Button Pop Demo Major Update

Hello there!
With this next update we will be introducing a whole new skill tree and button rank system that will allow players to incrementally progress, upgrade and create their own "Button Build".
[h3]New Perk trees - [/h3]
The perk trees are broken down into POP, Build and Survive. Each tree will promote a certain play styles and enhance particular areas of the coin and defence production.


[h3]We are closing in - [/h3]
The final game is getting very close to the finish line, making leaps and bounds every day, with just a handful of features left to be fully tested (as of writing these notes).

We have also updated the Steam page with more up-to-date images and Gifs.




Plus a full rework of our description, bringing them more in line with the final game and making them Pop!

Button Pop Demo Patch 1.04

[h2]Notes:[/h2]

[h3]Fixed Bugs - [/h3]
  • Tutorial getting stuck at certain stages - Fixed.
  • Slow mo effect constantly active when placing defence - Fixed (lasts a short time).
  • Some small enemies getting stuck on terrian - Fixed.
  • Enemy performance increase (especially on later levels with moving platforms).
  • Coin factories and energy generators performance increase (FPS).


[h3]New Features -[/h3]
  • Button ranks.
  • Baby Button safe stage count down timer implemented.
  • Enemy spawn location will now unlock based on curated patterns with multiple possible outcomes.
  • Repair has now been moved to a select rather than hover to present. The cost of a repair is also relative to the overall cost of the turret level.
  • New saves seperate the Demo from the Full game.
  • Perk trees and skill points.
  • Coins are now converted to "Parts". Parts are used to purchase customisation items.
  • On death, parts are calculated at a lower rate, rather than the player receiving no reward.
  • Achievements are now active! (Demo version has restrictions).
  • Additional customisation items (Viewable in demo).
  • Continue to next mission now implemented (Demo - Restricted to the Tutotial and Green meadows).


[h3]Balance- [/h3]
  • End reward values have been rebalanced i.e. more parts will be rewarded per victory.
  • Turrets and enemies are rebalanced (especially spawn rates). "A button difficulty" should be easier overall.
  • Safe status has had an increase in time (Baby Button and A Button).
  • Small tweaks to the efficiency of energy generators and coin factories.
  • All bosses have had a small reduction in health, reducing the time taken on the final wave.
  • All wave timers have been tweaked so that levels can be completed slightly faster.

  • Fleshing out information in Buttonpedia.
  • Expanding difficulty information (In the mission select window).
  • Final release date announcement and trailer.

[h3]Fixed Bugs - [/h3]
  • Sometimes turrets failed to notice enemies - Fixed
  • Boss moving while "EMPing" - Fixed
  • Full screen could be activated at the wrong resolution - fixed
  • Space bar can now start the waves (Not just clicking on button)
  • Pressing escape while in buttonpedia would pull up the options panel behind the current window - fixed.
  • Audio doubling up on main menu - fixed


[h3]New Features -[/h3]
  • New UI layout.
  • New game timer/ Notification UI, including pre wave guidance on how to start the waves.
  • Coins are now converted to parts at the end of missions. Parts are now used to unlock customisation (also new UI conversion animation at the end of missions).
  • Pop Audio level setting.
  • Turret lock UI.
  • Turret Unlock FX.
  • New Coin Factory tier (LVL 03).
  • New Energy Generator tier (LVL 06).
  • Explosion ballistics: Explosions will now trace out ,reacting to the environment and will not damage enemies/ defences that are behind hard surface environmental objects such as rocks.
  • Enemy ranks have been expanded: Regular and Mini clickers can bring more weapons and armour/ shields to the battle, Increasing there damage, health and armour.
  • New modules such as Auto clicker, laser turrets, shock turrets and damage per click and now available!
  • Additional customisation items (Viewable in demo).
  • Small sections added to the tutorial explaining streaks, turret lock, Settings options and more.
  • All enemies and turrets performance has been revised and improved. Performance overall should be increased!
  • Bodies of fallen Bosses will now feature on the main menu.
  • Pick-a button zoom in and rotate function is now active.


[h3]Balance- [/h3]
  • Turrets react faster
  • Mini and regular clickers have been scaled up slightly (Physical size increase).
  • Wall defences have had there health increase overall.
  • Bolters damage and fire rates have been adjusted to let lower tier enemies survive slightly longer.


[h3]Looking forward - [/h3]
  • Fleshing out information in buttonpedia.
  • Expanding difficulty information (In the mission select window).
  • We are currently working on a persistent progression system, that allows the player earn skill points that can be used to unlock perks to form a "Button Build" that complements an individuals play style.

[h3]Fixed Bugs - [/h3]
  • Button pressing should feel smoother and more responsive.
  • Boss could sit still for no reason, fixed.
  • Stuck on infinite loading screen, fixed.
  • Tutorial presentation bugs (Sometimes info bubbles would stick around when they should have been removed).
  • Button would disable when energy hit zero, fixed.


[h3]New Features - [/h3]
  • Upgrade and build info (On hovering a build option Eg. Bolter, two smaller bubble pop up showing the difference in energy and damage after purchase or upgrade.
  • Accessibility Setting (options) -
    • Colour blind options
    • Hold button Toggle (Instead of Key Mashing)
    • Hold Mouse Toggle (Instead of clicking)
  • Incoming indicator arrows have been moved to the "Incoming stage" and made more visible.
  • Options to change the difficulty after death have been added.
  • Super Sampling Setting (Up to 200%)


[h3]Balance- [/h3]
  • Enemy numbers have been tweaked, introducing a "Spawn curve" as the game develops (Only applies to Baby Button and A Button difficulties)
  • If the player is struggling early on in the a mission, crates will spawn to help them out (only on A Button difficulty)

[h3]Fixed Bugs - [/h3]
  • Boss can no longer get stuck after exiting map. (Run away state)
  • Enemy exploder device infinite health fixed.
  • Camera rotation now working as intended.
  • Resolution setting not saving/ not applying in settings panel, fixed and on first play will auto pick highest resolution for current monitor.


[h3]Performance - [/h3]
  • Improvements to FX and explosions.
  • Ai and general enemy optimisation.
  • LODs activated on all models (previously, some assets where not working).


[h3]Lighting - [/h3]
  • The lighting model has been tweaked so that shadows on smaller enemies render at greater distances (Ultra Shadow setting)

Make ready for the oncoming hordes of angry buttons!

The Button Pop Demo is live! Come and join the solo indie developer as they
stream a playthough and answer your Popping questions.

We will be talking about the latest updates and features currently being developed.
Additionally, the launch content including levels, biomes and customisation will be dissussed.

The Button Pop is a mix of a Tower Defence and a Button Masher
game where you are a gaint Button trying to defend itself from the evil Button empire!

Defend yourself by building a variety of turrets and construct generators
to produce energy and coin.
Go on an adventure across a multitude of biomes collecting riches along
