DevBlog #2 - The Art of Synergy

Hello, everybody and welcome to another ZET ZILLIONS post! This time we’ll be talking about what (for us) is the most important aspect of a card game: SYNERGY.

We’ve been working hard based on the feedback gathered from our demos to increase our number of fusions and effects and make it all work like a well-oiled machine!

Here, let me show an example:



Heavy Shuttle can be fused up to 3 times. For each fusion, it gains 8 damage. So when fusing it with Trash cards 3 times, it will end up dealing 24 Damage. And if you use a trash porter for the fusions, you will draw an additional card.

But things get way more interesting with our TRAIT system, TRAITS are passive skills that affect all your cards. So, imagine you have these 2 TRAITS in addition to the cards above:



Now, our previous combination of cards, will increase your damage for this turn (invigorate effect) by 3 per fusion! And also, when loading up the HEAVY SHUTTLER card, you’ll be able to draw 1 more card in addition to TRASH PORTER’s effect!

The end result is 33 DAMAGE and 2 cards drawn!

In our current demo it is a bit harder to get your hand on more than 2 or 3 TRAITS. In the final version you’ll be able to get up to 12 different TRAITS by completing missions, visiting event nodes and defeating bosses.

We worked very hard to improve our card effects, create interesting TRAITS and maximize SYNERGY to the brim!
