Devlog 2 - Style system, testing and bling

Three short updates for you!

We are still working towards a new version of the Demo as well as preparing for Early Access later this year!

So what have we been working on lately?

As mentioned last time, our Style System (or Menace System) has been through some iterations and we have received a lot of valuable feedback!

We are still want to pimp out the style system, but we are moving in a good direction!

We also just this weekend had a bigger test, where we have gotten a lot of awesome feedback from testers.

Based on that feedback, we will working on improving:
  • Even more different Menace Actions, that emphasizes your gameplay! Ideally we would love for it to be able to react to everything you do, but at the same time not over do it.
  • We are still playing around with the general movement speed of Glum, as some people find him a little too fast and difficult to control while airborne.
  • Improving the exploration spots and collectibles to enhance incentive.
  • Improving minor stuff in tutorial such as wording and moving a barrel or two.

Hey Goblin Gang!

Thanks to everyone who has played the demo so far!

This is a reminder that the GLUM Demo will be taken down on the 30th of December at 8 PM CET.

Temporarily!

We have gotten a lot of awesome feedback from you guys and we really appreciate it!

We will though be taken down the GLUM demo as preperation for Steam Next Fest i February, so fear not! GLUM will return!

In a few months, you will be able to roam around again and kick some ass! In the mean time, join our Discord for new playtests and other updates the development!

We will see you in the new year!

Devlog 1 - What's been brewing

Hey Goblin Gang!

We thought it might be nice to know a little about what we’re working on behind-the-scenes, so we’ll try to put out a few short devlogs when we’ve go interesting stuff to share!

Ever since the demo was released, we’ve been hard at work assessing some of the feedback we’ve received from you guys - and while we appreciate the feet pics, it is “feedback” and not “feetback”

So now that’s in the clear, let’s bring you up to speed on what’s been happening here at the “Bootcamp”.

We’ve had a lot of focus on really bringing out the menacing parts of our combat, while also trying to up the Action-feel of GLUM, so we’re currently testing the following:

We’ve upped the pace of combat by quite a bit.
  • Glum is faster with shorter cooldowns
  • Enemies die faster, and there are a lot more of them (like, A LOT)
  • Encounters have a lot more environmental dangers for you to take advantage off


We’ve also worked on a “style system”, which rewards players for being a real menace!
  • This system rewards more points by more difficult and menacing actions
  • It has cool/funny/edgy/cringey names for actions (a lot of puns)
  • A highscore will in fact give you bragging rights over your less skilled pals - dev-confirmed


As we’re still ironing out some of the kinks, we’ll be looking for testers over at our Discord server, so if you’re interested in following along, please join the Goblin Gang over there!
