survive, the Void Realm is where the real fun begins. But we did not want to just scale the attack power and hit points of the machines. Instead, we are giving the enemy new abilities for the player to adapt to. Here is a sneak peek at how the machines will increase the challenge in the Void Realm (Disclaimer: this may change before release):

 • Level 40+: Enemy reinforcements will come more often and with greater force, evacuation drones will no longer spawn.
 • Level 50+: Enemy titans will always have up to two more collossi helping them.
 • Level 60+: Gaia will no longer be able to help you against enemy titans (except with a special blessing, and even then the chance is reduced).
 • Level 70+: Enemy buildings that produce corruption or resources will have their output greatly increased.
 • Level 80+: Your ability to remove corruption will be greatly reduced.
 • Level 90+: Enemies will occasionally use mana disruptors to prevent you from generating mana for a short period of time.

We have tried to design these additional powers to affect all builds, but we expect players to find ways to overcome even these impossible odds. And we look forward to seeing how you do it!

Since we plan to continue supporting and developing the game after launch, it is quite possible that the Void Realm will continue to expand with new features, units, and buildings for both the enemy and the player. But since that is still a long way off, we cannot promise anything yet!
Release soon!
The game will be released in a few weeks, and we are proud to say that development is largely complete. We plan to spend the remaining time polishing, balancing, and debugging to make the launch as smooth as possible.

Best regards,
Peter

Titans update v 0.99

Update v0.99

Great news!

A major demo update has just landed on Steam, and you can look forward to trying out new spells and battling the Titans - large outpost commanders and generals of the machines! These bosses will now appear every time you deplete the resources of the machines, and you will only be granted victory after you defeat them.

Before we get into what exactly the Titans are and what you can expect from fighting them, let us summarize some of the other changes coming in this update:
Changelog
• spell autocasting - Spells that summon buildings are now marked with an hourglass icon. This means that you can turn on autocasting for these spells. Simply right-click on them in your spell bar and the game will automatically cast the spell whenever possible. We felt that this was a necessary feature, especially in the later stages of the game, as it became very tedious to go back and forth between the enemy base and your own base to summon buildings.
 • New spell: Call of the Sea - Summon a large crab to fight for you that specializes in building destruction, but cannot attack enemy units. Protect it to get the most out of it!
 • New spell: Lava nest - a home of the Fire phoenix and a place where it respawns immediatelly after death.
 • New spell: Spectral pond - summons vicious crocodile spirits that explode upon contact with the enemy. They have low hit points, but compensate with a powerful attack over a wide area.
 • Many bugfixes and small balance changes as always.

Titans

As stated above, the Titans are the generals of the enemy army and as such only partake in battle when really neccessary. When you attack a region, they are notified of your actions and start preparing to meet you in battle. You have 15 minutes until they arrive - however if you manage to deplete enemy resources before that happens, they will arrive immediatelly but slightly weakened. Otherwise they come in full strength to thwart your attack.

Titans come in three flavors:

 • Outpost Commanders and Captains - the weakest and most common Titans. These are the ones you will fight at the low level outposts. They have strong attacks and a large health pool, but do not usually pose much of a threat.
 • Colossus - bigger and much stronger titans. There are several different types, each with different ways of waging war, from powerful Long Rage Lasers to summoning entire battalions of units, they are a formidable foe not to be underestimated.
 • Titans - the real titans. The strongest generals in the machine army, they can take massive amounts of damage and have many unique tricks up their sleeve. They are very difficult to defeat, but also very rare. You will only encounter them in later levels and will need the help of Gaia to stand a chance of defeating them. Be prepared!

The level of the Titan is determined by the level of the outpost - low level outposts are led by weaker commanders and captains, while very high level outposts are led by a Titan. Sometimes you may even face a Titan or Colossus that has one or more Captains assisting him!

You can try out these bosses in the demo. You will be able to encounter Commanders and Captains, and maybe a Colossus or two. Let us know what you think! This is a new feature and we will be carefully balancing their strength and adding new features over time until release.

What is next?

We plan to update the demo frequently, so rest assured any bugs will be fixed eventually. In the meantime, we will continue to work hard on the game, taking all of your feedback to heart!

Thanks,
Peter
